Re: Effects Pedals? (32 replies, posted in Electric)
So Amy, If you do the math, he can get at least 5 of the 15 dollar stomps from Danelectro, the delay cost more (24) Stay away from teh one called "Echo" the money on the delay is better spent.
basic 4 pedals for a starter kit. Compression, distortion (any flavor there is Overdrive, distortion, or heavy metal dano calls it FAB metal, or the fat cat series is the Black Coffee), delay, and chorus are my choices.
He can learn to twidle teh knobs and wont be overwhelmed with too much to mess with. Thoes four pedals kept me happy for 10 years till I made enough mondy to step up. (an my parents did not buy any of it which made it more valuable) But as I stated, I have bought my son the stuff also, He did have to buy his own first guitar and proove he really wanted to play.
Let us all kknow how it came out! smiles and cheers!
PS: found this deal also
Now this really rocks! read the description, Where was this when I was 16!?!
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet … e=googleps
the multi effects is a great deal for a stomp + digital and stereo. I would have loved my mom even more for something like this!
and this

sorry had to edit had the same link pasted twice. the first one is for the rock/metal pkg now.

I have to say teh SG guitars have a pretty roomy fret board. That is why I like them. I have a Epi G400. He should just go to a store and play around with some. I think He will enjoy the SG feel. not to mention its under 400 bucks.

Have you ever thought about a shred kneck?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessor … 5000010000
I have been thinking about one of these for a while. I spend a lot of down time at work while my machine is running a part, and during brakes.
I have also found that there are 3 or 4 other really good guitar sites on you tube. I have mentioned them b4 on the forum, I really like these guys. its mostly electric stuff but it can all be done acousticly.

That really is the pits man! Is there any chance of you teaching? It sounds like you have the time put in to get certified and be a good teacher.
I hope you feel better (as possible) soon. If after all the other stuff, and you still hurt, There is the "UNOFFICIAL" statement from my father-in-laws doctor (he has scoliosis very bad) "As a doctor I cant percribe cannibas, but if that is what gets you though the day, Im not going to tell you to stop"
Are you in a state that allows that? Maybe moving would be a good idea? ;-) (attempt at humor LOLOLOLOL)

Well that is the same thing I was saying a few post ago. I mean once you dial in a custom sound, you save it to your bank. tehn I can just use my toe to turn on whatever I want. What Beheringer do you have? I have a GMX 1x12 and a Bugera V5R. Or are you running a Vamp?

Never had a guitar that was collectable except to me. Well maybe if I had kept the Tele I once had,,, but I traded it for a acoustic Kamen. Just didnt like the way the Tele felt on my right hand. I had bought it cause I was a Townsend fan. I have had my Kamen for 19yrs, I think I did good.

HOOO RAY!!!!!
I wonder did they have home owners ins? I find it amazing that people still dont cover their houses. The wild fires here in Tx took out so many homes. a lot of tehm were "extra" lake houses. the ins is very high for teh homes around the lake.,,, but why would you spend that much money and not insure your home?
Ill bet that family went though 75 dollars in un-needed extras instead of paying about 20.3 cents a day! man thats chump change. most people spend that at the bar in one night, or in 3 weekends of drinking cheep beer!

Re: Effects Pedals? (32 replies, posted in Electric)
Bunbun
I would spend the extra money for the ablility to go into a laptop via usb, and really see what things look like + being able to record directly to your comp.
I would ask GC to show you one hooked up to a comp and then play with both units,,,,
but hey thats just me ,,(an Im a little biased, there are 3 RP units in my guitar room. My RP250, my 10yr olds RP 70 and my 9yr olds BP80) :-)
I guess its what bells and whistles you want.
(or buy 6 Fab pedals LOLOLOL)
cheers!

Re: Effects Pedals? (32 replies, posted in Electric)
Amy,
I have a bit of all the above. Boss Is NICE, but pricy. I have the slighly older Digitech RP250. I think the 255 would be a great way to go! I bought my 10yr old a RP70 last year and he just uses the stock settings, has not tried to programme or tweak any of the factory stuff.
The very cool thing of the RP255 is that he can hook it to his laptop/ desk top and go to the RP website, down load the free X-edit software, and have about 100 different effects at his whim. they also have downloads of 1000's and I do mean 1000's of user made patches you can down load.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … ects-pedal
here is the info links: http://www.digitech.com/en-US/products/rp255 if you dont want to spend that much look into the 155 or the 70, but the 255 has teh expression pedal.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … ects-pedal
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … fect-pedal
but for 120 you really cant go wrong. If he ends up like me he will not want to stop there. I love a mix of my processor and stomps. I can set a clean chorused setting on the RP and when I need to boost it for some nastyness in the same song I stomp down on my MXR Full Bore metal.
also to repeat what someone else mentioned Danelectro makes great stuff for the price. I even say for starters the FAB line of pedals is good. I just bought a delay and a chorus for my nephew. at 15 and 20 bucks,, you really cant complain. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitar-e … =site1AQBA
When I bought the RP70 for my son, I also bought him a Fab distortion so he could do what I mentioned above.
As far as power,,, all the stomps run on either an AC adaptor or 9V battery. ( suggest for starters, get him a big value pack of 9Volts) On the RP, there is no on off switch, So I have it attached to a short power strip and use its on off button.
Hope this helps.

Re: Effects Chain (5 replies, posted in Electric)
Well technically that is what send and return loops are for, so that you can go guitar to amp. but I dont have any amps with the loop feature. I have never noticed a drop in sound with my stomps.

Much better!
I see you have taken some of the advise from the post. It shows. Very good Job!!
By Holly sitting closer she is much more audible. How soft a pick is Shane using? To make the guitar softer, try lighter pics or even a rubber one. really nice sound that way.
Holly, please dont hide in the shadows, a tad more soft light slightly fwd and overhead will accent but not wash out.
I gave you a thumbs up on your vid.
Rock on!

u kidding! I would love to have my guitar signed by some wone who counts! It would be clear coated and then put on a wall! Of course it would have to be a legend to count. B.B. King, Paige, Kirk,, etc.

YOUR DOING GREAT. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING 20 YEARS AND STILL SUCK! I have only played infront of ppl at church and that was in a setting where i did not have to be perfect. I dont sing and I cant play lead.
If you need help with theory,, I suggest you check out Marty schwartz on you tube, he sells an incredable package for that. (and he is fun to learn from) or Doug Marks Metal method. Lots of stuff in both items!
this book is good also. http://www.amazon.com/Arlen-Roths-Heavy … 0028700104
I xeroxed the whole thing,, but it was an earlier version. (pre-scanners!)
It will get you whre you want to be,,,If not you will get some good fundamentals from it.
