Topic: RETRACTION OF ANNOUNCEMENT (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I posted pre-maturely the other day. Yes I was asked to join Fatal Butterfly. I was very flattered and posted the picture (which I thought was pretty cool-) I had never been given that great a compliment.
After a day or two of thinking and a few other pieces of information, I decided to decline the offer.
I realized I just don’t have time for 2 bands, my kids, dating, My real job, and my detailing (which is almost not going due to sever lack of motivation in the winter rain and snow.)
Then the little phrase “Bring 4 of your songs to the set list so the band can learn them.”
I asked Toni (their drummer and my drummer) when the last time (Ill just say G as the one who “owns the band”) G wrote any new songs was. 3to 5 yrs was the answer. Then add on top that she leaves her guitar at Toni’s house and only plays it once a week. (EVEN FOR PUNK IT REALLY SHOWED).
So I say to myself “Scott, why take your good songs to someone who doesn’t practice or have the motivation to wrote?” That was a big factor to me. So I bowed out.
This past Tuesday, I was practicing with Toni on BAABY OH and her roommate wanted to sing. I said sure go for it. – he just didn’t get it. Tried using a growl and removing the OH and was talking about how it sounded better >>>>>> I was like NO that’s not how it goes. I got very possessive of how it should sound. But I backed off and said have fun, we are just jamming.
I learned some things all in that hour along with the prior experience.
1. Either I will defiantly be the primary voice, or I need to find someone willing to meet me close to my ear of how it goes.
2. I have been willing to let a singer move some of the more complicated verses around, BUT DON’T TAKE THE HEART OF THE SONG OUT
3. IF YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO WRITE ANY NEW SONGS IN 5 YEARS, I AM NOT GIVING YOU MINE
4. When you only play your guitar once a week- it shows. Even for punk.
5. Personalities make or break a band. (I think we all know this)
6. YES. THIS IS DEFINANTLY MY BABY AND I WANT TO KICK SOME TAIL!!!
7. In a light hearted joke- I need to teach Toni how to pronounce “Dissonant” LOLOLOL
Also I am thinking that CSNY “LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH” is also ripe for a makeover

Here I sit, I’m swiping my time away,
All the sudden you say Hey!
An you say “let’s have a meet and greet”
I get excited and I tap my feet!
All going as I hoped it could.
I am Feeling good, I’m totally stunned
Talk comes easy as I knew it would
Little do I know you’re ready to run?
Why spend the time, making me worry if I’m not great
Money spent! Instead of rent!
Get off the site if you’re not ready to date,
Only to hear
“You are a great guy, but I’m not ready to date” (spoken)
What a lame excuse! Making me feel like I’m no use?
Why spend the time, making me worry if I’m not great
Money spent! Instead of rent!

I was not even trying to join, just hanging out to meet everyone as Toni is their drummer and she will be my drummer in my own band. I was just noodling around with a guitar between songs while they took a smoke brake during practicing and I started singing one of my own (Love si the Sun that most of you know is my signature song). Then Giselle is like "Hey we could use another guitar!" Ummm OK!!
They even want me to sing. Giselle says "Bring 4 of your originals for us to learn, that will give my voice a break during the shows."
OK IF YOU SAY SO!!! TWIST MY ARM!
This also means I gotta now learn 7 new songs from them! LOL when it rains it pours! AND ABOUT TIME! 30 YRS AND PPL WNAT ME TO PLAY AND SING AND JOIN. H___S YEA!

We all know that this is the best way to meet and accomplish something.
So case in point, last night i was on FB talking to a guy who fronts a great 3 piece band around here (The Sunshine Wall), and mentioned my desire to put a punk band together (at age almost 52) and did he know anyone in my area who might be interested in bass and drums? He gave me a name (happens to be a booking agent), then that person shot me a name right in my town. So I look up Toni. She and I have many same music loves and we talked a long time and i shared some of my material with her. She was very interested and we are easily saying YES this can be a good project. So, I am officially forming PATENT APPLIED FOR (Punk Azz F*%k).
Wish me luck, I have only been in two real basement bands that never went anywhere. Toni has been in 3 or for gigging bands, knows the club scene, and the way around it. So ....WIN WIN.
It may take a few months to get a set and everything down, but its now or never to make it happen!
CHEERS EVERYONE!

