crevs.1972, you got me thinking. I have been told my several players that when they knew not where to go, they went back to the blues.
Thinking back, I have found myself back into the blues for various reasons on several occasions. Don't know why. Just wound up back there. Always took me to a good and better place in my music.

Learning to play guitar is a series of plateaus. You progress to a certain level and then you seem stuck there for a while. It takes an outside stimulus to break you out of your "rut" and propel you forward.
The stimulus could be an inspiring player or piece of music the lights your fire and has you breaking new ground.
Be patient and stay willing to try new things and at some point you will find a way to break out and surge forward.

Old guitar strings make great picture hangers. Use an ice pick and put a hole in both sides of a picture frame, screw in two eye screws and use an old guitar string to bridge across.

Every time I play on a stage where bands play regularly, I find picks dropped by some players - especially stages with dark carpet. These are seldom picks that I prefer and are often worn down a good bit or starting to tear on the small end..
I like nylon picks of a certain thickness and I order them in bulk from Musician's Friend Catalogue.

What fun we could have with that.  Hmmmm.  The one thing I couldn't figure out was the setup.  It showed just clamping it on the mic stand and you're ready.  No wire hookups?

Not shown, Pete. You have to plug a power source, your mike and your guitar into it and then two outputs for guitar and mic into P.A. inputs.
Having one output for mic and guitar is possible but can limit your options.

If the 5 position switch is in the second position I believe that the neck pickup is switched off, but I will look into that.

I have started sanding the body down, it may not be obvious from this picture but the stain has penetrated the grain and in places it looks dirty so I have got to try to lift it out someway.

Strip-eze paste is gooey and nasty but it will heave the stain up and out.
I restored a wooden boat (mucho varnish) and a 1916 house all woodwork varnished). Heavy bodied strip paste is applied with a bristle brush. Time it to start removal just before the paste starts to dry.The resulting goo is removed with a damp rag and sanded clean.
Wear heavy rubber gloves because that stuff burns.

Why we miss Rodney Dangerfield...........

Because he said ....

My wife only has sex with me for a purpose. Last night she used me to time an egg.

It's tough to stay married. My wife kisses the dog on the lips, yet she won't drink from my glass!

Last night my wife met me at the front door. She was wearing a sexy negligee. The only trouble was, she was coming home.

A girl phoned me and said, 'Come on over. There's nobody home.' I went over. Nobody was home!

A hooker once told me she had a headache.

I went to a massage parlor. It was self-service.

If it weren't for pickpockets, I'd have no sex life at all.

I was making love to this girl and she started crying I said, 'Are you going to hate yourself in the morning?' She said, 'No, I hate myself now.'

I knew a girl so ugly that she was known as a two-bagger. That's when you put a bag over your head in case the bag over her head comes off.

I knew a girl so ugly... they use her in prisons to cure sex offenders.

My wife is such a bad cook, if we leave dental floss in the kitchen the roaches hang themselves.

I'm so ugly I stuck my head out the window and got arrested for mooning.

The other day I came home and a guy was jogging, naked. I asked him, 'Why?' He said, 'Because you came home early.'

My wife's such a bad cook, the dog begs for Alka-Seltzer.

I know I'm not sexy. When I put my underwear on I can hear the Fruit-of-the-Loom guys giggling.

My wife is such a bad cook, in my house we pray after the meal.

My wife likes to talk on the phone during sex. She called me from Chicago last night.

MY FAVORITE:
My family was so poor that if I hadn't been born a boy, I wouldn't have had anything to play with.

Sorry I missed you, Tops. You have the best attitude about performing and that will serve you well. Hope to see a vid of you some time soon.
You bought a great microphone. I bought my first SM-58 after I saw the Rolling Stones singing through them on a concert tour. They take a beating and sound great.

A fabulous violinist was a child prodigy, then a huge success on the concert stage. His audiences grew in size to the point only the largest venues could seat them all. But then...
His audiences began to shrink. The violinist kept practicing and getting better by leaps and bounds but the crowds kept getting smaller and smaller.
The violinist became so frustrated he took a long trip to Africa to spend time alone and regain his perspective. He walked off alone a long way into the jungle (rain forest - if you must). He then jumped up onto a tree stump, closed his eyes and played his violin from his very heart of hearts. He played a long, long time before he opened his eyes.
And when he finally opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by thousands and thousands of animals of every description. Up front were tiny birds and chipmunks, then hyenas, leopards and lions. In the rear as far as he could see were huge rhinos and elephants.
The violinist was so excited. He had found his new target audience - not just people but animals and birds - maybe fishes too. He closed his eyes and played again expressing the thrill and excitement of his being so musically fulfilled.
'Bout that time, a huge black panther, perched on a tree limb just above the violinist, leaped down on him and ate him all up - chomp, chomp, chomp.
The huge crowd gasped in horror - oooooh!
A monstrous huge lion walked up to the panther and asked him, "Man, why did you have to go and do that. We were enjoying the music."
The panther put his paw up next to his ear and said, "Huh?"

Wow, what a wonderful compliment, Tops. I am so honored, sir.
At my age 70, I am retiring from paying gigs - more than the rate my playing skills are eroding, I look really bad huffing and puffing onstage these days. That Florida tour you attended, Topdown, was my last.
I still enjoy jamming on tuba and guitar and will continue playing for fun with my pickin' buddies as often as I can. I hope to attend some jamming opportunities with my chordie friends as much as possible.
Onstage entertaining is and should be for the young. I plan to pound beers and pick and grin with friends until my geezerhood is over.
thanking you,
