There MUST BE SOMEONE out there who knows that song, it is maybe performed by someone else. But I am convinced that it is originally a beach boys song.
so pleaaaase help me, when I was younger so much younger than today I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, and the girls too, but I just need tears in the morning

Re: Key? (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
cytania, my love, there is a very good program, but it is no freeware, and the name is BAND IN A BOX. As they tell?! you can put any CD in your PC, you let the program do his work, and you should be able to find your song ripped in chords.
I had the same problem concerning a few songs (I am lucky to play along with a song very quick), but there are always songs, especially if written in difficult chords, this is also a fact why chordie is so great, because you can add, or better change chords, sometimes you'll find a song written entirely in chords like A#7, Db, while it is of course easier if written in more simple chords.
Even the fact that I am able to play at least 50 chords, don't mean that I will not try to make the song easier to play. For me the most important things, talking about guitar are:
- KNOW THE MELODY
- TRY TO PLAY FIRST THE SONG IF WRITTEN IN DIFFICULT CHORDS, IN MORE SIMPLE CHORDS, BY TRANSPOSING THEM, AND EVEN SKIP VERY SHORT CHORDS.
- ONCE YOU CAN PLAY THE SONG, THE DIFFICULT CHORDS WILL COME AUTOMATICLY.
That is how I try to work on a song, learn the song, and even perform the song later

DOES anyone know the chords, of the FOR ME VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG, performed by the Beach Boys, if possible with lyrics.
Name of the song, I have really personal memories on this one: TEARS IN THE MORNING.
I do not find the song chords, it is probably written with # or b chords, if it is not asked too much, I can handle those chords, but my voice goes better using major chords.
I think it is the first song request for me.

DO you write about me? What I had is almost exactly the same. One vertebra the 4th lumbar, exploded in 4 pieces, and 1 of the pieces, is pushing against my spinal chord. I was even paralysed for a while, and nobody understands why the f**, it didn't enter deeper. Probably, this is the only explication I can imagine is that, around every organ you have a thin layer, and that the anatomy of my spinal chord is a little bit thicker. A crash like I had, 999/1000 people, driving that speed, are dead, and the other survivors are doomed to spend their lives in a wheel chair. That problem, is sometimes a burden to live with, not only WHY WASN'T I DEAD right on the spot, having already an age (°1955) and watching other people die. WHY THEM, WHY DO I still live. I tried to work again, still having a kind of "Antichrist" attitude, working as hell, very serious, with the intention to work for sure to 2010 (55 y) but I couldn't continue, I was destroying the rest of my body. I had about 30 fractures too in my left foot, amputation was an option that a lot of hospitals would have considered, but thanks to my profession, and staying in the best hospital here, we could discuss about that. If it didn't work out, they could do this when they wanted
I think that You and Me alone can understand that problem, I can still walk, but I always use a support. I can't sit with bended knees, because I can't stand up. The only very lucky thing was that I am insured too high. BUT WHAT IS THE VALUE of money in a situation like this? Even winning the big jackpot of Euromillions will never change 1 thing, except maybe that you can look easier for help. Probably in your case: airplanes: ok they have a wheel chair at every stop, problem is when travelling, I can't lift wheights, playing guitar: a Gibson, I can play standing for not more than 10'
We know what it means, a weird thing to meet someone here, who has almost exactly the same problem. Are there coincidences in life?? but really very nice to meet you. If you like to talk or mail about it, DO.

Re: Does nobody know what a chord is? (46 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
We all now what music is, we all play, some people play really fantastic, others are beginners.
You can be a great value for us, because there are SONGS who can be written in, what I call MUSIC LANGUAGE. I know that there are a lot of SONG BOOKS, like if you buy the book with all the songs of the Beatles. You can pick out a song in that book, sitting behind a piano, and play, you will have everything you want music written like it should be. I can only tell you, that if you go "classic", talking about Mozart, Beethoven, that in THAT case there are no chords and tabs. But here on Chordie, we are just, one person more than another, trying ON THIS FORUM, to pass our knowledge !? discussing, posting topics, to help to find decent answers, decent facts and of course THE GUITAR is central.

