Thanks D.S. and to all who have provided hints and ideas and in restrospect concidering the total cost of time and materials if I ever do this again I am paying a pro, dont get me wrong I gained a lot from the experience to be sure and I dont think there is nothing wrong with attempting this kind of project it was harder then going on my 1st date or playing my first gig but I can think of more pleasurable activities for my time and thats the key, time but I had to do it just once unlike skydiving if you fail theres always another attempt. lol

Yep I proved that point to my wife about painting my motorcycle myself..  I spent  more than a shop would have charged me by the time I added all the sales slips for the dupli color and extras. Not to mention all my time!  AS You said, great experiance, came out good, and learned to let the pros do it while you borrow your buddies extra bike and have fun riding!

The only differance I can see, between rcording a record to a "metal biased 90 or 120 min" (that was the schnizzel partnered with "virgin vynal") casset and trading it to your buddy for stuff he has is that with computers and internet its world wide and instant.

The bands already mentioned owe A LOT to music free trade.  It was called the underground.  And yes Metallica were jack holes when they went after Napster.  Heck with out the HUGE underground bootlegs of their shows,, they would have taken a lot longer to make it.  and maybe still playing dives.

That is pretty intense. Dark, about an addiction?  It feels almost 3 of them. I hope everything is better than this.  Very E.A. POE feeling.

SOMEONE POSTED THIS ON YOU TUBE.  IT IS GREAT!

http://www.behindtheplayer.com/ace_dvd/

Ace truely was my first guitar God/Hero.  I heard other music from my brothers, but once I heard KISS I was hooked at the tender age of 11.  My very first Rock ricord was KISS ALIVE II.

As I matured I discovered other great guitar gods.  Ace never has gotten much crerdit from the purist.  But He wrote some of the best Kiss tunes ever!  He may play a bit sloppy, and have basic  hooks, but I LOVE HIS ATTITUDE!  Evidently so did a whole generation.  Panterra's Dimebag, and Skid Row. Anthrax and even Garth Brooks!

here is a great BIO page I found.  http://www.kissinuk.com/bio/ace.htm

I really liked his CD that came out in 2009.  The best since his 97 solo with Kiss.  I hope will be working on a new one soon.

ENJOY.

many thanks for your reply yes it is the same amp as you asked at the moment i have only used the clean channel by johnny marr the manual that i downloaded from fender website is very sparce it does not go into great detail.
i have to laugh when my daughter visit me with her friends she tells them dont ask my dad to play his guitar.
probably the best thing i can do is forget pedals for the moment the next thing on my list is a proper fender strat in stead of this copy.
many thanks for your kind comments as everyone keeps telling me rock on.
all the very best to you..

john

John, instead of worrying about your strat being a copy,, just mod it up. its still cheaper.  Have you had it "SET UP"?  Here is a great guy in italy to tell you how to do most of it your self.

Zurf I dont know and dont care I knew if I kept at it would find what I needed and I did! oddly enough it was at Walmart I took the test strip with me and compared it to the available colors and lo and behold Krylon has a cherry red gloss spray paint it is identical to the color from my test strip I even sprayed  a tiny area and let it dry I could not tell the difference and it only cost $3.47 for a 12 oz can so I got two and best of all they also make a clear glaze spray that dose the same as clear coat it was also $3.47 when I got home I sprayed the test strip with a thin layer and let it dry and took a peek its like a mirror I could see my reflection I am going to be busy tomorrow and since this is not a translucent paint I dont need a silver or gold base coat. This is really good information for anyone who is thinking of doing a paint job on there guitar you dont have to spend an arm and a leg to get a quality finish I cant wait to get at it I think I will have it finished before the Fender tuning heads arrive I will keep all posted on my progress happy happy man!   smile smile smile

Dont forget to wet sand and when done,,, the rubbing compound , polish , and wax to protect the finish.

I've decided I'm blaming my guitar for the issue with barre chords... dang that is some amazing stuff!

Have you tried the old raquet ball between the fingers to help strech the tendons.  Oh and for root 5th's you can use 1 and 3 or 1 and 4 for the reach.  keep at it, it gets easier.

Hows the digitech treating you guys?

"ps. any tips on what pedals i should buy"

There is a can of worms! LOLOLOLOLOL

I am so impressed as the other to hear of you learning @75!! That is freaking great!  NOT ONLY THAT you by passed pratice amps and went right for teh big boy and the 4x12 .  I LOVE IT!

Effects can be like flowers.   depends on what you want to smell and what flavor you want to play with.

I am gonna guess that with that head, you rally dont need a distortion box,, unless you just want to bump up your signal.

Most on here will tell ya to go to qa guitar center, and start playing around.  They have about everything you could imagin on test stands with guitars hooked up.  There is also YOU Tube.  TONE king shows a bunch of effects and amps.
http://www.youtube.com/user/lmsjr?blend=1&ob=0

Hey is it this mustang?  http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN2300050
If so you have an army of effects just waiting on ya.  play with all the ones loaded on this amp.  The V is the only mustang of that wattage that came up.

Good rocking to ya.  maybe by the time I am 75 Ill be able to play like a pro  only been at it 25 years!LOLOLOL

also look 8 topics down and you will see one titled EFFECTS PEDALS?  Two pages of stuff on that.

