A lot of us, it is going better now, still start there wedding song, with a fantastic melodic tune. BUT do THEY UNDERSTAND what the lyrics are? This is a funny one, to find WEDDING SONGS, with lyrics who are not right on their place there.
I remember me a few of these songs, like 2 people choosing for a BEE GEE's song
- Don't Forget To Remember Me.
- Also heard once: Bye Bye Love Everly Brothers.
- How you gonna see me now: ALICE COOPER.
- Without You: the NILSSON version

My old time favourite is still my PRS CUSTOM 24, followed by a "customised black beauty, year 1968", I replaced the humbuckers by P-94's, SUPER, but I am afraid that my ex-girlfriend, put the original humbuckers outside with the trash. They can always be found on websites.
ACOUSTIC: strange thing, some songs are better with a GIBSON, others with a MARTIN

Re: confused again (6 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Sometimes, even if you play for years, you find a lot of new stuff or terminologies, and to be honest, it is really frustrating sometimes.
Like if you look for a song here, you can often see if it is written by (for) piano, or guitar. Also you will find the same song in a lot of chords, like Cdim, or F#7/9, and if you like to play, and you are already playing quit long, you can skip chords.
It should be a must to learn to read notes, and once you know how to read them, play them. Unfortunately, I am the old school, not speaking of "DO", but speaking of "C".

Re: 12 string tuning (6 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
The best thing to tune a 12 string is using a tuning device, it works fine with me, and the 2 small (thin strings) they are the same, so you will have a double E, I think that MARTIN has a guitar, with 7 strings, 5 normal and a double E (BYRDS Guitarist) for the "twang", there are even guitars now with a very normal model, but 8 strings. Never tried one.

Topic: GUITARPRICES (0 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
A few weeks ago, I asked if there were people who had maybe the luck to play an (ARTIFICIAL) high price Gibson Les Paul Standard 1959, they go easy up to 200.000$. This is not funny anymore.
THE only thing that seems interesting is, that that market is now like this, especially for 1959.
There I have 2 questions: WHICH GUITAR, let's SAY A GIBSON approaches the quality of a 1959, more specific the, also very expensive reissues, V.O.S, The wood they use to construct this guitar, is "aged", WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY AGED, a leftover from wood from the 50th-ies.
Another thing that is strange, they talk about PÄF's. The GIBSON LES PÄUL CUSTOM, always a more expensive model than the STANDARD, has probably also very good wood, and more specific 3 PAF's. IS IT NOSTALGIC, or REALITY.
I tried to figure it out, but I don't get an answer that is satisfied.
It is impossible, in my eyes, that they are so expensive, just because of Peter GREEN, Jimmy PAGE, Eric CLAPTON, even Paul MCCARTNEY has 1 of those, a "leftie".
I just want as many opinions as possible.
Thanks

At this moment, I use MARTINstrings on my acoustics, very good sound, but transpiration kill them.
I really need your opinion here "chordians".
- d'addario? acoustic-electric????
- ELIXIR strings, very expensive strings, are supposed to be the best, and that is what I wanted to know, they use a special nanoweb coating, so IS THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE WORTH TO PURCHASE ELIXIR STRINGS, and are they really better?

Re: drummers (7 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Is it true what they say: it is very difficult, at least for me, to be a JAZZ drummer. If you are a real good jazzdrummer, you can handle most of actual styles?
I forgot in my topic my all time favorite drummer JOHN "BONZO" BONHAM. Led Zeppelin, died to fast. He was so far as I am concerning, the driving force of the ZEPPIES, and was able to play very difficult stuff, with a lot of change in patterns. Led Zeppelin was a LOT MORE than PAGE and PLANT, I have the double DVD, produced by... Jimmy Page, = if you watch the dvd 15 minutes, you will see Page at meast 7-8 minutes, Plant about 4-5 minutes and the other 5 minutes: JONES & Bonham. JONES in fact was the musical genius there, played almost every instrument. But Page & Plant were better salesmen.