As with most my stuff, these are lyrics but until the riffs are sorted out it will go here.
HERE KITTY KITTY
January 11, 2020
Scott Sailer
Like a black cat prowling the night
Eyes glowing in the starlight
Strutting through the street
stiletto heels announce she can handle
Whatever she meets.
Hey Kitty Hi Kitty Ho Kitty
Come on and come come to me kitty
Tail in the air prancing down the street
She knows she’s the one you seek
She’s no stray cat,
she knows where it’s at.
She can stop you in your tracks
Like a baseball bat
Leather clad mistress
9 lives and 9 tails in her hand
Lips like Merlot, never in a pout
She’s the one that you want to find out
Hey Kitty Hi Kitty Ho Kitty
Come on and come come to me kitty
Tail in the air prancing down the street
She knows she’s the one you seek
Hey Kitty hi Kitty ho Kitty
Come on and come come to me kitty
Tail in the air prancing down the street
She knows she’s the one you seek

Topic: New Year Hopes and Goals (2 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
As most of you know my last year was less than fun or easy.
The last month of it was no exception. hard being off 10 days and not being able to escape with the boys.
Defiantly a very different Christmas and new years.
I hope to have a better year. I did a first, so that a good start. I went to my first Poetry Slam last Thursday night. It was a cozy place and the crowd (while pretty hipster and well odder than my normal crowd) was nice. I read 3 of my poems that all you have seen here. I have to be honest I was a little nervous sitting there waiting for my turn. but once on stage, and behind the mic, I was fine. I have spoken to many large groups. I thanked them for my warm welcome and took off.
I have to say that, honestly I think I was the only person who has had any public speaking training LOLOL not being mean, but ppl are afraid to project their voice. Anyone who has met me knows I have NO problem making myself heard
Some of the poems were good and some, well how were some comments form the non-chordians at Chordiestock "Well, that had a lot of heart" - but some of the stuff I heard was just plain bad. The feature poet, honestly did not speak well and not with conviction of what he was spitting, and tried to be funny ,,,, he was not.
I am glad I kept my opinion to my self and clapped and one thing he read was actually not bad. I also discovered his good looking sister was standing near my spot on the couch..... Self Preservation to say the least.
Best part of the evening was that the host came over and complimented me for my presence and ability to read and also use commas. So many pple were not using punctuation. Just reading deadpan or too quite.
So yes I will be going back and using my 3.5 to 4 minutes to read more. Proverbs will be on the list for sure.
I also may be (I cant believe I am starting to do this at 51/52), but I am "Hoping" to form a 3 or 4 pc punk band. Maybe "Patent Applied For" (PAF ~ Punk Azz Fun) Yes a play on the original PAF Pick-ups. Will become a reality.
So yes I will be writing more and trying to get my new drum program going better etc...
Love to my Chordie Family! Cheers!

I've been depressed most of the past three to five years or maybe even longer, and subject to panic attacks a lot longer than that. Everyone who doesn't suffer from it just gives you assignments. Do this. Do that. Change your schedule, your life, your diet, your habits. Great, just what someone with anxiety needs is more pressure and assignments.
I learned no one is going to help, but also that no one else is responsible, so it's up to me. I've spent about eight months now doing a rectal lobotomy to get my head out of my butt. My doctor wouldn't prescribe anything, so I researched herbal supplements that are double blind tested and found to as effective as prescription meds with fewer side effects. My doctor told me I should have come to her if I thought I needed medical supply when I reminded her that I twice requested support that she denied, and besides they're working so tough nuts. She can keep her drugs. I'm taking the herbs. That and prayer has helped me a lot. And I bought a bike. I love riding a bike. So prayer, herbs, bike. And with getting a little better at a time, a lot less booze. Doctors are worthless and counselors unavailable if you're not in crisis. Friends and family are nice but no help. Its up to the individual to help himself.
Edit to add: That was too harsh. Two kinds of friends are helpful. First, those who take you as you are. Topdown literally saved my life one year being nice just because he felt like it. A weekend away broke the very bad cycle I was in, and the near constant laughter at his antics and zest for life. The other kind are those who've been through it or are in it at the moment. Scripture teaches that iron sharpens iron. Metaphorically, I'd say that's right. Two depressed anxious guys with a stocked bar, a sailboat, and a big bay can do a lot of "therapy" in an afternoon. Beamer helped me a bunch, checking in and whatnot in the middle of his pain. Though we were 3,000 miles apart, I felt close. So friends are helpful. It's still up to the individual to deal with what's in his life, but friends that either understand or just take you as is make a difference.
I LOVE YOU BROTHER! GLAD I WAS ABLOE TO HELP AS YOU AND OTHERS HERE HAVE HELPED ME THIS PAST YEAR.

