This is a quit complex problem, you "might" hear a difference between a stratocaster MIM versus MIA.
If you work with effect floor boards or a "modelling amp" (I have a Fender cybertwin) and that amp gives you in fact too many effects, the SIMILARITY will be less using a high volume and gain, but greater if you use NOT 1 effect, JUST PLUG AND PLAY.

Russell, this is 100% correct, and if you use an instrument, we think oh a drum, in fact you can only hear, measure it if you put the different instruments + players 200 yard from your "experimental point"

Tooter, no serious.
WHICH INSTRUMENT GIVES THE LOUDEST SOUND WITHOUT USING AN AMP?
Actually Tubatooter, I was "charmed" by your nickname, so I made this thread.
1) Is it a DRUM
2) Is it a trumpet?

I HAVE A WRITERS BLOCK, I find a nice tune (THIS IS NO PROBLEM TO PLAY THE CHORDS) but
when I start to sing, (80%) own stuff, I loose it.
IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO REPLAY THESE CHORDS & SING. It sounds different.

I AM NOT AN AMERICAN, and I am not familiar with your system of law.
1) (DON'T JUDGE ME ON THIS) if you happen to be near a place were somebody is killed???? and they take you in custody the "suspect" is arrested and the interrogation starts there seem to be a certain "SYSTEM".
- At first you get coffee, the officer is polite and gives you a feeling of safety, later they start asking innocent questions, and a few cops are looking to "THE BODY LANGUAGE.
2) For us Europeans it is really funny to see a convicted man who gets "321 or 200 years" of prison.
3) What is 3th strike
- SAME CRIME, 1 killer is really rich, the other is poor, is there difference?
I have still a few Q's but I keep them for later

Topic: WEIRD BUT TRUE: NOISE IMPACT ON MUSIC (2 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I was watching a movie a few days ago, I heard a train, and the second time too, the noise is something like "taka boom, taka boom" and the first song that popped up was "BARRACUDA" BY HEART.
Cars, The "clicking noise of 100 photographers together", the "FEARED INSTRUMENT AT YOUR DENTIST.
There are so many rhythmic noises, so "normal" that you don't pay attention, like the subway.
WHO KNOWS OTHER SONGS INSPIRED BY NOISE?

This is a complex thread.
As "kilt" said: if I had the money.
THAT IS A CRUCIAL MOMENT, SOME CAN'T HANDLE SUCCESS.
I remember me AND WHO ELSE KNOW IT but in the seventies there was a DEAD LIST:
1) LOU REED
2) KEITH RICHARDS
on top, and see: both are alive. I also remember a fact from one of the many "biographies" that Keith survived because he had enough $$$$ to buy it = (drugs)pure

Best examples today:
- AMY WINEHOUSE
- PETE DOHERTY
- OASIS TOO.
They want to be famous, but they can't handle fame.
There are a lot of other artists who are more successful, and do not appear in "gossip" papers.

The song isn't difficult at all, but to get such refrain "scaramouch...., as if a "choir" is singing it was quit amazing back then

Topic: PLAYING ACOUSTIC (2 replies, posted in Acoustic)
- I believe a lot of people play acoustic and:
1) Playing on an electro-acoustic, PLUG IN AN AMP + play VERSUS
2) A common acoustic guitar with a transistor system, a pick-up OR
3) You sitting, 2-3 mics: (" PLEASE CORRECT ME") and placing the mics 1 in the guitar hole another almost on the last fret.
I believe 3 is rare now, but still, what will make the difference.
I use or a Marshall acoustic amp & sometimes a mic

This song is one of the best songs ever, ARRANGEMENTS & STRUCTURE.
WHO CAN PLAY AND SING THIS SONG IN 2009, AS IN 1975!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me it is a "genial" song, written by Freddy Mercury (Bulsara=strange real name)

That is more or less what I mean.
MOST IMPORTANT IS THE PLAYER.
If JIMI HENDRIX should play a SQUIER, I am still convinced that it will be difficult to hear if it is a Fender Strat, or Squier (even Stagg)

SPEAKING ABOUT USA, FENDER, RELICS, AND HERE THEY COME: THE LITTLE ONCE, Stagg.
etc............
YOU ARE BLINDFOLDED, YOU CAN TOUCH THE GUITAR, PLAY IT.
AN THEN YOU CAN JUDGE, of course this method in every brand.
I have a PRS EG USA: S - S - S and this is amazing, (the problem was that Paul Reed wanted to soon taking a piece of the fender market.
The others S - S - H and H - S - H
S = single
H = humbucker.
There is a battle between different brands in the 400 - 800$ range