Topic: small recording devices. (1 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I really need to know good information about all the, at this time, existing, SMALL "boxes, containg a lot of technical stuff.
Best examples are for me
BR-600 Digital Recorder with drumpatterns, in fact a device at maximum cost 500$. You have also the little Boss MICRO BR, with a four-track studio with four simultaneous playback tracks. I still don't know what the virual tracks are. Do you "chordians" have experience with this item? You can play guitar, even more than one, and probably erase things, add things, AND THERE IS A RYTHM SECTION ON BOARD, drums, bass, infact the only thing left is the singing part. As I read, it seems that this device, is one of the best, VERY small recording devices, it allows you too, to put YOUR song on a regular PC. DO YOU NEED SPECIAL SOFTWARE? and that song can be appear on sites like myspace and/or youtube, allowing people to judge. I like even NEGATIVE critics, as long as the critics are constructing. There many other devices like ZOOM H4 Handy Digital Recorder, as you can read I am looking more specific, for small devices, those you can take everywhere, in your pocket. This ZOOM has already a kind of recording "head", same question, similar with boss mr br, very "modest" products, very useful, as for beginners, as for more professionals, IS ADDITIONAL software requiered?.
I have 4 "effect" devices, a zoom, 4 pedals, or banks, since 10 years, still working super. I have a line 6 POD live floor, with a variation of amps, tones, but this was after months a mistake, the music store knew that I had a FENDER CYBERTWIN, best amp I ever saw, so using my line 6 here is stupid. I have bought once a Marshall Valvestate also 12 years ago, one of the first straight from the customs, in fact not for sale, because of a little (even not so) scratch on the amp, meaning not longer for sale, followed by a nice red boss vf-1, still for sale and having it already so long: means very good. The best buy for me, being a loner, was the Korg Toneworks Pandora device, you can use another model for acoustic playing. IT IS AMAZING WHAT THAT BOX CAN DO, SO SMALL, and yet SO GREAT. I even use it a lot playing electric on an acoustic marshall amp. For me this is one of the best devices, containg (limited, but enough) rythm, drum & bassloops, also opportunity to use it as "compagnon", to practise, following the rythm.
So:
- Is there anybody who knows these things, and how to use them properly, because I don't find my manual, like using it for recording. Same question for line 6, POD, is it containing drum and bass? Zoom I know what he can do, still sold after 10 years.
- Is there anybody who can tell me more about, NON EXPENSIVE, devices, Boss, Zoom, Edirol. I would be very freatful to hear what you think about is, before buying another "box"
Thanks for reading and understanding.
I do hope to find "an expert" here, who can inform me better.

What is the opinion here, concerning those websites.
I know there are groups, getting a contract thanks to those sites. WITH ALL THE NEW possibilities, it should be a dream to see yourself on these sites.
You can even show a "record" you made, using extra things, like boxes containing a lot.

Re: What is the name of your band? (61 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I don't have a name, because I don't have a band. I just play with one of the 2-3 best friends I have, he is drummer, did drumming in studio's and believe it or not, I am better one one hand and worse on the other hand. A drummer playing guitar (dave grohl started also playing drum, and changed instument when "nirvana" stopped, playing guitar now. They are so good in the 1 2 3's, and I learned a lot of that friend.
I am always thinking of a good name: I always return to the silly name docphil and the rocking nurseband"

Topic: who is or was the best bass guitar player (17 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
- I know the value of having a super rythmsection. If you are the singer, or the guitar"man" you need in fact to follow them. Mostly these men are obliged to follow the singer & guitar.
BUT, this has to do with my topic, the best bassguitarplayer on this globe= JAKO PASTORIUS. It is unbelievable what that man "squeezed" out of his bassguitar. You can find work here and there of JAKO, and in stead of the guitar playing solo, he does the same wirh his guitar.
The poor guy, I don't discuss usus or abusus, received some punches from a bodyguard on a Carlos Santana concert, they didn't (or did they) know who he was, and if you are living with your mind in another level, he started or provpced a fight. BYE BYE JAKO.
Another real good bass guitar player is, paul jones: led zeppelin again.
I know that there are many bass players who started as guitar players. This is a reason that can "kill" a group, before breaking trough. My brother he can tell that a lot better. He was member, guitarist about 40 tears ago. In that same group I started too, with an "illuster" acoustic guitar, I put in the electronics, I was at the university then, and the main members were the drummer and my brother, untill one day, two, very good playing guitarists coming for another group, told him to stay but to play the bassguitar, he refused, end of story. Same with paul mccartney.

I am very interested in the AGE of most chordians. There are very wise people, really very experienced.
I am from 1955.
I don't know what or if you want to write your year of birth, but just the fact that people from all different ages, even generations, are on this site, helping each other, with advise, opinion, I was like I told very interessed to see a kind of "AGE" graphic.

