Well, I am having issue understanding much more than the chorus, but it's pretty cute!  My husband keeps asking me to write him a song too, and I haven't been able to yet.  I finally learned how to play one that he asked me to.

I really like the chord progression, the song has a nice feel to it!  smile

Awesome Badeye!  That's the way it SHOULD be!  We always wait till the weekend for the big fireworks in each town even if our day falls on a weekday.  Some towns do the fun events on the actual day however.  Pretty much, the entire weekend becomes a huge party.  Sounds like a rip roaring good time tonight!  Wish I was closer, I'd drive up and party with you, then you all could come down here and party with us!  HA HA!

Happy 78th to your Mom!

I agree with Jets... my favorite line:
"If whisky flowed down Whisky River,
I'd drink that river dry.
Then fill it back up again,
with all these tears from my eyes."

Good lyrics!  I like it bunches, and simple chords to boot!

That's interesting d-2700 ... I wonder if changing the nut would do the trick.  I don't know much about these things, but there's a few guys here at Chordie that do.  I'd say you've probably come to the right place to ask!  Welcome to the forums!!

Hi there Mightyger... I deleted your extra post with the request for the Doc Ellis song.  Double posting isn't necessary.

I did a search online and couldn't find anything for these songs.  Perhaps if you stop back in and let folks know you're still looking, some of the more seasoned players will give a go at trying to figure these out for you.

BTW... WELCOME TO CHORDIE!!!!

Richard, I did some searching and couldn't find any tab or chords for this song.  Maybe if you put up a link to the song being played some of our more seasoned players can figure it out for you.

BTW... welcome to Chordie and the forums!  smile

Welcome to Chordie funkman123!  I moved your post here to the Song requests section... and found these chords at another site for you:  http://www.e-chords.com/chords/trammps/disco-inferno

Have fun, and stop back in sometime and get to know some of the friendly folks here at Chordie!  There are stickies at the top of each forum and in the about section there are some general guidelines that we ask you follow.  Let us know how these chords worked for you!  smile

Happy Birthday Canada!

Badyeye - do you celebrate today or will you be joining the Americans this coming weekend with fireworks and bonfires with guitars this coming weekend during our Independence Day celebration?

Excellent Ray.  This one really speaks very loudly to the one thing that most people choose to whisper about while they want to shout.  Very well written.  Keeping that dog at bay...

Wayne - that's exactly what he's using, so I think your answer about the song title will be the key here.  smile  Son, if you had the sheet music you would be able to tell by looking at it.  Remind me to pull out some music and show you.  If you're just playing chords, a lot of time the first chord is a give away of the key a song is in too.  I like Wayne and Jerome's answers to "hear" it out...  You'll know way more before me in no time (you're getting pretty darn close already - and those scales I hear booming through the closed door are AWESOME!)

Welcome to Chordie Parttimer (and son)!  The images that show up on the right side of the screen when viewing songs are chord charts.  This page http://www.chordie.com/chords.php  on chordie is a great huge chord chart resource.

This chord is a D:
http://www.chordimages.com/ramimages/i2/Dchord_NN0232_1.png

The chart/image represents the fretboard.  The top horizontal line represents the nut (tippy top of the guitar), each line under that represents a fret.  The vertical lines represent the strings.  The line on the far right represents the high E string (thinnest string, the one on the bottom when holding the guitar).  The dots show where you fret the strings.  The X on top indicate to you not to play those strings, and the O on top indicates to leave that string open and play it (not to fret it).  So in this example you do not play the two low strings (strings on top of the guitar when you're holding it - the Low E and A strings).  You leave the D string open and do play it.  The G string is fretted on the 2nd fret, the B on the 3rd, and the high E on the second.

On this site http://justinguitar.com/en/BC-108-TABandBoxes.php you can view a better and probably easier to understand explanation!  It also will show you the basics on how to read tab.

Never feel silly for asking a question here.  Everyone is really quite helpful and friendly... and we all started somewhere!

No, however a quick search found this:

Is that it?

DM - I didn't ever take any kind of training like that.  I've done a lot of other weird training over the years however for jobs.  I don't dream much when I sleep, but anytime I was doing extensive training and memorizing stuff that doesn't make much sense in the real world I would start dreaming about it.  I guess it's a way the brain helps to sort it all out, although it's frustrating to know something is consuming you so much that your brain's working on it even when you're asleep.  Study hard and do what you can to get it done.  I agree with Zurf - if YOU aren't the one that gets the certification to carry with you then you have the option to question if it's worth it to YOU to stress so much or not.  On another token, even if YOU don't get the certification, the fact that you took and passed a bunch of these tests CAN still go on your resume.

It sounds to me that taking these tests is similar to taking Calculus ... it "could" have real world application but mostly it's just another notch for your resume in the end (and some flashy notch on the belt for the company you work for).  Good to have if you ever need it, and clearly of value to your company for you to have it.  Maybe there's a raise coming your way if you pass enough of these tests too!

