first of all - that video - amazing animation.!!

That song is one of the best songs ever written !
the opening rift is is so good - seems godly.

As you can tell - it is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I appreciate that you took time out of your schedule to record it. 
It's funny how when I hear you play it I thought of a couple lyric changes as well.

It was a little faster tempo than I expected, but I loved the style you played it in and your Texas voice just adds to it.

I am envious of your talent, but thank you so much for sharing it .

BTW - you forget to answer my question - do you ever play gigs in Austin ?

Ed does a lot of work for charities, big donor to cancer research.

as far as his music - he has some real nice songs (31 top 10 hits) , and some album fillers, just as all the rest do.
His new album however called " Subtract"  came out this past May - and it was different.  His wife Cherry had a cancerous tumor develop while pregnant - and they could do nothing about til after the child was born.  All went well, they welcomed a baby girl (Jupiter)  and then had the  tumor removed and she was cleared of cancer - but had to undergo some weeks of radiation - she is cancer free.      He also had one of his best friends, Jamal Edwards, die unexpectedly (cocaine and alcohol mix)at the age of 31.
He said it changed him - he threw out over a hundred songs that he had written too choose from for the album - he said ....

"For the first time I'm not trying to craft an album people will like, I'm merely putting something out that's honest and true to where I am in my adult life.

"It's opening the trapdoor into my soul."   "I wrote without thought of what the songs would be, I just wrote whatever tumbled out. And in just over a week, I replaced a decade's worth of work with my deepest, darkest thoughts. ( he went into depression for weeks)
he said " this album was written against "a backdrop of grief and hope".

one other thing ....
He found out that a young woman with downs syndrome was getting married in the USA and he was touring near that city.
He surprised her and her husband at the wedding  reception and played " Thinking Out Loud" for her  - took some pictures with her and her family - - and then left.

The album Subtract  has become one of the fastest selling albums ever.
I do like him better than the rest though due to his compassion and personality.

it was just a moment in time
wrote a poem that didn't rhyme
some new old words, just different lines

it was read by a friend who was a mime
he gave me the silent treatment , he then left cryin'
guess he didn't think it was worth a dime     

Then Brian and Peatle went to read the rhymes
down by the river, near the Radiata pines
neither brought any beer, it was such a crime

a beautiful lady came by, dressed to the nines
I asked her to read it, but she was blind
so we just talked, and drank Kusuda Pinot Noir from NZ vines

I read her the poem in that moment  in time
she thought it filled with omens, and all kinds of signs
we spent the day together 'til the sun didn't shine

EB, Peatle,and I went to a Christchurch Pub they hang out in sometimes
we met up with Jan who used her beautiful voice to sing out the lines
the words came alive, they flowed so smoothly, like 40 year wine

I've been around, met different people of all kinds
been to the mountaintop,and  worked in the mines
just like the poem, seems  life can get crazy sometimes

it was just a moment in time
when my friends from New Zealand read those rhymes
seems it ended up being some of the best of times.

The song is called Elmore James - its about .....
Elmore James (né Brooks; January 27, 1918 – May 24, 1963) was an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader
Noted for his use of loud amplification and his stirring voice,
One of his most famous songs was Dust My Broom,  which has been covered by  about blues player that ever made it big.
James was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
His slide guitar technique earned him the nickname "King of the Slide Guitar".

That song is awesome !  Your voice and playing are great as usual.

I still think it would be a great fit - you would be the man to sing that song I wrote ( if you ever get the time).

On a side note Mojo, as a Texan - I thought you'd like this .....  I was on a cruise in Europe a few weeks ago and one of the women on the cruise was from Austin - a seventh generation Texan.  Her great,great, great grandfather was Jesse Billingsly - a soldier that fought at the battle San Jacinto.