I have noticed the number of posts on here have dropped significantly. I guess everyone is busy, has other more important stuff going on, or for some reason is unable to post anymore. Whatever the case........ I miss the videos by Russell and the great songs by Mojo, the unbelievably cool insights of Strummerboy Bill, all the great songs and posts of our New Zealand Family - the golden voice of Jan, and the greatest stories and historical insights of Peatle ), JJJ's interesting stories, Beamer's open heart songs and Metalized everything ,Zurf's wildlife adventures and musical journey's, Badeye's always good stuff, Roger G's terrific perspectives, UJB and BGD, Easybeat and Dirty Ed, NEO, CTECH, Doug, Jets60 and of course Mekidsmom (Amy). My apologies if (and I know I must have) I have left someone out !
Happy Holiday season to everyone and may your GREY SATURDAY's turn sunny !
Jim
"Beamer's open heart songs and Metalized everything" YOU my friend are definitely welcome. The reason for my absence is also due to im trying to get some recording done. I ran into a glitch after Jerome cleaned out my laptop and put reaper and ASIO in. IT JUST WONT HANDLE IT! So I am waiting on a new computer to get here. also have had some other issues. I still need to post my incredible LA GUNS VIP night. For the non FB crowd. I also have some fun realizations I dont think I have posted.
We also have had a death in the Chordiestock family. He was not a part of our forum but a big part of Jeffs annual get together. BEE RAD (Brad) died in his sleep this past
Saturday night. Many of us core members have been expressing our love and sympathy on facebook.

ask everyone to hashtag. Hashtag key words in your song like #sad #supermarket #sexgod hashtag the towns you play in. use it use it #useit

Hey Scott - I like the words, but I'd sure like to hear how it goes. With the 1 2 3 & 4 @ 164 bpm is sounds (at least at my feeble efforts) kind of up tempo punk, but knowing you I bet it's a bit more metal.
Sorry, I just saw this, its straight-up RAMONES style punk

Re: PROVERB (THE SONG) (9 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I think these are the best lyrics I've seen in your songs Scott.
I have a couple questions:
The chorus uses an ABCB rhyme scheme each time. The Bridge and three of the verses use an AABB rhyme scheme. The third verse uses an ABCC scheme. Was this planned? If the first line was split into two lines and the phrase "The choice is yours tonight" with this one ere removed it would follow the AABB structure of the other verses, but I've got a feeling the change was intentional. As we write in entirely different genres, I'm curious why you chose to make a change in that verse. Perhaps if I heard it played it would become clearer to me.
Also, the chorus uses a Bm,G/D,A/Bm,G/D,A,G pattern each time but the verses all use different chord configurations. Is this common in the style of music you play?Anyway, keep up the good work and keep 'em coming.

OMG I FEEL LIKE A ROCK STAR!!!! KEN gave me a compliment
And that's only half in jest. Thank You all. I have been writing my rear end off since I was i think 12. and now at 51 almost 52 i feel like im getting a little close to getting it right.
Ken, the only answer I have as to my patterns of rhyme is ...... I don't know any of the "prescribed" patterns. i just fly by the hip, and make it fit! lolol. With this one I was just making lines fit with the main quote.
I was out of song ideas. but took inspiration From my inspiration of using the statue of liberty quotes, I just went with this.
I have to send my thanks to my advisors though!!! Thanks Graham, Derek and my guitar zoom friend Randy Nii .
With their help i was able to lose dead weight and.......... write a better song.
OH and as far as song structure, I thank Stone Sour as they are the ones who provided it to the world.
(Ken that's where I got the chord structuring for the chords. I will send ya the link)
Thanks everyone this made my night!!!