Thanks Jarome!  I  have just bought a 2 gig external.  once I get everything moved into it, and free up my laptop memory again, I am going to load up cake walk and actually learn teh darn thing. I think I will be sooo ahead. and thanks for the basics on the VST.  Ill use that link as soon as I can get everything cued up.

I should be ashamed for letting that program sit for 4 years.  now its way outdated, but I still see cakwalk stuff in MF, so I sohould be able to update as needed.  I think it has a reverb in its mixer that dials in.

Thanks for the info.

Im not a big gamer. Heck I have to fight  for time to get any music done.   A few more specifics?

"I agree with the multi-core CPU and would also look into getting a top-notch recording sound card"
OK what is a top notch sound card for that?  multi core CPU, just lookaround?  how do I know what I am getting?

and lots of I/O. I am assumeing this is IN and outs .. is this for the sound card?

and I guess the OS needs to be bought also? So thats about 400.   HMMMM I gotta really think this out.

Nice song and great pictures.

I think that my laptop is reaching its limit as far as home recording.

has anyone built a computer for heavy multi media use.  I would still be using it as a daily, but anyone got advice on processors  sound cards etc.... Pleas try to keep it in laymans terms.  I think Ill be buying it piece by piece and have someone put it all together.

Once again,, Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies.
@ Jerome--- your first reply,,,, that sounds like an inverse square law to me! LOLOL.  I am pretty illiterate when it comes to this Tech. What is a VST and DAW? Are there free ones?  I’m on a slim to nothing budget and even less free time for my hobby of music.
@Russell--I have printed everything I can off the audacity web page.
My mixer does not come with on board effects.  This is what it carries:

Premium ultra-low noise, high headroom analog mixer
2 state-of-the-art XENYX Mic Preamps comparable to stand-alone boutique preamps
Neo-classic "British" 3-band EQs for warm and musical sound
1 post fader FX send per channel for external FX devices
1 stereo aux return for FX applications or as separate stereo input
Main mix outputs plus separate control room, phones and stereo CD/tape outputs
CD/tape inputs assignable to main mix or control room/phones outputs

So with this effex post fader, I have to buy more s#*t. or can I create a loop with my DigiTech RP250?
As of now I have been planning on running through the amp and Mic it to the mixer.  I can then use the amps reverb.  ONLY CATCH is the vocal track will more than likely be "phoned in" via drop box.  I guess I’ll be playing for a while to get the reverb on it set right.
Maybe run the vocal track (which will be an mp3 more than likely) to the amp and DI to the mixer?

Crap, maybe I need to bite the bullet and learn that Cakewalk program I have had for 4 years and is still in a box.  ....but then I need a bigger hard drive/better comp and screen!

Ok who is a Audacity whiz?

I have a lot of questions.  I think I have the basics down.   When it comes to post priduction I am a bit lost.

my biggest question right now is,  If I have a good dry vocal track and I want to add reverb, and I go to effects and bring up reverb,,,, How do I get a good setting?  I have been playing with it a lot and  the vocal comes out like crap.

I would love it if someone has some stock setttings they have found and always use across the board for some of the better options.

Interested in, well everything LOLOLOL but maybe a few stock good sets for:
EQ for vocals and one for guitars/whole band
echo
phase
reverb
I have the leveling, fade in and out down. any help would be great! thanks in advance.

Just had an idea for teh radious, buy the sanding sponge.  You can get them at wall mart or the hardware store.  they will contour around  and not take off the original shape.  Probably the best option.  I would just get it blended in with the top and bottom, then as long as you have scuffed the existing paint, you can just shoot over it.

OH remember lots of thin coats are better and less chance of runs.  first coat should be a dust coat then aapply a few thin coats.,,,WET SAND with 1000 grit, wipe down with tack cloth and do it till desired finish.

THE JOURNEY
January 24, 2012

Standing at the edge of unconsciousness
Take a look inside yourself,
Who do you see?
Staring at a vicious sunrise
Tell me, can’t you see?

Ashes to ashes dust to dust
From here we came to go we must.
Nobody likes it when the reaper is near.
Look into my eyes I can see your fear.

I’m your shadow of darkness,
I’m in you and your in me,
I’ll take you further than you’ve ever seen.

Ashes to ashes dust to dust
From here we came to go we must.
Nobody likes it when the reaper is near.
Look into my eyes I can see your fear.

Dying now you cannot see
What your death means
Reach out, give yourself over
Reach out to me.

Ashes to ashes dust to dust
From here we came to go we must.
Nobody likes it when the reaper is near.
Look into my eyes I can see your fear.

Russ. if you want a great candy red, check out the Duplicolor metalcast colors.

Imentioned the silver as a base cause I painted my police bike that way I used ultra silver metalic as a base then coated it with red anodized metalcast and then the clear coat. wet sanded between every coat and rubbing compound, polish and wax.

i can e-mail you a pic of the color if your interested.  here is the metalcast link.

I agree with sending for lessons.  Fins a teacher who they will connect with.  someone young and hip always works.  my 9yr old boy took lessons for a year.  now its Youtube as a teacher, but I want to send hom back as soon as I can afford it.

Not all parents can be good teacher of their kids.  THat is why I wont coach my own kids.  Im too hard on them and wnat them to do better than I think they are doing. (+ I did not learn properly so I want him to be taught correctly.)  now he will ask me one or two things, but I dont push.  just a nudge now and again.
