Thank you for this. On this past Monday I took a family member, my husband's dog, for his last car ride to the Vet. It sucks... your song is written with true love and compassion and hits home in a beautiful way. A lovely write.

Re: "Won't be Home" - - Strumming and Singing (7 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hi Nevets... You've been playing longer than I have, so I have a hard time commenting on this one, but I'll give it a try anyway! I do think, like Southernrockr says, if you try hard enough you can do it! It may take a while, but you can! My biggest suggestion would be to start out at your own speed; slow this song down! I would try first to figure out that strumming pattern, then do the changes with the pattern. Then work on speeding it up a little... maybe not quite as fast as he is, but a little so that it sounds something like the song to you. THEN work on adding in the words. The lyrics don't seem to go "easily" with the rhythm so it will be quite tricky. May I suggest once you get the song down at a speed you like, record it, then try to just sing along with it? If you can handle that, then try playing and singing along with YOUR recorded version at YOUR speed. Then just work up from there once you can get the lyrics where they belong.
I had to do that with a couple songs I've played. There were times when I almost gave up as I swore I'd never be able to play and sing at the same time as the timing/rhythm just FELT so far off... but once you get it all together, it sounds AWESOME and you'll be gosh darn proud of yourself!!

Re: Looking for the chords to Ratcliffe Highway? (12 replies, posted in Song requests)
Hi Justin! Glad we were able to help out!! If you take a look around the site and familiarize yourself with it a bit more, you'll find that the chords and lyrics found here are actually not hosted here, rather they are simply indexed here and formatted in a way that is easy to read while still hosted on other sites. Chordie has had legal issues with the posting of copyright songs. As you see, when Roger replied he simply stated a chord sequence without lyrics. Once you create a finished arrangement you can post here with the basic chord sequence or a "one liner" on how to play the song, but sadly we can't allow any copyright lyrics to be posted on the forum.
Take a look around at the stickies on the top of each section and jump right in though! Pretty much everyone here is as kind as Butch, Ian, Roger and Myself! There are many members here willing to help out with any other issues you may have, and chances are excellent that you'll have some input to help others with as well!! Again... WELCOME to Chordie!!

Welcome to the Chordie ... I'm no good at figuring these out, but someone may come along that can. In the mean time - here's a link to the song which does include the lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mss85HjlCyc It's quite pretty!

Ahhh you have it made Zurf! I miss suburban life... been in this rural town for 8 years now. Applesauce, apple pie, and apple crisp is a must for us NY'ers too of course. I hear the apples were ready early this year, I hope I haven't missed out on good pickings as I haven't gone yet.
Jerome... LOL! "doesn't know which end of the pot the water goes in" ... almost spit my coffee out laughing out loud at that one! Good for you to have plenty opportunity to cook! Take a break now and then and order in my friend!

What a horrible experience Ian! I'm really sorry to hear that. May I suggest never going into that store again, not even to buy a pick? That surely is some of the worst customer service I've ever heard of. When buying online, just make sure their return policy is golden... they will allow you to return the guitar for any reason or no reason. Geo suggested Rondomusic because they do have great guitars and will allow a return for any or no reason. Their customer service is really great (but I think they are US based... so I'm not sure how prices will fare coming to the UK). Good luck and keep us posted! I also like the suggestion of going out for a day trip to a larger city and checking out some other shops. THAT sounds like an awesome way to spend a day!

Re: Looking for the chords to Ratcliffe Highway? (12 replies, posted in Song requests)
Justin... I'm not too good at guessing what people are playing by watching them (and I haven't ventured that high up on the guitar neck myself yet), but I'll be someone here can help with this. If this version is close to what you're looking for, maybe someone can tell you what he's playing as it can be seen!

Wow, I never knew you were a cooking sort of guy! Was that homemade ice cream? My husband makes an effort to try to cook dinner at least one night each week to give me a little break, usually it's on Sundays. Last night however I mentioned making pizza and he gladly played games with the kids while I went to it. There's nothing quite like homemade pizza... except maybe nachos! Good choice!

I am excited to hear how you intend this song to go as well! Let us know right here when you have a recorded version! I love the sounds in a minor song!
BTW... I am deleting my post under yours in the other thread - As long as no one else posts under it, you can then delete the other thread if you would like so people can simply find this one!

True - you won't have actually emailed the entire songbook just a link to it. Nonetheless it's good to know that the feature isn't working so that the admin can fix it when he finds some time.
Doug is on the money... songs do disappear at times all because whomever is hosting it decides not to any longer.

Well Tony, congrats on your NGD! Honestly, when I got my steel string it took a while before I was choosing it more and more than my classical... now it's been probably two months since I picked it up, always going straight for the steel strings. So I can understand!

Topic: Independent Artists Country Music (6 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Recently, with the help of a few awesome Chordians, I uploaded a version of one of my original songs to my soundclick account. I was SHOCKED to receive an email the other day that someone had added my song to their playlist. Well, come to find out this lady on SoundClick is out there kind of making up her own radio type show of various independent artists on SoundClick. This is some pretty neat marketing, and obviously if you ask her to do a plug with your song she will (I suppose she might have to like it a little too). Of course now, I have NO CLUE how many people really listen to her "Country Rose Show" including all these different artists, but I do know that I had more listens to my song yesterday than ever, as well as a few more visits to my page. Anyhow, I thought this might be of interest to some of you from the "marketing yourself" end... and for others, listening pleasure to independent country artists on soundclick!
Here's the link to her page where you can listen to her weekly "show"! Enjoy!

Re: Strings - Anyone tried the new Martin "Lifespans"? (21 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I always use Elixer lights Nanoweb, but like most people I found the cost very high. I now buy them online. There is a great site at www.stringsandbeyond.com they currently have great deals on right now on Elixer and those new Martin lifespan strings. I tried cleartone and did not like them. Also at strings and beyond, the shipping is free, if your order comes to $35.00 or more. Same deal in Canada for shipping and no tax! They are based in North Carolina, US. Check them out! I love that site, mostly they just deal in strings and small accessories and picks etc. Their service is great and I have never had problems with orders from them, and they often throw in something small for free as a gift!
Oh, and like Topdown said, I also have snapped several G strings....lol but I love the slippery smooth feel of the strings! Using a heavier string would help, but I like the lights and my guitar is setup for them. I just can't get to carried away banging on them hard....lol
Sounds like a great site... bookmarked for later use! Thank you very much Vxn!

Hey Jeff, I've looked into the numerous options out there to help with quitting and I thought the e-cig looked like the thing that would probably work best for me (either that or just cold turkey). I'm not ready yet... but when I am I will be sure to check into that brand. Good luck, as long as you stay positive I'm sure you can do it!
