Thank you "my darling", chordie is so much more than only music. If you write a lot, you read a lot, you start to know a lot of members, driven by the passion of playing music.
Yesterday, I wrote a big topic about a song I am still writing. I WAS ALMOST INABLE, to play the way I did. I really need a device, like and a ZOOM H4, and a BOSS MICRO MR, or if you buy a boss 600, I noticed that you also have very good mics, and 8 real tracks + 300 bass and drum patterns.
BUT HOW CAN I PUT A CHORD DIAGRAM on this site?

HI WIBBLE, is it me kidding?
I don't know if you have products in the states under this brand, but if you buy THAT brand, there is a drawing on the box. Take google, write captain iglo, and I am almost convinced that he is the Husband of Celihihijooohon Dihihyohoion.
In fact it is not the band that I can't stand, but the music, even if they have good songs. SO thank you again for the existance of a computer with the possibilitie that if you like only 1 song on the 20 songs, you can rip the album, and take just the song you need.
If you see that image, I tried 15 minutes to place it here, it didn't work, you will believe me.

Re: Bands That Stuck It Out (10 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well, fellow chordian, I will be 52 years YOUNG on December 7th, and the very same question popped up, not know, but already years.
I hope to be right that reunions are excluded.
I think that we should be able to find a lot more bands, "lost glories", but still on the road to live the life they always had.
- PINK FLOYD SHOULD BE IN THAT LIST TOO, they lost Syd Barrett, and later on Roger Waters left the group, but if you mail me: bad answer: see the Stones= 3 left from the original line up.
There is almost no group in the original line up EXCEPT 1, yes ONE group: ZZ TOP. They started with 3, and they still play with 3 SINCE 1969!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love those guys, especially, GIBBONS & HILL, who have Santa Claus faces, but when I hear the drummer's name, I still have to laugh, already for years. His name is beard, but he hasn't one and Gibbons & Hill, well.. I am wondering if the length of their beards is not affecting their play, that the touch a hear in stead of a string.
The longest running band should be STATUS QUO, they started in 1962!! and except for some changes, you can tell that the HOT SHOTS, are still playing. RICK PARFITT & FRANCIS ROSSI.
THEY ARE 45 years active, amazing, almost unbelievable.
FACT: the AC/DC brothers YOUNG started forming a Group ( Angus and Malcolm Young ), but Have you heard about the "EASYBEATS"with their smash hit: "Friday on my mind", and "hello, I love you, was found by George YOUNG, yes the older brother, with a guy named VANDA (originally from the Netherlands, real name VANDENBERGH).
Before they became very popular, they even had the second place, in albums sold in the USA, and I think they sold now about 200.000.000 records. They had different line ups, one of the better was with Bon Scott (+1980) In some cultures, "AC/DC" is a slang term for bisexuality;
Also some religious figures have suggested that the name stands for "Anti-Christ/Devil's Child(ren)", "Anti-Christ/Devil Christ", and "After Christ/Devil Comes".
You can probably add THE WHO, again a group having PETE TOWNSHEND and ROGER DALTREY, starting in 1964.
If you DON'T COUNT the periods of NON-ACTIVITY, they are playing about 43 years.
I hope this was helpful, and I like always to add, mostly "not knowed facts".
I LOVE THIS QUESTION

THIS SITE IS TOO good.
btw: how is dear beloved =paranormal? did he left the building. Youi have to admit, he was kind of strange, but it can be perfectly normal, if he see some hair coming out between the legs.
He had some nice questions, but knowing the job I used to do, this was 2-3 times a week, just seeing people as him, and the way the others, me included, were afraid, because if he didn't get ab answer, he answered himself.
It is a lot about education: it starts with your "parents", often "grandparents too". Going to Kindergarten, school, college, university, you will have every year other friends, other opinions, reducing the impact of our parents up to maybe 25%. I don't know if I am proper educated, because when I see my lifestyle now: OK living alone since 2 years, but bad habits from the past return, like reading, while eating, because of my crash, in fact since I stopped working, maybe far to young, my last "heroic" thing was: working as a doc on a cruise line, AND did I tell you that I followed 2 years, twice a week, 4 hours long, followed private class, to learn hypnosis? If you want I can perform for an audience, it's more a skill than a talent. I can write you so much about it, (used it 90% in my job, 10% for fun.
I mention this fact, just because of the "MASS HYPNOSIS" some groups have, musicians: so overwhelming, that you have no notice what is happening.

