It's a capo conversion chart to help you understand what key you're changing to when you use the capo.  May be what you were looking for?

Well, Roger did such a good job keeping the intended recipient a secret that he didn't even tell ME it was coming!  WHAT A NICE SURPRISE to find a box of goodies waiting for me at the post office (my hubby thought it was his ink for his tattoo shop and was excited, then let down, then excited again when he sorted through it with me!).

It'll take me a bit as well to go through everything and check out some of these CD's and figure out something wonderful to add to it (perhaps a secret song just for the box????), but for whomever would like it next go ahead and send along an email to me!

A little FYI about the nails in the video....

The process he's using on his nails in that video is called a "Nail Wrap" if you were to go to a nail salon to have that done.  Fiberglass wraps are a little stronger than silk wraps, but silk tends to blend into the nail better and be less visible.  You WILL want to at least wear a clear coat of nail polish over the top to help keep the wrap from lifting sooner.  In the salon, we don't generally do layers upon layers of wrap on a nail... one or two layers is generally sufficient and many layers will be more likely to lift up sooner.  Nail wraps are usually used to strengthen nails, repair broken nails, and can be used to add nail tips (extend the nail with a plastic tip glued onto the nail and the wrap over the top of it).

Anyhow, that should get you started should you go into a nail salon and want to ask for this service.  Keep in mind most manicurists aren't going to be knowledgeable in the use of nail enhancements for guitar playing and you'll probably get more of what you are looking for if you pay a little more and go into a nail salon that is filled with those who speak fluent English wink

Hi there SpaceHamster and welcome to Chordie!

I just did a quick edit on the title of your post so those reading will know that you're looking for UKE Chords to the song before they get in here too far.  It may help to attract the UKE players' attention as well so they will actually look at the post.  Hope this helps you out!

You may want to take a minute to peruse the "Other String Instruments" section found here:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=12 : also just in case someone has links there to great UKE sites.  I don't visit that section much myself so I have NO CLUE really whats in there and what isn't.  GOOD LUCK!!  smile

I agree... but being able to think of the song that you know that you can sing and play without thinking... that's another story!  LOL!

Hello socrteach and welcome to Chordie.  I had to remove the copyright material from your post.  If you would still like help putting the lyrics and chords together for this song, the best thing to do is let users know that you have the information but need the help and then this can be done off the forums via email.  Due to legal issues, copyright material cannot be posted on the forums.  The only copyright material that CAN be posted is that of your own (and that is generally done within the songwriting section to share your own material with others).  Please take a moment to look at the stickies at the top of each section and read the Guidelines within the ABOUT CHORDIE section.  Thank you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We usually have a party at home, however my kids are sick so we cancelled it this year and just hung out and played the wii.  I fell asleep at 11:20 and was woken my my son and husband at the last 10 seconds of 2010, just in time to yell out the happy new year greeting and then make my way to bed.  I'm usually much more exciting than this.  LOL!  On the other hand, it was nice not having to play hostess this year and just chill.  I'm thinking after a little cleaning of the house, some guitar playing is in order to ring in 2011 correctly!

Thanks Kenny!  Since I started working, I haven't had much time to really push anything ... in fact, I haven't even checked out my soundclick stats in a few months.  It was really exciting though to hear my song on someone's list!

Caromshot... good for you!  It's GREAT to play with others, and tricky too!  The "bar session" was nothing more than a bunch of folks sitting around having some drinks and playing a few... so it wasn't anything too exciting, yet it was at the same time!  smile  My son bought me a "Songwriter's rhyming dictionary" for Christmas, I guess I need to sit down now and try to write another!!  smile

I don't usually do resolutions, but I've already decided that I'm going to start my Christmas shopping EARLY this year... like maybe February.  I'm just going to start picking things up that I see and like for the kids and save the stuff for Christmas.  This holiday blew by so fast that I really didn't enjoy it.  This was also the first year I was "working a job" while having sooo many to shop for that the shopping overtook the FUN parts (like baking and cookie making and house cleaning).  blah!  I want to take the time to do THAT stuff next year and having my shopping all done!