Re: Stagg (5 replies, posted in Electric)
Well, in a kind of miraculous way, a friend of mine asked me one of my guitars, straight from my collection. I should start a bussiness, "hire a topbrand guitar here." I gave him, because he wanted to, and after listening and playing, use my Gibson Les Paul Custom, very nice and brilliant sight, but a CHINESE copy, I once prurchased on eBay, knowing that it wasn't the real thing. But he loves this guitar so much that he want to buy it. An occasion, difficult to get an offer for a "fakie", and I will just have my money back, I am too honest to ask a lot, knowing that this guitarplayer wants the GIBBIE" so bad. He gave me, to see the difference, a STAGG telecaster, I have a 1952 reissue, in ugly surf green. There is a quit big difference, but you have to see that my tele is already a custom shop tele. In a "crystalclear" channel, using mostly my marshall acoustic 100W, you hear the difference quit good. BUT starting with devices, my favourite is KORG PANDORA, with 15 amps, and also about 50 different sounds (it is also a very small device), and you start playing with distortion, flanger, name it.. the difference between those 2 guitars is more difficult to see, or should I say hear. If I didn't own so much "vintage" guitars, to play and to collect: THIS STAGG would be probably my first choice, cheap, very nice and smooth neck, and very easy to play, it is even better, talking about the neck, because the tele I have, is more difficult to play. Tonight he'll bring me a stagg stratocaster. I REPEAT, THE MORE YOU USE DISTORTION & OR EFFECTS, THE LESS YOU HEAR THE DIFFERENCE. I should try to compare once a squier tele or strat.

Are there people who own a guitar of the brand STAGG.
I have seen a few STAGG guitars, they are really perfect duplicates of expensive guitarbrands , I recently saw 2 models: stratocaster blonde, and also a telecaster same color. I didn' have the occasion to play on them, that's the reason why I ask this question here, fellow chordians.
Is STAGG a good brand?, worth more than the price?

Topic: What is your electric "dream guitar", even if you don't have it. (35 replies, posted in Electric)
My favorite guitars are.
1/ Paul Reed Smith, I have the custom 24, very versatile and playing like butter. Also the EG series, sad enough, only made from 1990 -1992, except 1 model : 1994. There is an EG reissue, made in Korea, I think.
2/ I am a PRS man, but I adore a good Gibson Les Paul.
3/ Fender Telecaster, look at the simplicity of the construction, simple, but SO effective.Same category, the stratocaster.
For other brands like Rickenbacker, Gretsch, and many others, I can't discuss, but I am sure that there are jewels to find in other brands.

Topic: THE concert that is burned forever in your mind. Your best concert ever seen. (27 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cool.gif" border=0 alt="Cool"> I like to hear the opinion of the "chordians" about a concert they saw. Just saying the words best concert, you will have a pop-up almost immediatly.
You can make a list, or you don't. All extra's are welcome, in particular the "showaspect" ( I sometimes think that musicians with a super show like The Rolling Stones, U2 , use them to cover up there mistakes, just like illusionists like Copperfield do.
My best concert is, definitely, miles before my second.
1) 1976: BARCELONA: performance CARLOS SANTANA and Guests. The guest was PACO De LUCIA, never heard of him untill that evening. The concert, or performance started at 19.00h sharp and stopped at 01.00h in the night. It started with a SUPER, NEVER SEEN Flamenco performance by Paco, all the spanish people in the "bull-fight" arena went crazy, I am talking about at least 100.000 people. 1 Hour later: viva carlos santana
played all his hits and more, in 1976!!!. Around 23.30
concert stop. People were even leaving, BUT that was the most amazing part: it started in full darkness, they just put the stage lights on the player, a special, more "poppy" flamenco: Paco was there again. Lights out, a second guy played along: yes CARLOS, and this game lasted until there were 10 guitar players, all playing the same song, but all in different ways, capo on the 3th fret, on the 5th fret, another rythm, another solo in that way, another in a different way. This my fellow chordians, is a day I will never ever forget.
2) Being backstage doctor, I saw a lot of super performances, on a festival, the biggest in Europe. I even made very good friends, like chris rhea, dave grohl and a lot other musician. But what I will also NEVER forget, that I was invited by the singer of the CURE, on stage. It was 22.30, so it was dark, you could see still at least a huge crowd, with their lighters. Same thing happened with Dave Grohl and Neil Young. Why: because you, not belonging on stage, were able to see the audience, around 80.000 people, and you sop "thinking" that you are NOT a member, altough you feeled like one. That is the best drug I ever had, also a once in a lifetime experience.
