Ok, with thanks to Roger for encoding the file I've now loaded my new song onto my Myspace page. The link is below, please just remember to go to "Balance" which is the new one.

For the really brave I've also stuck a (thankfully v dark) version on Youtube. The link for that is:

Thoughts, feedback etc all welcome.

P.S. I'm not really so miserable. Just seems that way from my songs!

Been a wee while since I posted a song on here so thought it was about time I contributed.

The trick with this one is the hammer-ons and offs. Adds a bit more depth and feel to the song, in my opinion.

Would love to know what you guys think of it. Will stick it on my Myspace page shortly if anyone's interested.

Cheers.

Love the line "My dog is dead but he's still my best friend" something very cool and touching about that.

Capo the 3rd fret and give it a bash with Am, C, F & G. All the way through. I'll let you figure out the rest tongue

I use coated strings and absolutely love them. Wee bit more expensive but last longer in my opinion. I also find the ones I use a little less harsh on the old fingertips.

I would suggest trying the Elixir range of strings.....can't remember exactly what gauge I use but well worth a shot.

No worries Al. Brilliant song to play. A few nice wee hammer-ons and a lovely little chord sequence. Plus, song by a good Paisley Buddie so it can't be bad.

Not an all time favourite song, that would take far too long to think of, but I cannot stop playing Rewind by Paolo Nutini just now. Only learned how to play it the other week and absolutely HAVE to play it at least once or twice a day. B-E-A-utiful song!

Sticking to my usual theme....loss, heartache etc etc etc yadda yadda yadda. Another  cheery day in the Wiser household tongue

All the verses are played the same way, I just couldn't be bothered writing it all out each time. Also, a couple of the chords are variations of the ones shown below. Happy to edit or explain if someone wants to know or can advise me how to edit the post to show the right chord shapes.

Would be keen to know what you guys think of this though so comments feedback etc all much appreciated.

In fact, looking at the diagrams, with the exception of the D chord, if you keep the two thinnest strings fretted on the 3rd fret throughout the song you'll be bang on with the chord formations as they're shown. smile

Hahaha, you're familiar with my tale of shame then!

I'm into most sorts of music really. As I mentioned, at the minute I'm into playing anything that can be done accoustically. That includes everything from Oasis, Pink Floyd, U2, The Band, The Eagles yadda yadda yadda....anything goes really.

What about you? What fluffs your meringue? tongue

I'll keep this short, but suffice to say that last year I drunkenly (isn't it always?) managed to lock myself out of my flat in nothing more than a pair of boxer shorts....my masterplan to get back in then resulted in me being outside of my building when the front door also slammed, leaving me to spend a rather chilly Saturday night on the streets of Paisley frantically trying (and failing) to wake my neighbours to get them to let me in.

I get cold even thinking about it!!

I think I've mentioned this dude before but I cannot stress how much I think you guys need to check out his music. Since i last put anything up about him I believe he's signed a publishing deal and is working on his album at the minute.

I promise I'm not his agent, brother etc etc etc. I'm just a keen fan and I think his songs are brilliant (and ok, he's from my home town of Paisley, Scotland, but that's where my bias ends).

I've had the pleasure of seeing him play live a number of times now and each time the gig has had some serious "wow" factor. He's getting quite a following now and I have no doubt that he's going to do some good things.

If any of you Scots out there get the chance to go see him play I suggest you do so. Similarly any of you Londoners, he gigs fairly regularly down there too. For all you penny pinchers (you know who you are) this could be your last chance to see him for free.

His name's Alan McKim and you can choose from his own new website which is:

www.alanmckim.com

or his myspace which is:  www.myspace.com/alansmusic

Let me know what you think if you check it out.

Cheers!

G'day all,

Having just hit the dreaded 3-0 I fear I may be lurching head long into a mid life crisis but whatever it is I'm willing to embrace it and pursue my aim to get a band or "old farts club" together to help each other improve as players and also to do a gig or two.....just to see what happens.

Would be good to meet other guys and gals in a similar position and who fancy maybe getting together to play and possibly write together and see what comes of it.

I've been playing for almost 2 years now and I'm ok at the basics and can knock out a few songs. Would have to confess that my vocals are better than my playing so I wouldn't be too precious about being the lead guitarist. If there's someone out there who fancies that role instead then great.

I generally prefer accoustic music at the minute (as it's what I've been playing for 2 years) but I'm open to most things.

If anyone has any interest in it then give me a shout.

Cheers,
Mark

P.S. If anyone wants to check out what they'd be getting themselves in for you can see a bit of me in action at the following link....don't say you weren't warned tongue

Hey Emma, looks a good song thus far.

It's up to you what you do and don't post so you should only put up what you're comfortable with. Personally speaking, I had a couple of songs which were very personal to me but decided to stick them up here just for the sheer hell of it. Afterwards I was really nervous but everyone on here is really cool and there was no ribbing about it all. Everyone was v positive. It's a good place to try something out.

Anyway, that's my ten pennies. Keep up the good work whether it's for public consumption or not.

This is a change from my usual type of song (loss, woe, despair etc etc etc). Was feeling uncharacteristically chipper today so thought I'd write a silly little song that was slightly more upbeat. This is the result. Not going to win an Ivor Novello I grant you but passed an afternoon waiting for the F1 to start big_smile

I have been on his site every day for the last couple of weeks, he is a great teacher, have learnt loads off him, and gives it all for free, brilliant, and by the way he taught Katie Melua all she knows.

Couldn't agree more Boxer. This guy's excellent and if I lived in London I'd definitely fork out the ££'s to get some proper lessons from him. His web lessons are brilliant and free though....you should definitely check them out.

Oasis music is always good to start with. They tend to be great songs but also quite simple to play. Great for practice.

Good luck!
