I'm with Southpaw here "No substituts for becoming a real
musician" I think like any toy a kid gets, the novelty wears off
in time. I would like to give it a go tho just to see what all
the fuss is about.

For years the Cananian dollar was 30 to 40 cents lower than the US dollar, now our dollar is 2 to 5 cents higher than the US 's  dollar. Big ticket items are starting to go down in price here. On a radio talk show the conversation was about how in Canada an average car would be 10 to 15 thousand dollars cheaper in the USA. People travel to the USA just for the savings. They say if our dollar stays the same in time we will see the price of a car in Canada be that of the USA.
Hope that refelcts on guitar prices as i would love to add to my collection.

Well, I'm not a teenager but I've got a bit of the same problem.  Today is my 20th wedding anniversary.  Now I learned "Forever and Ever Amen" for this occaission, but I've played it so many times now in practice that it's not something that my funny little honey will appreciate.

So, I need another song.  I'm thinking "Flesh and Blood" by Johnny Cash.  My wife gets a little jealous of my river time sometimes, so I thought a song with the lyric, "Mother Nature's quite a lady, but you're the one I need" fits well.

Not writing my own song.  Just not going to happen.  If you heard the silly things I make up around the house you'd know why.  They always seem to come back to gastric disturbances somehow.  Eight year old boys like my ditties, but they are not suitable for a love song.

I'm open for suggestions.  Keep it to open chords if possible.  I've got to learn the song today (with laryngitis no less - but a strong shot of whiskey will take care of that long enough to sing a three minute song).

- Zurf

Try  Willie Nelson's  "Whiskey River"  ooop's bad choice what about Roy Clark's "Daisy a Day" for a 20th wedding
anniversary.

Congrats.... Badeye.

Hi Lena , haven't had a lesson yet , pretty well self taught,
I pick up lots of tips at kitchen jams with some of my good friends that played guitar for some time now. Something new is always good for the soul. I say a change is as good as a rest. Never no, a few lessons may get you to the next level with your guitar playing. Your song for Gem and I is
precious to us, hit the nail right on the head. Try a lesson or two and see what happens!

Check out  Jeff Healy  for some wicked guitar solo's. He is blind from an early age and plays guitar on his lap. We watched him one nite and he was so into it he fell off the stage, the band picked him up and he continued as if nothing happened. The show must go on.

Hello all,  To new guitar players say in the last year or two
What is your progress??  Myself I practice scales for a long time which i think helped. Now practicing from open chords to Bar chords which is going well. I've been at it for two years and practice two to four hours every day. My progress is good and it's true what they say "Practice is the Key"
Anyone willing to share what they learned on guitar??

Mornin DocPhil, I attended five April Wine concerts over the years and when they announce thier drummer he usually solo's for 20 to 25 minutes and is always amazing. I guess it gives the other's in the band time for a smoke break or bathroom duties. Seems the other solo's are shorter. Anyway to me you can't beat live music, as I always love going to Live Shows.

Have a great day Doc..... Badeye.
