SouthPaw - that is an incredible story. I could not imagine having to switch from playing from right handed to left handed. For you to go through that and make it as a professional musician is inspirational. I'll think of your commitment next time I struggle to hit that chord that I'm fighting with.
The power of music never ceases to amaze me. Ray Charles comes to mind - what he had to fight through. He became an icon. I saw him live many years ago - free show at a state fair - it gave me chills, near to tears. Music comes from your soul, your fingers are only playing along.
Best of luck to you rgross. I have a feeling that you will overcome this.
My wife got me the Plant / Krauss CD for Christmas and after only 1 listen, I concur with Doc, it is fantastic. A neat mix of blues, bluegrass and some classic Plant vocals on a few tunes that remind me of his Zep days.
Glad to see the love here for the Circle albums. I have the original 3 album set on vinyl and back in those days I was a teenage rocker (my friends thought I was crazy for playing / enjoying that). That album alone gave me a huge appreciation of bluegrass & country.
Merlefest is an incredible, diverse showcase of talent. I consider myself lucky to live so close to that annual festival.
wow,admins r more helpful than i thought.and wut about fox sunday night,might b triky 2 find
LOL lil, thanks (I think).
NBC's sunday night football is adopted from Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You" retitled "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night".

I haven't had any luck in finding the revised lyrics; maybe because they change slightly every week.
Actually the song is by Hank Williams Jr. "All My Rowdy Friends Are Comin' Over Tonight" with a few lyric changes but the original is available here on Chordie
For anyone looking for their first taste of Bluegrass, I would recommend the album "Will The Circle Be Unbroken". The album is attributed to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, but includes many legends of Bluegrass.
From Wikipedia:
Will the Circle Be Unbroken is a 1972 album officially by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, but with collaboration from many famous Bluegrass and country-western players, including Roy Acuff, Mother Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Merle Travis, Bashful Brother Oswald, Norman Blake, and others. It also introduced fiddler Vassar Clements to a wider audience.

While the first album is the best by far, there are some gems in the 2 follow up albums as well. The box set (5 CD's, 1 DVD) for $30 is a bargain.
I can see clearly now - Johnny Nash .............. J

Wow - How did I almost miss this thread?
I agree with the others here that voted for the originals. Scott's vocals are a large part of what makes AC/DC. Although Johnson is an excellent replacement, there's always something about the original. Quite honestly, the BnB album was so overplayed, I kind of lost interest at that point.
Same thing for Van Halen. Although I was and still am a Sammy Hagar fan, before (going back to Montrose) and after VH, I never did go much for the Van Hagar or other variations of Van Halen after DLR.
Seen both bands in concert many times and by all accounts the new VH tour is rockin'!

^ Glad you enjoyed it James. (All in good fun of course) Here's another.
How long does an autoharp stay in tune?
About 20 minutes, or until someone opens a door.
What – No joke thread here?
Every good message board / forum I have ever belonged to has a standing Joke Thread for members to share their favorites. I looked back 5 or 6 pages here and didn’t see one. Figured if there was one older than that, they would be stale, so I though I’d start a fresh one up.
I’ll start this with a few that are in theme with the site, but no need to limit the thread to a “musical" topic. Please share any jokes you enjoy.

Hi Ark.
I spend a large amount of time on-line and volunteered to help out in monitoring the forum in order to eliminate the spam that was frequently being posted. I specifically wanted to help get rid of the porn as soon as possible.

Count me in the group of 40 somethings discovering or rediscovering the joys of making music. Seems to be quite a few of us out here. Welcome to chordie and have fun!

The person below me plays something other than, or in addition to the guitar.
Another simple game. Name a song you can play, the title must be in alphabetical order.
I’ll start:
A – Another Saturday Night (Sam Cooke original 1963 – Covered by Cat Stevens 1974)
Next one is B (song title)
First song - geeze, must have been 30+ years ago from a mel bay book or something. Probably Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Hardest current song - Anything by John Prine - simple chords, but I am struggling with the fingerpicking!

Hate to see the good ones go so young. Zevon, Zappa, Lennon and many others before them.
The person below me never heard of Dan Fogelberg before tonight and thinks 56 is an old geezer.
Fantastic songwriter, RIP Dan.
Never met any except for the few friends that I've had to join chordie. I'd love to jam with some fellow members though....Anyone close by? Southeast NC? Peace!
Hey Guitarpix - Let me know if you're ever in the Winston-Salem area, beers are on me.
