You've got it selso! I've looked into the whole issue of covering tunes. As long as it's for pure enjoyment and no one is making $$ off of their song, it's perfectly legal to do covers. Get that webcam going again and show us your stuff!

Re: Have you noticed... (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Ha ha ha! A scrunchie is basicly an elastic band encased in fabric for tying hair up with into a pony tail. Sometimes we call them "pony holders" too! Some are small, some are bigger... so yes many of them will fit around an arm.
I've fought with my sleeves all winter long, as it seems they just got in my way. I'd pull them up... once in a while I've used a scrunchie to help hold a sleeve UP out of my way while playing so that my sleeve is NOT muting the strings on me

I second that! If it sounds right go for it. Everyone strums patterns a little differently and as a general rule there's no one way to pick a pattern to emulate an entire band. Do what sounds good to you! Have fun!

Kenny I think you did really well on this one! I like how the lyrics flow, and it's got a nice meaning to it and reality. Keep us updated on when you get it recorded!

Whoo Hoo (clap clap clap clap)! Very well done Jim! Thanks for trusting your Chordie friends by putting this up there. It's a little scary the first time... but you did very well and should be darn proud of yourself. Now that I hear how it goes, I like it even more! It has a countryish/folkish feel to it. Well done, and the H2 seems to agree with you very well. Hope to hear more soon!

Looks like a pretty good job there Tony! I imagine those strings will continue to settle a little.

ooooo Zooom! You are going to enjoy playing with that little gadget! Remember if you upload to youtube, it has to be a video of some sort. You can make a title page that just lasts the entire song, or pictures or whatnot. Another favorite among the members here is the soundclick website. You can just upload music there without any video file. I'm considering doing that myself now as I'm mostly messing with just my Zoom and kinda don't want to be bothered with slideshows to go with it as a video file. But then, I do like fiddling with the computer. LOL! Check out the Recording Section for some ideas on where to set your mic etc! Good luck Jim!

Re: using a pick (5 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hey welcome to the Chordie forum! A lot of people (most) have issues with picks when they start. They spin in your fingers, the fall out of your hand, it's tricky. I have mostly been finger picking and strumming with fingers on nylon strings. I just recently added a steel string to my family. A thumbpick helps, but you still have to hold it, and a big ole triangle pick is great too! Practice, practice, practice! Good luck my friend!

Hey folks... this issue has been going on for a while. There's lots of comments, discussion, etc in the "about chordie" section. Here's the most recent one: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14960
Wayne gave a suggestion of a site to try that apparently hasn't been attacked, YET, by the monster money mongers. Errr... I mean, by the people who own legal rights to those songs and do not want them distributed freely (aka... they want their money! LOL)

Welcome to the forums Tommc62! Transpose is in the top box on the right ... directly under the chord charts that show up on an individual song. Print is right above the layout and accuracy stars rating on the right in the boxes.

Re: Having a Funky Day (26 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
PapaTom, I'm so sorry you were in a funk. I hope today's a little better. I totally think you are one of the guys in this group BTW!
Hmmm... songs that lift me up are typically "girl power" songs, so I don't think my choices will really do it for you. Very interesting start to a story. WOW... but then... I've heard some really interesting stories about the Big City. I used to think everything I saw on TV was a joke until I went there and talked with people that have spent a decent amount of time there. It truly is one world on one street and completely another on the next street.
I have to admit, I've been in a bit of a funk too. Not for the same reasons however. My guitar keeps me going, leaning new things, engaging my mind, and being a good friend when I just want to chill out. Having first and foremost been a stay at home mom for the past 14 years (with jobs here and there on and off as time schedules would allow) I very well know that feeling of sitting on your butt trying to make something else happen. While we have to deal with the cards we're dealt, we also have to find a way to make a little magic out of nothing. THAT is my guitar, or abandoning my pride and climbing through the playground to go down the swirly slide with my little girls, learning how to repair things and doing things around the house that my husband doesn't have time for. Simple stupid things help... the trick is finding appreciation in them rather than frustration because you wish you'd have been dealt a different hand.
So PapaTom, I say go find a puddle to splash in if it's still raining there today, take a hot girly bubbly bath, bake some cookies and play your Uke. Be silly today!

Yuppers... good story, good song in there. It reminds me of the story my dad used to tell while we were driving along between Buffalo and Albany... the story of the Indian named Falling Rocks (signs along the way "Watch out for falling rocks" where they had cut through the rocky hills to make way for the highway). Good ole stories deserve to be turned into some type of folk song! Good job Jets!!

Re: Is there such a thing as "B7 chord amnesty"? (11 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I actually can do the B7 021202! I'm still a little slow getting my fingers in place, but so far the B7 has only creeped up in a couple songs at a turning point in the song where I can hit one string at a time as I get my fingers lined up and not totally lose tempo. Maybe try this, it looks fairly easy, but it 's at the 7th fret so I'm not sure how well it'll fit into the song your're working on.
If it was me, I would try 0x1202 ... see if you can get your finger to mute the 5th string, but keep the 6th open so you still have a base note.
I cheat on the Bm. A lot of beginner chords only use the trebles (per some of the books I have laying around... yes, there is a cheat for even the open C and open G). When in doubt I take away the bass notes and try to just get the trebles in. It usually does the trick until I can get the chords right. Good luck! I bet one of our seasoned players has an alternate fingering they use sometimes.

Re: 'Swept Away' lyrics and chords removed? (1 replies, posted in Song requests)
Hi EleAgar and welcome to the forums! Chordie is a search engine, none of the songs are actually hosted here on Chordie servers. Instead, the songs are found on other sites and Chordie's wonderful formatting works on them to make them look good and available all in one place. Chances are that the website where the song was actually located is no longer hosting the song that you're looking for. For more information on how this works, please click on the "Resources" tab and then on the "Frequently Asked Questions" link under information.

Re: No Beatles Chords?!?!?! (4 replies, posted in About Chordie)
A lot of people agree with you Bratface. It's kind of like the big music sharing companies like Napster... you can't share music anymore (and there's a lot of debate even about putting video or mp3 of a cover song that you've done online)... next will be sites like this having to pay a penny to the original songwriter every time someone wants a tab. It's all about the money and to some it's just "business". Of course to us, we just want to enjoy music!

Bratface... I'm sorry to hear that you're having a problem with this. The website admin (owner) has had problems and has had to remove/block some songs. Here's a link to a thread with some more information. It's not necessarily the answer you're looking for, but a discussion of what's been happening with that issue: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=11720
