Yeah, I agree, those of us of Scotts-Irish descent are fabulous people.
But back to the nation bashing.... What is up with cricket? Why don't you folks play a proper sport like baseball?

your unwillingness to see good is not my issue stopping the fighting is good enough in my book and it just goes to show thst nothing our country does is never ever enough or right to a democrat YOU show the very eppitomy of what a deocrat is
We recognize that real peace is not accorded to anyone who will not recognize another's right to exist. That was not a republican accomplishment. Jimmy Carter did that.
oh and ike was a republican and a war hero. and another thing republicans did was:
1.the defense of kawait in the the first gulf war.
I'm a veteran of that war. It was well executed, and well planned. It was also a war that was fought with the full support of the global community through the United Nations. That is a body that the GOP's leadership has called "quaint" and "obsolete."
Ironic, considering...
2.the overthrow of sadam hussein who was every bit of a tyrant
I think we've seen the results of this bit of madness. Iraq is an unmitigated disaster. But you're right, it is completely a GOP misdadventure. The blood of every American killed there is right on the hands of the GOP.
Hey, who said this?
"Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it -- eastern Iraq -- the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey.
It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq."
Can you tell me that, kid? I'll give you a hint. He sits in the Whitehouse right now.
Teenagers thinking they're different and misunderstood is understood to be common amongst all teenagers.
His problem wasn't that he was different. His problem was that he was the same.
E A B is a common I IV V progression, which enforces my guess as an A chord, I think. You should get a similar flavor from the mystery chord as you do with the B7, as they both contain the flattened major 7 of each.
F A E F B E
Thats a mess!
The half step between the E and the F makes me think that this is not an E chord. That would be a flat 2, which is gonna sound odd.
A B E is an Asus2, though. F would be the dominant 7th for an A7 chord. So I'm calling it some form of A.
So A7sus2?
OK heres the issue you dont know what your talking about at all your being ridiculus look it up instead of jumping to conclusions and history is my best subject. So here yah go Henry Kissinger under Richard Nxon (admittadley not a very smart guy) settled peace accords not the Camp david ones. those were a different time and a different conflict. how can you write of the ending of vietnam so what we started it and we got our selves out and sved counltess more lives. and comunism at least the fall of the ussr was a collective effort communism is a bad system its idealist it would fall eventually but us and the rest of world stood up to them and matched them move to move bomb to bomb war to war and who is still standing?
If history is your best subject, you must be one lousy student.
Kissinger didn't negotiate anything at all between Syria and Israel except a cease fire in the Yom Kippur war. There were no formal recognition between the combative states. All they did was stop shooting at each other.
Formal recognition where Egypt actually acknowledged Israel's right to exist didn't come until five years later under Carter. Carter's policy was pretty much a multilateral approach, and was an abandonment of the policy set by his predecessor's, and Kissinger's.
Viet Nam could have been over during Nixon's first term, as he promised. Instead, he broadened it into Cambodia, increased the number of troops there, and cost thousands of lives. And just in case you're interested, the first US troops there were sent in by Ike Eisenhower. You might have heard of him.
Like I said, I'm still waiting for you to tell me *anything* "conservative" that the GOP has done in the last 35 years.
Just one thing would do.
GOP = Get Old People
Not completely instrumental, but close enough, and in no particular order
Choral from Beethoven's 9th.
Beethoven's 6th
1st Movement ("Mars") from Gustav Holst's "Planets Suite"
Otto Rhespighi's "Rome Trillogy"
Franz Hayden's Trumpet Concerto in E Flat
GOP presidents have dogs so they can kick them. Duh!
Social Security was established under Franklin Roosevelt, and was opposed by the GOP at every turn. We now see the GOP trying diligently to bankrupt the government so that future SS payments can not be made.
Like I said, the GOP wants old people to starve in the streets.
Democrats would have liked to get troops out of the communist countrys. in doing this, there would be nothing stoping comunists from continuing what they were doing. Let me give you some ideas of what they did. For one, they cut off the arms of people if they had a mark of a cirtain vaccination.
danspr
Republican would like to kick puppies and let old people starve in the streets.
Here's a clue. Those communist regimes are still there.
Poor education in history is pretty annoying, too.
school starts the 20th and i cant weight and you want some things the grand old party did in the past 35 years ago and on to today
1.ended viet nam
After escalating Viet Nam.
2.settled peace accords between egypt syria and israel (henry kissinger under nixon)
The Camp David peace accords were negotiated by President Jimmy Carter and signed by Menachem Begin and Anwar Sedat in 1978. I remember that happening. Is it your contention that Jimmy Carter is a "conservative?"
