If what you're playing has been published by guitarworld magazine, they have all the effects listed at the top of their tab. I'm not certain if they have the individual setting for each effect but knowing exactly what effects are used should make it easier to figure out the settings. Check them out at www.guitarworld.com  Hope this helps.

Classic design and good tone. I don't care too much for the finish that's pictured but I'm sure they have other options. Congrats Doc,hope you get much enjoyment from your new axe

Just a guess but it's possible that from being more used to playing an acoustic that you're simply applying too much pressure to the strings. With the neck being somewhat narrower and the strings being closer to the fretboard you're cramping your fingers into a smaller space and applying more pressure than needed. Try lightening up on your grip and see if that helps. You may have to concsiously  think about this to do it as your hand and brain are trained to apply a certain amount of pressure to get your acoustic to play properly. I am not a doctor nor do I portray one on t.v.

Hey detman, there's your first subject for learning the blues. My finger screws up my barre chord blues. lol Keep practicing. Eventually you will overcome this problem or adapt to it. I've only got three working fingers on my left(chord) hand and I don't let it slow me down. I've adapted my playing style and about the only thing I can't do is play triplets unless they start from an open position. Hang in there

Hey pix,did some looking and evidently nobody has permission from the publisher to post his music yet. I had never heard of this guy until I read your post and followed the link. I'll take a shot at figuring out the chord progression and see what happens. Pretty good song, thanks for the link to it. This is one of the great things about Chordie, getting turned on to artists and bands you may never discover on your own.

It's a shame that so many talented musicians have passed over in the past year.  Billy's piano playing added so much to a great band. Can you imagine the jam session that's now taking place in the great hereafter. Billy will continue to live on as long as everyone remembers he's now a Freebird

Listen to Warren Zevon-Werewolves of London for the verse and Lynyrd Skynyrd-Sweet Home Alabama for the chorus. This song draws heavily from these two classics. You should have no problem figuring it out

Being laid off and bored,I find myself searching the web more than usual. As a result I came across a site that is very similar to Chordie but has some different features. The site can be found at www.yourchords.com. Along with chords and tabs for artists they also have a brief biography. They don't have the forum selections found here and also don't seem to have as many people posting on the areas they do have. All in all I would have to give Chordie the nod as far as content and the number of dedicated and knowledgeable people posting. The folks here do a great job and should be proud of the quality of this site

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will), but I believe Neil is referring to Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols who died at an early age. Concerning Neils lead playing, although I'm a huge fan and have been for many years, I agree that he is not the greatest or even among the top 25. Neils style is similar to many of the guitarists from the sixties, fairly simple runs following the melody line of the song. But all in all what he lacks in lead skills or vocal skills for that matter(the first time my daughter heard him she asked me who that whiney sounding guy was) he is a great and talented songwriter and performer who has stood the test of time

Well Deia, that's a rather broad request. There are a lot of 3 chord songs out there that are easy to play but without knowing what type of music you like it's hard to give you any input. Check out the public books section. Many members have easy songs listed in many different styles. If you're into country, try Johnny Cash. Classic rock,CCR has a lot of 3 chord stuff. Take some time and look through these books,I'm sure you'll find something you like

Came across a site that has a pretty good selection of backing tracks in midi format. Go to www.midi-tab.com/    The site also has tabs for all backing tracks. I've checked out a few of my favorites and really enjoyed playing along. A great tool for getting that timing down and keeping it all together. Enjoy

hey topdown, I agree totally with you. I can't seem to grasp paying for music online and having nothing physical to hold. I guess I'm just old school. So I'll take my dinosaur and hide in my garage and listen to vinyl and 8-tracks.(Anybody have a matchbook?)

Any how I found this site that has a ton of good videos and also top 100 lists along with access to lyrics. Go to www.nutsie.com. Free site with downloads for mp3, videos and more. Hey and welcome to Chordie. I can understand the frustration of having a finger that won't work properly. I "self amputated" my left pinky on a job site almost 10 years ago. As a result all my barre chords out of the E position are either minors or sevenths. I still play barres out of the A position without any trouble. Keep stretching that sucker hopefully it will come around. At least you have the finger there to work with and given time and desire you should be able to see some progress.

You might want to check out the Applause series by Ovation. I have an Ovation and have played a couple of Applause and couldn't tell much difference in the two. They are a decent guitar for the money and like the Ovation have a very fast slim neck, good tone and projection and also allow you to go electric without adding a soundhole pickup or having to mic it. You can check them out online at www.musiciansfriend.com or at www.guitarcenter.com. If that dosen't fit the bill then you may want to look at the Jasmine series by Takamine. These are also a great guitar for the money and play very well.

Get yourself to your local RadioShack or other electronics store and buy some contact cleaner and a can of compressed air(no really). Use the nozzle on the air to blow a stream of air into both the guitar and amp jacks(this will help to remove any dust). Then spray contact cleaner into both jacks. Don't worry the contact cleaner has a high alchohol content and will evaporate quickly. If this doesn't fix your problem check your cord. Ay any rate this is good preventative maintenence.