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Chordie Family from my family as well!

CC, that is really sad and I'm sorry to hear of losing your wife and your children's mother around the holidays.  My husband's father passed away years ago on December 26th, while on vacation, in a hotel room.  I didn't know him then.  His family is not the cheeriest around the holidays... so my thoughts go out to you and your girls, it sure does make what should be a happy time of year a WHOLE lot different.

I noticed both **** and **** are referred to as males... phew!

NOT IT!

All good advice, just wanted to welcome  you aboard if I haven't already!  So... WELCOME to Chordie and the forums!

I think it took me a good six months before I was capable of doing a couple different strum patterns.  Even now I have to practice a bit before I can get a new one down decent enough not to lose myself while singing.  Practice might not always make perfect, but it will make things better!  big_smile

MKM, I wonder if the nut is standing too tall - holding your strings too high at the low end. I cut nut the grooves down lower on a guitar once and it really helped.
Merry christmas

I've thought about that Toots, but I'm scared to fiddle with it myself.  I have measured the string height, and figure the nut could probably be lowered a hair, though it is right AT the "standard specifications".  I've thought about paying someone to do it for me, but with my guitar costing me as little as it did, it seems silly to spend so much on it.  I figure... I'll just get by and wait until I can afford a nicer guitar and get it all set up right and then maybe experiment a little on this one!  Either that or save my money to head south for a jam and request Pix brings  his files with him wink  LOL!

I have a difficult time fretting my Epi ... lucky for me I'm a girl and sing a bit higher so I tend to use my capo more often than not.  Playing higher up the neck is much easier fretting!  When I get frustrated, I just put it away and get out my classical and try not to beat on the nylons too much!

That's pretty amazing and it's no wonder you would like to make sure that the name of your family is not tarnished by someone else... or that someone else is not earning money off the toils of your family.  Thank you for sharing the story as well as the true story via your photo album.

Welcome to the forum goonreandy!  It feels like yesterday that I was saying I'd been playing/learning for three months, it's been over a year now.  That is a good point to be at right there... you're past the worst of the finger pain and really starting to learn some chords and be able to put things together a bit.  Different strumming patterns will soon come to you, I promise!  Check out the sticky in the top of this section for a look at some different strumming pattern videos.  A good way to search for patterns to specific songs is on youtube using the word "tutorial" along with the song name.  Another useful tip is checking out the large chord chart here on Chordie which can be found in the resources tab at the top of the page, or here:  http://www.chordie.com/chords.php  - you can click on any individual chord to get alternate fingerings to play.

As for your question about playing higher up the fret board, I'm not too into bare chords yet myself... but one hint of advice that I did pick up along the way that was helpful... check out this chord:

http://www.chordimages.com/ramimages/i1/Asharp7chord_NN1112_3.png
NOTE the 3 on the left side of the chord chart?  That indicates that you are not fretting this chord at the top of neck, rather the barre is on the 3rd fret.  This does occur in shapes other than barre chords and you may see it more often as you look into alternate fingerings for chords.  Check out the alternate fingerings for the A7 chord (easy enough as is, you could play it on the 7th fret a little differently).

Anyhow, welcome aboard!  You'll find that there are tons of people here from all over the world that will be happy to help you along your journey.  MANY of us are self taught... I like to consider myself as "Chordie Taught" though!  wink

just a hunch is it calling each chord by the number of the chord in the scale? like I 4 5 6 (C F G Am)? I googled up Nashville number system and its the same. When I played in Vegas we used this system all the time on new songs I would call out the changes by numbers it is a very quick and easy system to communicate the chord changes even if you have never played the song before a little theory cant hurt smile

You're right Russell about a little theory not hurting, and I need to add that to my list of things to practice.  It's about  time for me to delve deeper into theory!  wink
