Your songbook can now be exported as an iPod Notes file. The layout options are fairly limited for these files, but I found them "playable".

I am looking forward to feedback on this. Is it useful?

For security reasons, posting attachments are not allowed at the moment. Could you send the attachment to admin@chordie.com?

When they show up in "print rpeview" it is most likely a local problem. I would have tried upgrading my printer driver.

Unfortunately the way this feature was implemented, caused other problems in printing. I decided to disable this feature. Multiple columns are supported natively in future versions of css, so the feature will come back. Only Firefox supports this today, and I might enable this for Firefox users.

Do they show up in "print preview"?

Since you asked for it, I will allow images in signatures. Any other opinions?

You are right. IE messes up this feature. I did not test after my last change. I am disabling this for now.

Could you send me links to songs where you are having problems? And with what browser. It is still an experimental feature. Expect it to take some time before everything works.

Did you check out the chord variations as well, Upyerkilt?

Both the features suggested here are now implemented. Thanks for the brilliant suggestions...:)

I am very pleased with the chord-variation-redefinition (or whatever I should call it). I think this will be very useful. Hope you all think the same.

The "replace chord names with chord grids" looks fancy, but I am not sure if I will be using that one myself. Please give me feedback on this. Can it be implemented differently? How does it run on slow computers (the javascript for doing this is really heavy...)?

This is now implemented. If you go to a song in your songbook, the tuning will automatically be updated if you change it.

No.

I am however planning another service that will allow just this. It has been in development for some time, but it is still not public.

It is a good idea. I will look at it.

Do you want to post images in the forum? If so, you can currently only link to images already available on the Internet.

The attachment seem to have been lost when I migrated to the new server. Could you send it to admin@chordie.com?

It would be fantastic to know how old the Chordie users are. My impression is that the site has a very wide age range, though it is probably a bit more 'grown up' than the other guitar chord sites. I did get a mail from a mother that were worried because her 12 year old kid was spending too much time on my site, and I got a mail from a guy well above 80 who told me that he and his wife spent every evening surfing Chordie and playing songs.

Sorry about that. Small typo related to the upgrade. Thanks for reporting it.

Now things are working again.

Thanks for telling me. This is one of the things that are not updated after switching to a new server. It will work again in a day or two.

Thanks a lot James. You even gave me the algorithm for removing these from the index.

I have now migrated most of the code to the new server, and have started the indexing.

OK. I will add this feature. First priority now is however moving to a new server. Then this will be fixed.

The url will still be the same. Apart from maybe a few hours downtime (and a few more hours where forum posting and new registrations will be closed), there should be no connection problems.

Chordie is moving to a new location. The new location is a lot more central to the Internet backbone, and most users should experience a performance improvement. The hardware is also upgraded. The main reason for the move is however stability. Chordie is now being hosted in a professional data center with 24-7 support.

I will also reindex the database - meaning tons of new songs...<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

I will work full time on the migration the next days.

To improve the next index, I will however need some help from you: Please send me urls to songs without chords. I have had complaints about lyrics-only songs, but I do not have enough examples of this to find a pattern. With your help such songs will be non existent on the new server.

The Facebook-group called Chordie could be a great place to find fellow musicians in your area. It is still fairly small, but when it grows, the network-info could be used to find people close to you.

Please sign up to it here:

There is now a group for Chordie users on Facebook:

<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2359077351&ref=mf" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2359077351&ref=mf</a>

Who will be the first to register?

The old forum will of course still be available. Unfrotunately I have not found a way to migrate the posts to the new software.

Another area for more informal chats will be the Facebook-group called Chordie (see separate post). <a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2359077351&ref=mf" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2359077351&ref=mf</a>. It is an experiment. I barely registered on Facebook myself. Lets see if such a group will work.

I am following this discussion, and are listening to all the good arguments.

As a side-note: There will be a change in the forum software. I need something that is more stable. There are a few bugs related to the log in that I am not able to fix. This means all the forums will have to start from scratch (sorry).

However this is a very good opportunity to reconsider the forum structure.
