That's very interesting - did you contact her and check it out? I imagine they never did put them into serious production due to the fact that you can't use any amp... just what's included. No upgrading available. Still, pretty cool idea they had with this!

Happy NGBD (new gig bag day)! LOL! Good for you! It's always nice to get a new toy or accessory for our guitars. Bonus to get something that's going to keep your guitar nice and safe and have lots of room to bring all those goodies along!

Have you tried viewing it with the iphone version of the site? try this: http://www.iphone.chordie.com - I really have no clue if that will help or not. I noticed while viewing on my cell phone (moto droid), this version of the site helps to keep the frames in place better when viewing songs. Good luck! That looks like a fun little toy you've got!

Valh - Chordie does not host any songs, it's more of a search engine finding songs that are hosted on other sites and putting them into a nice friendly format that is easily searchable. Please read the FAQ here for more info: http://www.chordie.com/faq.php
That said, once you have your song hosted elsewhere on the internet, if you would like it to show up in Chordie during the next indexing you may submit the link here: http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php

Oh Wayne, thank you sooo much! It took a LOT of work, tries and figuring to get it. At one point I almost ripped the paper I had printed it on up because I thought I'd never get it... or I would get it and couldn't sing it at the same time. I hope you and Lizzie are enjoying your reunion! My husband didn't work his day job this past week, we just lounged around the house together during the days
That is a very pretty song... I will have to print that one out

Topic: Tequila and Jack (32 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I have finally done it - I wrote a song for my husband. He has to fight with the kids so much for my attention and asked for a song um... months ago when I wrote the other ONE. I don't feel that writing songs is really "my thing", but recently someone else said they liked my singing and would love to hear some "original" music. I don't know when I became a "musician" that writes tons of original stuff, but heck it's worth a shot!
Every word in this means something in our 10 year relationship. Crazy, we met and fell in love in a bar so hat's off to our friends Tequila, Jack, Vodka and Beer because without them we may have never met one another! LOL! It kind of runs on one verse into the next, with an upbeat "lets go out drinking" feel. I don't drink Tequila ANYMORE!
Tequila and Jack by Amy Wall
*edited one chord in the song... it was off

Ha ha Jim! I don't think I would ever get a portrait tattoo or names (except maybe my kids). I figure, since all the tattoos I have are done by him, he's already got his mark on me. LOL! Likewise, I drew up a tattoo for him that he actually tattooed on himself... so there's my mark on him! LOL!
Jim, I honestly have to say that I think your voice has AWESOME potential. You have a good natural sound, very pleasant. Hone that along with the guitar skills that you're gaining and everyone around is really going to enjoy it even more with you! I hope that didn't sound negative at all because it's not. I can just hear how great your voice is going to be the more you practice (it's not bad now)... and you have a way with your strumming that is really coming along great. I can't believe you've only been playing for a very short time... you have it in you sir!

Toots! Sounds like everything is working out perfectly. I'll guess her plan all along was to have a few different folks in there playing to keep things fresh and new. You were here stand in guy while she was finding some more, I'd say that's a huge honor and now you are rewarded with some time off, some time to play, and some time to be on stage. AWESOME! Wish I was in Alabama right now so I could stop by for a big ole Catfish and some music.

Re: Strumming pattern (4 replies, posted in Song requests)
You're welcome. Remember that when you play a song, without an entire band behind you, it's a matter of your interpretation. So don't get too hung up on a pattern being totally perfect. My dad and I strum the same songs somewhat differently (and we're talking simple songs!). The most important thing is to have fun! Try a few different patterns and see what works best for you. Good luck and have fun!

Re: Strumming pattern (4 replies, posted in Song requests)
I'd love to help you out, sadly I'm not very good at writing in words how to do a strumming pattern. It sounds like (1)down... (2)down... (3)down up up (4)down up ... does that help (I put it into 4 beats rather than 8)? Pretty cool song I never heard before though! Thanks for bringing it up. I haven't been at this for a year yet, so I could be way off... but I'd try something like that for starters (I might have to listen to this a few more times and try it now too!) If anyone is interested in trying their hand at a strumming pattern, or just listening here's a youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCBSq7g9z0w

Re: Chords G, C, D songs (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
MeKidsmom, I haven't given up playing and don't intend to. I did take some time away from the 6 string to play around with a 4 string Cigar Box Guitar.... Big mistake, it is so totally different. It's fun to look at and play around with, but it requires a whole new set of skills that I don't want to tackle at this time. I started using the Capo today. I learned you don't just clamp it on and expect to hear great sounds. I have really learned to respect the people who play guitar so well. Practice, Practice, Practice.... Ohh, the bone bridge still sounds great. Did you get one yet?
I am happy to hear that Tony! I was a little concerned with that Cigar Box Guitar... I get the impression that they are two completely different animals (so to speak). Good to hear you're trying out that capo too! When you wrap your head around the theory just a little and use that conversion chart, it'll open up a whole new world with just those couple of chords you already know well.
No, I didn't get a bone bridge yet. I just changed my strings on my steel string for the first time, and at first I was happy with the sound. Now, not so much. So, I am working on finding some strings that I really like over the course of the next few months. I am thinking maybe once summer is over I'll look into that again. (guitar playing and wedding anniversary time you know)

