If you aren't worried about money...

Try an Epiphone Les Paul or a Fender standard Strat. I have no idea if they are any good but they are what I would buy if I could afford them.

Or, try a PRS SE, lots of version, decent quality, and about £300.

gitaardocphil, what's your opinion?

There are some videos on the wesley website showing the san diego:

http://www.wesleyguitars.co.uk/storefro … =236208633

Sounds alright to me, but I think that might have something to do with the guitarist!

You'll play the chord progression as such.  Chords only change on the beginnings of the measures.   I've included the notes in the key of E major as an example.  You should use the chords appropriate for your favorite key.

One        I     E
Two        I     E
Three      I    E
Four       I     E
Five        IV   A
Six         IV   A
Seven     I     E
Eight       I     E
Nine       V    B
Ten        IV   A
Eleven    I     E
Twelve    I    E

Once you play it, you'll immediately recognize it.  It's the basis for literally thousands of songs.

There's also a version which ends with:

Twelve  V  B

The rest is the same.

If you check ebay (uk version, but they should have them on all of them), you can buy an Airline guitar for about £250, that is exactly the same as the one Jack White (white stripes) uses.

gitaardocphil, have a look at the musicstreet website when you get chance, most (if not all) of the guitars they sell are at least £50 less than the rrp. The PRS guitars there are very cheap, but I think they only sell the korean versions.

What do you think of this website:

www.warmoth.com

They sell guitar parts, bodies, necks, etc. and custom guitars. It's cheaper to buy a custom Jaguar from them than buy one from Fender!

This website sells PRS guitars:

http://www.musicstreet.co.uk

They are in the UK and are the cheapest I've found.

PRS Santana for £289!

I would have:

Gibson Firebird
Fender Mustang
Fender Jaguar
Gibson Les Paul Double-Cutaway
Gibson Les Paul Jr.
Gibson ES335

Just wish I could afford them!

I'm looking for a tab for 5 State Drive by Less Than Jake. I can't find it anywhere.

How about Hodson?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hodson-SurfCat-Ja … dZViewItem

They're made of the right wood, but are they decent quality?

Hello Tibernius.
How is the ZOOM G2.1U? I read some comments, all pretty good.

It sounds good, has a decent amount of effects, only problem I can find with it is that you can't use all of the effects at once, but it isn't very likely that you would need to.

gitaardocphil wrote:

So what happened, I think 10 years ago, I bought my first "effect processor", a floorboard ZOOM 8080 AND I BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL IN PRODUCTION.

The Zoom 8080 has probably been replaced by one of the G series, possibly the G7.1ut.

Try the Zoom G2.1U, you can get it for about £80:

It has amp-modelling and each of the different effects.

less than jake I hate top say it would probably be classed as punk too, but if we can catagorise punk even more they would be pop punk, lol.
I saw them in glasgow when they were playing with DRop kick murphys. I did not like them that much, but they were very very tight on stage and had a good sound for what they played, just not my sort of punk music.

Ken

Which album were they playing? Their early stuff's the best.

Sorry for going off-topic.

But to me, all punk, heavy metal, heavy rock, thrash, grunge is all ROCK to me.

Same here. I listen to a band called Less Than Jake, they have been classed as almost all types of music, ska, rock, indie, I've given up trying to figure out what they are.

I had to correct microsoft a couple of days ago, media player said that Feeder were pop!
Just checked and it says that Green Day is "Alternative". It says that all of my albums are!

I can't think of any songs about months, so I don't think I'll be much help with this one.

In the UK it isn't classed as punk rock, just one of the differences between US and UK music.

It's actually about the 2nd gulf war, the september it references is 9/11.

And if you haven't got it, get American Idiot (the album, not the single). Boulevard of broken dreams is one of my favourites, sounds a bit more relaxed than the rest of the album.

Try a multi-effects unit like the Zoom G2.1U. You should be able to find one online. If you're in the UK I'll post a link to one.

The most used is distortion, a limited version is built into most amps.

Mine's Filibuster. They're a Ska band from California. Check out the album Deadly Hi-Fi.

Saturday 18th June 2005 so not actually last year!  Check it out on "Bullet In A Bible".  One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I wonder if anyone else spotted the irony of 65000 people singing "Minority" in perfect unison?  Life Of Brian, anyone?

lol

Bonedaddy

I've got the album, that's why I asked.

Isn't there part of a Python song on there? On king for a day?

That's another guitar I'd have: Billie Joe's Fernandes Strat.

I'd reccommend some AC/DC, try Back in Black and Hell's Bells....

Kurt Cobain learnt to play the guitar by playing Back in Black, so I'd say that's a good choice.

Try Basket Case or Welcome To Paradise by Green Day. Really basic songs (or at least some sections are).

You think?!? Yes it is Green Day, not sure if it should be classed as being about the month though.

Rubbersoul (Beatle Fan?) I have a friend who owns a STAGG, a fender telecaster clone.
I believe that there is something with that guitar. I got a few times serious feedback.
CONCLUSION: not bad, but definitely not good.

What would you recommend in terms of a tele clone? I was looking at the stagg version.

Try these:

You should be able to find them in the states as well.

One by Less Than Jake:  "Never Going Back To New Jersey".
So that's all of them then?

Mind you after seeing Green Day last year with 65000 other people in a field, I wouldn't say no to one of his guitars!

Slightly off-topic, but where did you see them?

And check this guitar out:

St Jimmy? Somehow I don't think you mean Billie Joe Armstrong.

I'm looking to widen my styles a bit, since I mainly play, as the americans call it, "punk-rock".
Can someone recommend some blues songs that are easy to play? Ideally with some lead sections and/or slide guitar sections.