Topic: TOPIC OF CURIOSITY (27 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
It haunts me since I am on chordie. We all play guitar, from bad to super. I don't like bad, better from absolute beginners to very good guitarists.
There is one think that can be interesting: background, studies, work: they play a prominent part in your skills to play guitar. To be more specific: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION AND/OR JOB.
I hope to have a lot of answers, and HONEST answers.
I start :
- I studied for 7 years (in BELGIUM, those studies take 7 years) to become a Medical Doctor, a generalist to be specific. Because my father died in May 1974, and I graduated in 1980, I wanted, and at the same time I didn't want to follow his footsteps. You can not imagine how many people told my mother, ALONE and having 5 kids ( I am the eldest) they would come back the day I started. At that point, my live was never the same concerning trusting people, if 5% came to me, it was a lot. On the other side, I have got a huge practise, and I am proud that they came to me for what I was.
I also had a "non medical" attitude, I was more interest in guitars, girls and going out. But having time to play guitar: no. I started again, back in 1996, when I was hospitalised: complete burn out. I was working day and night, but my private life was a mess. I even wrote a few songs, all in minor; Am, Fm: the melancholic chords.
On 02/09/2000 (2 September) I had a car crash, due to aquaplaning, driving 90km / hour, and hitting a tree, driving that speed. I know I stepped out of my car, but my situation was very critic, had twice a cardiac arrest due to a shock, but I was reanimated twice. Since that moment, my live changed for good. Starting again on the 2th of July 2001, against advise, having again a big practise, I had to stop, I was a walking Painkiller, couldn't walk, and so, that's me.
I told a lot about me, but in fact I just wanted to know, what you do for living. I think if a lot of CHORDIANS answer this topic, we will see really a great variety of jobs.

Re: Songs not to play in a guitar shop (16 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hi acme, most of people in a music store, here in my Country, they play two different styles.
- The one I hate: did you here already 5-6 people, playing for hours, nothing than solo's, or it looks like that. I think it should be a nice topic, making a new reality show, you can spot talent, and then you follow that kid with camera and sound engineers, everywhere, in his rehearsal place, his first gig on his nephew's communion, or bar mitzwah.
- The others (not with Nicole Kidman), try to play songs like the house of the rising sun, stairway to heaven and more and more the eagles, hotel California. I have a smile on my face when they play these songs, because I, and many others, were so proud to be able to play these songs. I do think that if you hang around in a store, you will see sometimes 15 year old kids who play quit well. DOES SOMEBODY HAS AN EXPLICATION HERE, I think they followed music on school.
You also see, but less, older man, BUT they are trying out guitars, like a Gibson 335, a George Benson, and they play really good, mainly JAZZ and some blues, I always observe and I admit they know exactly what they want.

I raelly understand your OR our problem. I think that you are a lucky person to have this skill and opportunity, BUT, I am a medical Doctor, didn't have time to LEARN to read music, and I don't expect that everybody can give himself an exact diagnosis and treatment. Maybe you are on a site that is not representative for your skills. I really want to study music, that's for sure, and I also know that a lot of so called famous group have at least a member capable of reading notes.
There must be probably other sites, or maybe you can write the notes as they should be read.
Try to contact the administrator and maybe, there is a solution. But if you are really interessed in putting notes in stead of tabs, try to use a song here and try to work it out in notes, because I don't know one clue about this, but I can tell you only that I play quit good the guitar.