3.stood against communists and won (admitadley so did the democrats)
The fall of the Soviet Union, which Regan worshipers are all to ready to claim full credit, began with a policy of containment established by George Marshall and Harry Truman following WWII. It was the same policy followed by every US President through Regan. Truman not only started the fall of the Soviet State, he predicted it.
i believe thats three
I believe thats none.
Perhaps you might chime in on the conservative policies of massive debt, unilateral foreign intervention, domestic warrant less spying, abuse of national security data, and other wonders of the modern GOP.
Fact is, if you're a genuine conservative, you'd be a Democrat.
"The Joker." Steve Miller
A resonator is on my list of guitars to own. I have a friend with one, and it's a blast to play. I love that twangy sound.
Keep us up to date on the bottleneck stuff. I'd love to learn that, too.
I know a lot of people here in the UK dont think much of americans, a couple of reasons apart from their own ignorance.
Well hey now!
1. the american governement. ( but then probably the majority dont like them either)
Yeah. I'm really sorry about that. Honestly. I did what I could, but it weren't enough. I don't believe I am alone in my remorse. http://www.sorryeverybody.com/ So while ultimately we as citizens are responsible for this fiasco, please know that some of us are less responsible than others.
But look at the bright side. You get to sit outside this fiasco and watch me have to live in it!
But again, I do apologize for American foreign affairs over the last couple of decades. The last decade in particular.
2. lots think americans think they are the best in the world, and they do brag about it a lot, especially when they are over here. Quote from the last american I spoke to " Of course we are better than the rest of the world, we are making the world better ,we lead the way and you all follow and youlove it" I know this would not be he views of lots, but I have heard similar things like this from americans online as well as offline.
Well, I wouldn't phrase it like that, but I do think as a world citizen, we have quite a bit to offer, and our track record in some areas is unmatched. We did put a man on the moon and cure polio and stuff. Most of the world's PhDs are educated here. The world votes with their feet, and tries to come here for some reason. It's because the opportunities are better here.
3. they are too religious and use the word God too many times when it is not needed.
Again, I apologize for my Bible Belt living countrymen. You should know that this is a somewhat localized phenomenon, though, and is not reflective of the majority of the nation. Mostly in the South. It's more like a really vocal minority makes the rest of us look like nutters. But we're not, really.
4. Always here " have a nice day" they dont really mean it, I think they are trained to say it from an early age, why say it if you dont really mean it and the person on the receivig end knows they dont really mean it.
Now here I just think you're projecting a bit. You can't know whether someone means it or not. And even if they didn't mean it, I think the best thing you could take from it is that Americans are polite. We could just tell you to pack sand, but that would be rude!
And to everyone els, if I have typed anything there that you feel strongly about and think I am talking crap then ok, thats your opinion, and maybe I am, but I say it how I see it and sorry for that. Not meaning to offend and if I never drank this hlaf bottle of whisky I might not even have started this ,lmao.
Ken
I don't feel strongly about it. I look at it as an opportunity to talk about cultural attitudes, and share some experience and knowledge. I'm going to be asking you about cricket in a bit, and explaining to you why baseball is a vastly superior sport.
well i will take it to hart but you havent proved me wrong either i will learn more thats true but the fact that the constitution is a "living thing" is not false it is constantly being scrutinized and can be changed it is open to interpratation but can only be modified by those elected not by me or you. and yes words do mean things like "weaseling" like hate and dislike are two very different things and that is inarguable over 6 million of my people died in the 1930s-40s do to one mans hate. i dislike liberal views but many of my friends are liberals would i destroy them for there beleifs? no! so weaseling or not there is difference and i maybe uneducated but what you SEE and what you dont is for another time
Tell me then, there, Mr. Jr. GOP. Name one thing "conservative" that the GOP has done over the last 35 years.
Just one.
Then get back to school.
I find it very unfortunate that a 16 year old kid would not take the time to educate himself on important matters like civics before running off and proclaiming his distaste for "liberals," and opining loudly about what the founding documents of our nation mean. I find it especially distatestful that he would fall back to semantics (I never said "hate" I said "dislike!"). That's what I call "weaseling." Be a responsible person, and own what you do, and what you say. If what you say is proven to be wrong, words like "Gosh, I guess I was wrong" will go a long way to improving your stature. It shows strength of character.
I know you may not like it, but words mean things. The words in the Constitution mean things. They do not mean what you wish they meant, nor do they mean something other than what they say. They mean exactly what they say. The only words for which you get to make up a definition are the words that you make up yourself.