Good luck... and remember to take a break for at least 15 minutes here and there to play your guitar and unwind just a little!  smile

Ha ha Roger!  I will see what I can do about that... I'm curious to know myself how funny I look doing them!  big_smile

Mark - my parents taught me a valuable lesson... don't do what they did!  LOL!  I had the brains to be a doctor and was pushed to follow my love of animals and be a veterinarian.  I dropped out of that schooling before I even started.  My true love was in the arts (music most specifically - surprise?)... yet I was pushed away from that because I was "smarter than that" and music wasn't a "good career choice, just a good hobby".  I refuse to do that with my kids.  Do what you love, whatever it is... and if you can make money doing it all the better!  Also good to note that you can have many loves... but the true love is the one you need to follow.

Prayers for Gary's surgery to be as successful as possible

Thank you guys!  She just started taking classes last year (around her 4th birthday in February).  She talked non stop about how that was the only thing she wanted for her birthday present.  That was half way through the school year (dance school runs on the same schedule as regular public schools).  We were told when she started that she might not be able to be in the recital last year in June because she had so much to learn to catch up with the girls.  By the time last years recital came around, Stephanie was standing center stage in front of all the other girls as their "leader".

She really does live to dance.  It's non stop.  My goal is to encourage her to never give up doing this as long as she loves it.  Even if she doesn't grow up to be anything professionally in the field of dance, it's a great outlet just like music is to many of us here at Chordie!

Wayne - I love your story!  I can just imagine how proud your wife was!  I get the jitters when Steph goes on stage (you can probably tell from my wiggly camera handling!  LOL - oh and sorry for yelling in everyone's ear!).

Jeff - you can expect to enjoy more adorable videos from Stephanie and live vicariously through us.  smile

Toots - dedication - I have taken this to the point of actually letting her lead me through stretching exercises (she pretends to be the teacher) and I can actually do a bridge again.  The trick is remembering to do the stretches before attempting cartwheels.  OUCH!

I think it was Toots that asked recently when I was going to get another video up.  I hope to get to something soon, as I have been working on a few songs in my spare time.  BUT... more recently I've been so busy helping out my little one.  She takes dance classes, dances non stop around the house, and amazes everyone she meets everywhere she goes that there is a grass field or even a smooth sidewalk.  She's only 5, and she's kind of little for five... but she does the most amazingly perfect cartwheels, backbends, walkovers and just has that stage presence and spunk.  I know I'm a little biased by being her mom, but she's "something special"!

The dance school she goes to is excellent at making the 2 year olds feel special, and they're also well known for their amazing competition team in all forms of dance.  My daughter was asked to join the competition team at her elementary school... to do her tap routine (you can view it here, and my sincere apologies as my camera boffed up the audio - she actually did everything perfect, my camera screwed it up:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1hsZ6RVmsM ) as a part of a show put on for the PTO.  She did great, and the teacher was happy.  AFTER, she started off the schools talent show with a routine she made up all on her own (with very LITTLE help from me - most of it was just improvising on the spot because that's what she wanted to do).  The teacher had already been talking about her taking more classes, but after seeing this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7XdU8HG … re=channel was convinced she should probably be on the competition team next year (with a little more one on one).

After all this, she then had her recital.  She did that tap routine, a ballet routine and this acro routine (she's the one in the middle at the beginning and end, walking out toward the crowd upsidedown!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7XdU8HG … re=channel

And the ultimate ... at the end of the recital, 6 kids were awarded $50 scholarships toward their classes next year.  My little Stephanie was one of them!  The award was made by the school, in memory of the woman who started the school - The owner's late mother... and while reading off the details of the scholarship the owner got a bit teary eyed.  My husband and I were both choked up, I wanted to thank them and I could not bring myself to do it because I would have burst into tears (don't worry, a thank you letter is on the way).  This scholarship clearly meant so much to them and they gave it to my baby.  I am so honored and proud!

I already put info about this up on my facebook account, so I'm sorry for those that are reading this AGAIN... I just still can't get over how proud I am of her.  She is amazing to me.  So for those that aren't on facebook - here's a couple pictures of my little princess!

Hey Jim... that link kinda takes you to Youtube in a round about way... via facebook.  Here's the direct link to YouTube and the song for those interested:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_BnXPBznQ4

Very nice job Jim!  Honestly, I think you could just slow down a little - maybe even do a little practice with a metronome to keep you on track - you're gonna only get better and better!  Nerves of course will mess with anyone!  smile  I'm proud of ya and it sounds very nice!

That's a really sweet story Wayne.  How wonderful to have your little girl, as an adult, appreciating you and your music!  I agree, there's nothing quite like music to bridge a gap.  Play on!