I was convinced that I wrote this too. The fact he died young and in strange circumstances. See Cobain. You know, I have a big smile now, that I ask myself if there is not a kind of "conspiracy" theory, because "dead people rock, and sell up to 3 times as much when they are dead.
It happened with Elvis, it happened with Morisson (JIM). It is strange to see how all, I mean a lot of people run to the record store to buy all their records, and sad to see how they are squeezed until the last drop for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Re: FACTS 6 (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
nice, here we go again, new artists, but I am sure there are a lot of artists against the war.
So, I don't know about the Doors, I just know that the song the end was used in Apocalypse Now.
What about the so called folk/protest singers like Dylan.
Probably you will find more artists, and certainly WOODSTOCK 69 performers, because the antiwar protest was at that moment very popular and common. This brings me again to the war subject: how can people fall so low and cruel. There are tests, a victim (an actor) questioned by others (Non actors) who had to give electroshocks (in fact also fake, but a good actor know how to react) and the tortures, from simple men going to well educated men, lawyers, Medical Doctors, even Bishops, priests, millionaires, more than 75% continued the (so called torture, they didn't know it was fake)interrogation, going higher and higher up to almost deadly shocks. THIS SHOCKS ME & I HOPE YOU ALL.
Also I will never talk about the stuff going on now. If I don't now the subject, I don't speak about it.
Catholic Priests talking about marriage and sex, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me.
But keep on answering, give YOUR opinion, it doesn't look like a topic about music, BUT IT IS, more it is because of the music that a lot of people start to think.

ACMECORP, you are completely right, concerning the indeed very smart remarks. Because, this means that you are very busy with music too. But, like you wrote, you missed something, because I put a little star next to the names of guitar players, being left handed, but playing a right handed guitar, and at least some of them even played right handed. So probably I, and you too, will need some fans of Mark Knopfler, who have a dvd to see how they holsd there guitar.
I am already entering an age, old enough to be a fossile, and I knew, there was a time, when you were a lefty, they almost used handcuffs to teach you working, writing with your right hand, I am not joking, because a few paople told "them" that writing with your left hand was the devil's work.
That's why I put that little star. Sadly enough, I didn't have the time to check if I had a DVD, but I think I must have the Knopfler/Emilou Harris one.
Thanks
Hope you enjoy this stuff, this site, because it is getting bigger and bigger, and the point is NOT am I right, but to put topics, answering other topics, and starting discussions

Well thanks for the info, I found some sites, and I tried the pentatonic scale, a few examples, and I was surprised that I didn't have 1 single problem to follow the tab's. I play about 30 years, so I do have some experience, it always looked impossible to me, so I tried it maybe once. But due to an accident, I have so much time, it was maybe 5 years ago I have tried to play it, and now I can conclude that it is not that difficult, I promess you to start easy, with tab ( I hated tabs) and as far as I can see, it is a matter of practising. It will take 20' a day, and doing this every day, I will reach my goal.
THANKS

Here some other songs, and the conflicts that inspired them.
- Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA (Vietnam)
- Dire Straits Brothers in Arms (All Wars)
- OMD* Enola Gay ( World War II - Hiroshima)
- Buffalo Springfield For What it's Worth ( Vietnam)
- John Lennon Give Peace a Chance (Vietnam)

- Black Sabbath War Pigs (Vietnam)
- Edwin Starr War! (all wars)
- Human League The Lebanon (Troubles and Conflicts in The Middle East)
- Donovan The Universal Soldier (All Wars)
The * OMD= Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
I love, like I always do, and I count on you, dear Chordians, to make this a big list.
Does anybody love wars? I can not imagine wars and certainly not wars concerning RELIGION, CONVICTION, or CIVIL wars. The wars, they are all horrible, but I think the most cruel wars are CIVIL wars brother against brother, father against sons, AND FOR WHAT REASON.
see Christians & Muslims: these religions are so close to each other, both have GOD or ALLAH.
Christians have JESUS, MUSLIMS have MOHAMED, but there is Jesus considered as one of the great prophet's. Even better, shiits against soenits. Sorry, I couldn't help it to write this, because I get crazy thinking about the starting of a war.
The bigger the list, the better you will feel.