There is a huge body of study behind the Constitution, and the founder's intent, which you are obviously unfamiliar with. If you are interested in having your own opinions rather than just parroting what you've been told, you might try to educate yourself a bit with that. Education in civics is pretty important. Right now is the time in your life when you want to take advantage of it. Politics is not a team sport. It is the basis on which the future of our nation will be founded, and uneducated voters make for bad government.
Consider this a lesson, kid. It's better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it to everyone.
I can tell you're a republican. You have a habit of just making stuff up out of thin air.
"can you tell what i dislike, beside tuna, my boss, and liberals."
The reason this discussion is pointless is because you have a problem with truth, and admitting error. All proud republican traits.
You have yet to argue. That's the point. "Believing what you want to believe" doesn't make you right.
When I read things like "I hate liberals" it makes me wonder just what sort of character sits there and types that, and who it is he thinks they're talking about. Now I know.
One that is ignorant of the civics in their own country.
Hello Upyerkilt,
We have another "silly "day in south africa...it's called cleavage day. Strangely all the men absolutely adore it...unfortunetly not a public holiday.
In Jeromeland, every day is Clevage Day! Hallelujah!
Other things I hate. Run on sentences. Chalk that up to poor English education...
jerome.oneil wrote:[Tell me, if the 2nd is required to hunt, as you state, how is it that there are more guns per capita in, say, Canada than here?
firstly what does what we are talking about have to with a well regualted malitia we are talking about hunting and the second ammendment not the right of the states to have a well regulated malitia
There is no relationship between hunting and the second amendment. None. Zero. Nada.
and canada is far more restricting with guns than the united states and thats a fact look it up.
The number of gun control laws in Canada has no bearing on the number of guns per capita in Canada. The per capita gun ownership numbers in Canada are on par with the US. The difference is that in Canada, most of them are long guns used for hunting.
And the second ammendment has nothing to do with hunting and i never sid it did
"Why no hunting? and since im a hunter you must dislike me. Not trying to start a debate but thats why we have the second amendment right?"
"i did not mean in any way to impose that we as americans have the second ammendent in order to protect hunting but without it we would not be able to hunt. "
what i did say is that it is integral to hunting because without arms you can not hunt and that includes bows and guns
The 2nd has nothing to do with bows, unless you're invading France in the 12th century. It's about the state's ability to raise a militia, and that is all.
The wonderful hunting available in Canada is evidence enough that your premise is flawed.
I Just bought a Vox 30 watts with 2-12 inch speakers. It sounded great at the guitar shop. I am still not totally familiar with it. Any one out there have this amp and any tips on its use as far as settings
I don't own one, but my daughter's friend owns one of the VOX Valvetronics, and I've played through it some. Fantastic amp. Sounds great at low and high volumes, and the effects on the amp head are really rich, and sound good, too.
30W is pretty beefy. Is this just a practice amp?
Dang! James beat me to the breakdown.
I love these kinds of questions.
Im sorry but will have to agree to disagree its the states right inturpret the constitution
I just hate poor civics education!
Section 2. The judicial power shall extend to all cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution, the laws of the United States, and treaties made, or which shall be made, under their authority;
Constitutional issues are *always* decided by the federal courts.
as they will towards arms in general like certain weapos may not be shipped to newyork and illinois and hawii have strong regualtations agoinst fire arms also hunting is regulated by the state and hunting with spears is largely illegal at least out here and those sort of traps ie deadfalls and snares are to. your right traps arent regulated but other things are and thats a fact
And none of those things deal with a well regulated militia, and are therefore subject to state regulation.
Tell me, if the 2nd is required to hunt, as you state, how is it that there are more guns per capita in, say, Canada than here?
no i very clearly did not look at what i wote again i Said ARMS the second ammendment protects the right to keep and bear arms meaning weapons its free for interpratation that includes bows and arrows
Like I said: Poor civics education.
The 2nd is there for a very specific purpose. It is to ensure that the security of the state is protected via a well regulated militia. Bows and arrows have nothing to do with it. As do snares, traps, dead falls, spears, and any of the other thousands of ways humans have hunted since we evolved out of the muck.
We do not have arms because the 2nd says we can. We have arms because we are free. The 2nd is a prohibition on government, not a grant to the people.
Shame! So it's not technically, theoretically or practically...it's painfully!
Have a good one Jerome!
I think you've nailed it.
Wow! That looks like a really expensive solution to a non-problem.
