A song that I do that is kinda modern is "hotel yorba" by the white stripes, G C D all the way thru, very catchy tune, easy lyrics. I am sure she could pick this one up if she likes it enough.

also another easy one but it has Am F G C for most of it and very repetitive is " otherside" by red hot chili peppers, it does go into Em and C.

Hmmm, although I am not too sure of the chords but that ronan keeton ( or however you spell his name) he has a few very easy songs.

and one more from the top of my head the thrills song " dont look back into the sun"  G D Em D C all the way thru.

hope this helps ye

house of the rising sun,

country roads

otherside ( chili peppers)

polly ( nirvanna)

hotel yorba ( white stripes)

breakfast at tiffaneys

it really depends what you like and what your voice can sing, if you are planning to sing or just play.

hope that helps you start off

Ken

zappa,

i noticed you did not include "stiff little fingers."

peobably not heard enough of their stuff I am guessing, forget about their old stuff ( although it is still fantastic), their latest album "guitar and drum" is one of my all time favourite cd's in the past ten years.

Hi ADMIN.

I was thinking would it not be a good idea to have in peole profiles their e mail address so peole can contact each other, thats if they wanted to submit an  email address.

reason I say is coz I saw that spammy ( my pet name for spaminator)said he had no means of recording and I can help him, but I had to submit my e mail address for everyone to see.

I know everyone would be able to see my e mail address if I had it in a profile but thsi just makes it that wee bit easier to get more junk mail, something I really dont need.

like lespaul I use cakewalk too, version 3. I find it fanstastic.
I have fruit loops on my pc too but still trying to work a lot out on it. I have no instructions as I illegally downloaded it ( oh yeah downloads are great)

i have a 4 track somewhere lying around, not used it in years but that was really good for its time.

I use a PZM mic coz I have not found any other mic that is good enough apart from a compression mic but the one I used was about £120 and though too dear, stick to the £50 pzm.
What mic you use makes a big difference.

true about the beatles, but if it were not for ELVIS, chuck berry eddie cochran etc then the john lennon would have had no insperation to play. He is well know to have said he wanted to play and write songs so he could be like elvis, ( or something along those lines)

Ken

I see with this thread people are just typing in their favourite band and not really thinking of success that bands have had or still having, i.e. SLIPKNOT??? come on, do they sell out thousands upon thousands worldwide??? no, I dont think so, so they cannot be included as well as a few more mentioned here, might be good or great bands but not the best of all time.

best of all time have got to be bands that have heavily influenced lots of other bands, and would have to be bands that have outsold all the crap you get around for a few years at a time.

my list of all time greatest bands ( and some I dont listen to but respect them for what they have done for music)

in no particular order

Beatles.....U2.....R.E.M.......Rolling stones....pink floyd......AC DC.........iron maiden.......Bob Dylan........eagles........thin lizzy..........the who.......and and and, yeah my mind has went blank, but there are a few more out there.

and incidentally a bit of useless information U2 I tihnk are the longest running band that have kept the original members followed closely by rem. And I know maybe the eagles have but they split up. If I am wrong I would love to be corrected.

enjoy yer strumming

Jake has just released a new solo album. Nothing like stiff little fingers. But it still has a sort of punkish attitude, sort of irish punky sort of thing.

Also sounds a bit irish folk

excellent album.

called drinkin again. released on the 27th march.

if anyone works out any songs, please submit the chords,

I cant finger pick either really.

well I try but I guess it is not "real" finger picking whatever the hell that is meant to be. I tihnk if yer not strumming and using yer fingers and picking it IS finger picking whether correct way or wrong way to some people.

My wife can finger pick fantastically, each finger to a string.

I randomly finger pluck. I hold on the chord and let two or three fingers wander over the strings, and it seems to work most times. I have even been complimented on my style so for this finger picking properly crrap ( sorry to whoever said this by the way) ye can think again.

Because one person can do something much better and make it sound better it doesnt make it proper.

Saying that, lol, if you can get a finger to a string and play the way my wife plays, it does sound much better than me,lol

you dont have to follow in line to everyone, choose your own style and stick wit hit until you master it or at least make it sound passable, if yer not getting paid for playing the guitar then why worry

hi admin,

How about a section for people like me reqesting chords that are not on chordie. I am looking for more stiff little fingers, Jake burns' solo stuff, the alarm and a lot more.

Been a member of chordie for....for.... for hmmmmm, a few years and seen it change and progress, getting better all the time.

credit to the webmaster and anyone else that has produced this web site as I need all the help I can get with chords, lol. especially the chords that are not basic ones and the wee diagram shows ye what it is. fantastic !!!!

a few good songs to learn a bit of rythum. if you cant get these then I would give up and start playing electric lead guitar.

Lying eyes by the eagles,, knocking on heavens door by anyone

polly by nirvana.........passanger by iggy pop.

there are a lot more but try them first.

try playing along once then try without playing along to the music. When you play along with the music you might not get it exact and might be better doing it your own style.

I dont play every song the same way as the artist.

when playing without listening to the music, have the tune of the song in your head and do steady strumming

have fun