Topic: What made Jimi Hendrix so great (15 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I like to know the classic chordian opinion.
What made Jimi Hendrix so tremendous, out of proportion, a miraculous good as guitar player.
- his music style? a lot players played also out of league. I just know that in his US, New York period, that his talent was UNDERESTIMATED, btw it is kind of a funny fact that he was born in Seattle, for me a non USA resident, it is like a little bell sounding in my head, because who else was from Seattle, it all started there early nineties for a few "out of league groups (see Nirvana). I am convinced that, knowing this, Jimi would have fit in this kind of music. Maybe he was born to early or was he the biggest influence for GRUNGE.
- I better continue, there are quit a lot of phenomenal guitar players like SRV, I think if both still lived that this would be an unbelievable concert: ON THE GUITARS JIMI & SRV.
But even knowing that a lot of famous guitar players, like Clapton, Jan Akkerman (is from the netherlands, and had a few international top 10 hits, with his group FOCUS) can play almost exact, way songs like VOODOO CHILE (Slight Return). Success started in England, with the EXPERIENCE BAND, is this name on purpose? We all see the burning fender's, but in fact he did this only 3 times.
So what made him an "out of league artist". was it a combination of being an exceptioal talented guitar player, or his performance, acting like a magician, or hypnotising, by playing with his teeth, by holding his guitar high in the air, or behind his back, DON'T SHOOT ME NOW" to cover up, he was very shy, that he wasn't that great as all the Hendrix lovers are thinking?
He couldn't find a better name for him and the band, so is it the way he used (we don't have this problem, because of all our floor pedals, like line 6, behringer..) together with his technician EDDIE KRAMER, always busy to find unique sounds, by connecting amps, wah wah, distortion?
Fact is that he became a kind of God after he died, he was not really a living legend. Am I right or wrong? I just wrote about him, NOT KNOWING WHY THERE IS STILL TODAY A HYPE. The only facts I know are.
- he was a very very good player, performing like nobody did (maybe only Pete Townsend))
- he had very long fingers
- he did a lot of experiments in his studio & on stage.
But I have the impression that there is a missing link, wich made the difference with other fabulous guitar gods.
Please help me here chordians

Topic: help devices & processors (2 replies, posted in Electric)
As you have noticed, there is a "device" forest growing.
This makes it really difficult to choose now. I had the the luck to have a very friend working as a custom agent, nice period, I had everything for 40%, like my first real electric guitar: Black Gibson Les Paul Studio, but he never staid in tune: 2 songs, tune again. ARE THERE FELLOW CHORDIANS having the same problem, and how to fix it? I have changed it for a PRS custom 24, and this is still my magic guitar, playing on the North Pole or in a Rain Forest: almost always in tune.
But the topic was
The processors I have are
- a 10 year old ZOOM 8080, but for being that old it is still a great pedal & effect processor, still, compared to new material in the running
- I own a boss VF-1, a thiny little red box, still very good.
- Since 1 year I own also the line 6 POD xt LIVE, very good, but there is 1 problem, it contains a lot of different amps, and I have a Fender Cybertwin 120 W, who receives his signal analog (tubes) digital, and the output is digital, I think. A tremendous number of special effects in comination with almost all the amps they produced, and when I play here with someone who has a fender bassman, you don't hear the difference. You push the knob to find an amp, they are preselected and all the other knobs are turning, and you can still change the sound, fatter, more distortion, and I can continue...
So the Line 6 POD xt live, has a lot of functions that you find on the cyber. (so I use it on Marshall)
In fact I am not so happy, I decided to quick, it is indeed a super processor, but I am missing something.
I wanted to know if there are processors who do exactly what you searched, like an electric guitar, plugged in, on an acoustic preset 6 or 12 string guitar, BUT NEVER or impossible to have really the sound I want. 6/12 string effect, you don't have the same sound as you want to have.
I own a variax (electric type) and on that guitar, your 6-12 string effect is a lot better.
What are the suggestions, solutions, IS THERE A PROCESSOR who plays really the sound you want? Like today I got publicity for a "vocalist live 2 by digitech. On my PC, it sounds like a miracle, you sing, after plugging in your guitar, in a certain key, like A, and this device takes C, and you are, and it sounded perfect here, singing with yourself in harmony.
Do you know if there are devices, to create effects sounding like the real thing, or at least closre to the real thing

