Lol! As far as I know, the gingerbread house was in the Hansel And Gretel Story by Brothers Grimm. The Weak Father and the Wicked Stepmother abandoned Hansel n Gretel in the woods when they couldn't afford to feed them any more. Hansel, being a bloke (and therefore practical) dropped breadcrumbs as they went deeper into the wood. Short sighted as he was, he didn't foresee the birds eating the breadcrumbs (which they did) so they got lost anyway. Luckily they found a house made of Gingerbread. Unluckily, it was made by a witch who didn't so much eat Gingerbread as entice young children into the edible house, fatten them up and eat them!
To cut a long story short, SPOILER ALERT Gretel chucks the witch into her own oven, frees Hansel, finds a Sat Nav and some treasure, goes home to find the Wicked Stepmother has died so they all live until the deathclock says it's time to go on to glory!
The End.
Yeah, sorry
Thanks for all your good wishes, although they've come to nothing as Old Doll has given me her dose of flu!
Great pome Doll!
Cheers
Hi Lieven
If you send me an email, I'll send you a chopro formatted song, you can use that as a template for posting your material. Alternatively, check out the sticky at the top of the songwriting forum, that explains how to do it
Cheers
Lieven,
In another post, you say that this starts with D6add9 but you started this with G6! Which is correct?
Sorry but had to chopro it so I could get the chords to print!
[G6]I was driving [C]from state to state,[C7]just in time and not too late
We ended [G6]up, I think to the [C]north, on the border [C7]of the Arizona state
Tir[G6]ed, red faced, with white [C]sunglass stripes and a [C7]big pumpkin head
She[G6] said, stop, I like it [C]here, stepped out and [C7]disappeared
I heard her voice, it was her choice, reflected by the Hoover dam.
Her throat was dry, just like mine, dusty, and that sound oh man
It was the Hoover dam, the damned Hoover dam

Thats awesome . I have a thing for random lyrycs I guess....
Saw some great names here, its interesting to me to see the influences and how they show themselves in the different styles I see here on chordie.
That was Pink Floyd's Bike from Piper At The Gates Of Dawn - Their first album. Check it out it's very good!
Hmmm my whole being wishes abortion could be practiced without stigma. I look at the papers and see 12 kid families whose parents don't do a scrap of work and think warm thoughts about post natal abortion for the parents.
I don't think anyone should have a lifetime of penance for a mistake or as a result of rape. It's a personal choice.
cheers
The Long Pigs from the '80s. Long Pig being a name for human flesh in... d'oh can't remember which country!
Marmalade from the '60s
The Jam from the '80s
Cream
Green Jello
Jello Biafra
The Lemonheads
Blind Melon
Bowling for Soup
The Cranberries
As suspected, very badly but your version was excellent!
Thanks for sharing
That was great! I'm off to FoC to see how badly I mangled it now
Thanks Lena - btw did u enjoy your birthday Gingerbread?
Hi Phil
My first guitar was a gift from my wife. She went to a music store and followed the sales person's advice, buying me a Peavey Predator exp plus. It's a great guitar, comfortable, easy action, sounds good and looks great!
My second is an electro-acoustic tanglewood indiana cutaway. I popped into a music store in Hull and saw this guitar reduced from £189 to £89. I picked it up and played a mangled version of Ziggy Stardust - probably the most impressive song I can almost play! Sounded great so persuaded the Mrs to shell out for it for my Christmas pressie!
It says it's an Indiana but seems to be a hybrid Indiana/Indiana Pro or maybe Sundance cos it's got Abalone 'Snowflake' fret inlays and it's quite pretty! The EQ isn't Tanglewood either, it's by B Band from Finland and worth around £80 so I got my guitar for £9.
Woohoo!
Happy Birthday, Jase!
Not quite 40 yet but a good start! Many more of them to you
WOOHOO! 40 years old!
Thanks a lot guys! Feels pretty much the same as 21 actually! Went to Windermere for a couple of days for the big 4 0... was misty for half of it but beautiful when the sun came out!
Had a lovely 4 course meal with expensive champagne courtesy of Mrs Bonedaddy - came in a wooden box with champagne flutes (wine not meal)
Then Grasmere for Sarah Nelson's world famous Grasmere Gingerbread - I brought some back for Y'all so enjoy!
Doc! saw that deathclock link on a previous post of yours! I will die aged 73! Not depressing at all
Thanks for your good wishes and enjoy your Gingerbread
Good man, don't stop!
I got a tanglewood Indiana pro electro acoustic for christmas not listed anywhere but I love it!
cheers
yeah, and massive amounts of recreational drugs
The end of a life but the beginning of another?
This is a cheeky little number about solitary pleasures of playing the guitar. The term 'spanking the plank' came from the UK music press in the '80s I believe. It means playing the guitar and nothing else! Enjoy
I [C]found a new use for my [F]webcam
I [C]strapped on and I started to [G]play
Used my [C]fingers and my chords
To [F]get my rewards
And I [C]really like to [G]play all [C]day
I’m [D]spanking m[D4] [D]y [C]plank

There’s [C]girls out there dressed in [F]short, curly hairs
But the [C]air on my G string’s more [G]pleasant than theirs
With [C]barre chords I’m crummy but I [F]really ain’t a dummy so
I’ll [C]spank by my-[G]self, [C]but occasionally share
I’m [D]spanking m[D4] [D]y [C]plank
Al[D]one i[D4] [D]n my [C]room
I’m [D]spanking m[D4] [D]y [C]plank
It’s a

Got some [C]great fret grease to [F]give me my release
My [C]action’s getting faster on the [G]neck

Well put the lyrics in, I wanna know what happened!
Welcome to chordie, the haunt of many amateur troubadours! Looking at this you'll fit right in
cheers
Hi LR
Saw the lyrics, great imagery as always! Had a bash with these chords - hope u like it.
cheers
I found a [C]man with his head in his [C7]hands
Who wore a dead [F]heart on his [Dm]sleeve[G]
And I saw a [C]beast with a collar and [F]crease
And a briefcase of [G]lies he bel[C]ieves
And I met a [F]girl who could cry for the [G]world
With [C]frail innocence [C7]loosely in hand
She [F]watched from her [F]corner
And [F]no-one would [F]warn her
Of [G7]things she will not under[C]stand
And then I saw a face in the throng
Who looked alot like me
Watching the crowd as it answered out loud
'I see the things you see’
That is a good song! Going back to one of your previous threads, where you ask for constructive criticism about use of english... That was spot on,
cheers
He may be ukrainian for all I care - check out any version of "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" and cry into your beard!
Particularly The Pogues, Joan Baez or June Tabor (not in any order)
I guess everyone I've heard songs by has had an input! I particularly like Bob Dylan and Eminem for words/rhythm but not necessarily content, darn those boys are good!
believe it or not, I stand in awe of yourself for the phrasing in your songs, and for the bleak poems of JasonHague here on Chordie too
I'm inspired musically by all I hear but limited by talent and patience to simple chord transitions and melodies.
cheers