Re: Going mad as hell. (18 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Thanks a lot . To be honest I am only a beginner and I really haven't a clue as to what cords I play when using the capo. sorry but thanks for your comment.
NELA wrote:Astro5mile, just curious - what chords are you playing when you capo the 2nd fret? If you are playing G, C & D your key is "A". If you are playing C, F & G your key is "D". If you are playing A, D & E your key is "B". You said that without the capo the music drowns out your voice, thats what got me confused. But by all means - use a capo. It's not cheating - it's the best tool you have if you know where and how to place it to get the sound you want / need. Awhile back I got Topdown to help me post a capo conversion chart on the forum. It's a great tool to use and it;s very easy to read. Take a look at it (if you haven't already). Sometimes you may want to capo up and try Bb or Eb as your key. I know a lotta ladies who sing in that key.
Nela
I believe what NELA meant to ask was what chord shapes are you playing? Meaning, if you're playing the G, C and D shapes with the capo on the second fret then you are actually playing in the key of A. That's good to know, because then you could look into songs that utilize the key of A without the capo as your voice might sound good there without it. Just a thought to help you try some more chords without using the capo.
Of course, you don't need to... if you're happy then just use the heck outta that thing! I have been using my capo more and more these days to be able to play simple chord shapes on songs that would otherwise be more complex. I don't consider it cheating, just an easier way to play more stuff when your fingers aren't ready for the more difficult shapes! Plus, it's a heck of a lot easier to just throw the capo on than to try to transpose sometimes! Easy does not equal cheating

I do that too, but sadly...whenever I buy something from Music & Arts, they just go to the Guitar Center website and order it online if they don't carry it in the store.
=[
Dm
Gasp! Well, at least they will get it for you even if they don't carry it in the store... but at what price does this "service" come? Do you end up paying the GC price, do they raise the price, do they make any $$ off of it? That seems very odd.

Re: When you're in the guitar store.... (20 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Yes, yes and yes. I have a few stores like that... and sadly both my guitars were from guitar center. I did go to the smaller guys first and enjoyed playing with a few they had and tried to give them my business. I do the same as Zurf, I buy my strings and picks and such at the small stores. I also hunted around for the best price on the H2 when hubby bought it for me, and there was no "best price" except online... so I sent him to the small music store. I look forward to the day when I buy a guitar from the "little guy"!

If you are patient, and are saving the money over the course of 6 months to a year... then you're being responsible and taking your time. BUY IT! Unless of course, something else comes along in the meantime that costs a little less that you have the money for right away... then buy that, and start saving all over again for the next itch!

Re: Chords G, C, D songs (25 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Tony, I've been wondering how you were doing with your playing. I'm glad to hear you're still trucking along! Don't forget about justinguitar.com for lots of free lessons to get those other chord shapes down well. I would say look into A, E, Em, and Am as some good ones to work on. Here's a few in my book,
- If you put the Capo on the 4th fret, and learn the SUPER SIMPLE Em, you can do "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (G, D, Em, C).
- If you want to try "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty, it's just C, G, D ... but those are super fast changes (good practice!).
- "Blowing in the wind" adds a Dsus to your G, C, D ... just set your pinky down to make the sus chord and then lift it back up to go back to the D... it's really easy to do, try it, I think you'll like it!!
- Capo on 2nd fret and you can do "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat (G, D, C, G pretty much the whole thing)
I know these are not country or church music, but they're fairly well known songs you might want to try Good luck! Oh, and here's a link to a "cheat sheet" for using that capo! http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15164

Re: STRINGS (3 replies, posted in Electric)
Did you try strumming lightly, one string at a time to see if there is buzz? I do this when ever I hear buzzing in my strings, only to realize it's my fault due to not fretting well and not the guitar. As I understand it, electric string gauges run different than acoustics. Of course, the other guys here can tell you more. When it comes to the electric, I find it's a lot less forgiving on clumsy fretting compared to my non-electrified acoustics.
Since I've been at this for a short time (coming up on a year in a few months actually), I save my old string packages and write on them if I liked them or not. It reminds me what gauge I used and liked/didn't like... what brand, or type also.

Re: Music trivia (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I found a song by Rory Gallagher on limewire. The only thing it said was "blues guitar solo". I imagine it would be titled "When the guitar plays the blues" because that repeats in the chorus but I'm just guessing. I can't find this song anywhere. I'm looking for tab's.
Can anyone help me with this?
Danny, this question should be asked in the appropriate section "song requests" to get an answer. I suggest you start a new post there and delete this post. This thread is about music trivia and hijacking it to ask a question about a song is not appropriate on a forum. Thank you.
Now, back on topic
Hi Southpaw, I cheated and googled for the answer and was surprised to see Stevie Ray Vaughan name listed...good one.
Who was the backup singer on Carly Simon-Your So Vain??
I did not know the answer and googled it because I LOVE this song! I'm not revealing my find since it was trivia that I did not already know. In my search however, I found interestingly that "Carly Simon claimed the lover in 'You're so vain' to be a composite of several people including guest vocalist ... " Scandalous! I have always been curious about this one but never looked it up, darn I love the internet!