Topic: requierments to be, or to see a good guitar player (2 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
- talent, and a lot of musicians (talent is needed in every activity, like base ball american football, in fact a long long list. If you have talent, you use it, but also denie it, or you are not aware that you have a certain talent.
- know guitar chords, starting with the "classic seven" A B C D E F G, and if you can play this, and you like a kind of melancholy in your song, use the minors Am Bm Cm, most used are
Am Em Dm, and while you are busy to practise anyway, try more bluesy chords like
A7 B7 E7 C7 D7 G7 F7, is more bluesy.
I can play quit good, I have tons of songs, books and instruments, but I just played a while in a group end seventies. Since a few years I have a very good friend, plays and guitar and drum, he learned me a lot about keeping my rhythm, difficult to keep a rhythm when playing alone. I agree that a metronome would help me, but I have a small device having it all
- skills: this is the only thing I wanted yet to mention YOU CAN ONLY IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS, BY PRACTISING A LOT. I suggest start with 1 song, and don' change before you can play it like a professional.
So what do when you start playing guitar
How do you solve the problems if you play alone, but if they ask you to play in a band: DO IT, it is amazing how fast and how much you learn, like tips & tricks.
And me, I am desperately looking for information about blues, pentatonic, x bar blues.3.
So PLEASE HELP me how I can start to play those scales. I play a lot of blues, but scales? just from reading books.

Just listen to the WITHOUT YOU version by HARRY NILSSON, and compare it with the WHITNEY HOUSTON version.
The first is going straight to the heart, and the second, the Houston version, sounds really sterile, like everybody who worked at this version, were wearing sterile gloves. THAT version don't give me GOOSEBUMPS and will probably never do

Roger, against thanks for this info. There has been indeed a big evolution, and I found a link on the net. www.worldmusiccentral.org
I also know that the guitar, as we know it today had a lot of changes during even centuries.
The guitar usually has six strings, but four, seven, eight, ten, and twelve string guitars also exist. Guitars, I think, and here I mention modern versions, where made already 300 years ago in Europe, but in the USA, people like Martin, originally from Germany, made together with other luthiers to the guitar, more acoustic, we see andplay today.
I own a lot of books, concerning guitars, but I prefer to post it, because of the evolution and perfection, even going up to the first electric, or electro-acoustic guitar, and who had a tremendous impact on the music now.

Topic: what contract can you get starting as group (0 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I am very curious to know about contracts, in the record business.
What are "the traps", sometimes "booby-traps",
How to protect you against scamming in the music business
What about the money you should get, more specific, you start a band with 4 fellow musicians, so 5 in total, 2 people claim and are responsable for writing most of the songs & lyrics to write songs, and they do. I suppose those guys, are paid more, because of their composing skills. This brings me to the question if there are chordians who had an experience with this topic, and what cut of the cake do they get. No manager money, just a group thing. I know that how bigger the name and fame the more the contract can be adapted, but I am not talking about the Stones, just about a regular group of musicians, who signed a contract, including booby-traps.
Example the drummer writes the lyrics, the singer the melody, and what will be their share compared to the share of the 3 other musicians.
I post this topic to help a few members here, who are proud to have "gigs", and who take this very serious, hoping to be famous (maybe to high) but at least getting popular.

Re: Easy Rock and Roll Songs-Unplugged/Acoustics (8 replies, posted in Acoustic)
First: what kind of music do you like and how old are you and the kind of music (a lot isn't it)
Second: for me very important, what songs do you KNOW, meaning THE MELODY, like they wrote already like The HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN, just because it is very difficult to play a song, even if you really know the song, BUT YOU CAN'T FIND THE TUNE SOMEWHERE INSIDE YOUR HEAD. If you know popular tunes, acoustic or electric, like a few John Denver songs, look them up on this site and there you go. Don't panic, the more you play, the more you learn.
Third: you can always try to play along with an existing album of songs you like, it is a little bit more difficult, but for me it works fine, and to be honest, it is like a challenge: i want to find the matching chords for that song.
Last: you can, and you probably will use the transposing function, if there are to many songs in # or b, add a semitone, or more.
Good Luck