I play and collect guitars as well. So an acoustic bunch:
- Gibson Hummingbird (early 60ties), the same other colour 90ties, Gibson Dove (early 60ties), Gibson Montana Gold SJ-200, Martin D-1 -12, Martin D-15, Martin D-16 (electro-acoustic), Martin Backpacker, Martin HD-28, Martin D-45.
- Electric: Fender stratocaster 1964 (original), reissue 1952 Fender Telecaster California Beach (only available in limited edition in Europe), PRS EG 1, EG 2, EG 3 (US made 1990-1992), PRS SE Tremonti (KOREA, but better than most other electric, and a lot cheaper than the real) Gibson Faded Flying V, Gibson SG Menace, Gibson LP supreme, 2 Gibson Les Paul Custom, Variax 700, Burns 2x6 12 string electric.
I can open a store probably,

I, and most of us, never asked the question: ARE THERE CHORDIAN'S, MEMBERS or VISITORS who are real professional musicians, who can live a very good life thanks to their skill, talent and courage. I told it already, we see and dream about the fact to become a star (who knows), but are there stars on CHORDIE?
The dark side of being a star is the same as for a carpenter, or a lawyer: work, work and work.
Practise, try outs, disputes, making a song like in "grandmothers way".
This brings me to the fact:
- If you are busy in a serious way to try to catch your dream, how do you work? It is completely different now, than 10-15 tears ago. Do you record everything you play (acoustic, some fantastic devices like H4, with great mics), and how do you work, what do you do: playing in a group: contacting each other, let's say a week later to see who wrote what, and if you have 30 songs, how do you manage this.?)
TRUE OR FALSE: I heard and read that the song "SATISFACTION" by the ROLLING STONES, was originally a ballad (like they used to write at that time, Ruby Tuesday, Lady Jane), but that a producer, I'm not sure, changed it in an up tempo song, a rock song, as we all know today.

manofgod, I think I wrote it already somewhere, the amazing fact and skill to give critic.
I hate a lot of the so called critic gourous, looking letter after letter to give their opinion,n about lyrics. I swear that I can write a song, lyrics, in 10 minutes, rhyming and fitting well in my song, but full of bullsh**, non sense lyrics. If I was a famous and gifted songwriter, I think, when reading the critics, like are there hidden messages, what does he mean with that phrase, I will drop dead from choking, because I had to much fun and had to laugh. Like the, by the way, beautiful song, A WHITER SHADE OF PALE, by PROCOL HARUM, nobody knew what those lyrics tried to express, they tried everything to find something, but PROCOL had fun, because in fact the song was written (on LSD I think) and he just put lyrics like that. If you want: in 5 minutes I can write a complete crazy lyric, and try to figure out what I wanted to tell to the world

Hey there DOLL and ROGER, where is the time we went to concerts watching the MUST BE PLAYED, parts, like 15 minutes on the drum, 10 minutes bass solo, and of course the guitar solo?
I have the LED ZEPPELIN DVD: produced by no one else than JIMMY PAGE. FABULOUS, but if you start analysing this, and knowing that PAGE produced it (it took years I heard) you will notice that a 20 minute song is divided in 4 parts: 10 minutes PAGE, 5 minutes PLANT, and the rest 50% "John BONZO BONHAM" giving a demonstration (in my eyes, he is at least in the top 5 of all drummers), and the other 50% by Jones, on bass, BUT also a lot of other instruments. I think that JONES is a genious, a multi instrumentalist, and very, very underestimated.

James, I have a big problem. I was busy playing Gloria Gaynor's smash hit "I will survive", but, exactly knowing how to play this song, I turned with all the same chords and lyrics into a ballad. This morning, I was more sentimental as usual, I started to play on 1 string (little E) followed by the same pattern on the B-chord: I wrote a topic. It, and I hate this, is a real gem, but in an early phase, no real strophe, not a bridge or refrein, but I don't know how to put this "start" on the web, see my topic. I loved to share this, where do you find tabs, because I started on E 2th fret, up to 3th, than b string 2 up to 3th fret and back, followed by D. Where can I find a site to put these things on chordie?
Thanks James

Topic: an own song (1 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I am making already a reservation, because, and this is a very hard one for me, I write a lot of songs. I don't know how to explain this, it stays in the head and it rests in the head. But, no joke, too shy to sing it, but this problem is going a lot better now.
I have almost no voice today, and it is a ballad, probably too sweet.
It started now, because this is my FIRST TIME in my 30 year old musical carreer, that I want to SHARE this song. I have absolutely nop idea how to write it down. A little fact, my guitar buddy was here last night, and his mouth was wide open, I even saw tears, by playing the famous Gloria Gaynor song, I will survive, using exactly the same chords, but I made it into a kind of sad ballad.
This morning, I started to play, first on a D-45 Martin, but 10 seconds later I started on my SJ-200, giving it the sound, really the sound I wanted, because of the crystal clear and lower sounding music. I started some where in D, using just the little E string, going from the second fret to the third fret, and playing the same pattern on the B string, also from the second fret up to the third, back on E string, where, using the E string second fret, I played, more "finger picking" the full D chord, singing a few words at the same time I was using 1 string from 2 to 3 and back to D. This chord was followed still using 1 string, the B, and again on the second fret taking A7, there are different ways, but I only used the D - B chord without my finger on the G string second fret, and going up with my fingers up tio the 5th and 7th fret, than back down. I did the same with the D chord, going up to the 5th fret, just changing my fingers 1 on the E 5th fret, one on the B 5th fret, and the other on the 6th fret on G string, up to 7th fret, using again the classic D chord and back down. IT IS NOT EASY TO WRITE THIS so don't kill me, I don't know how to draw it.
Playing this very sweet, soft and gentle, it was so beautiful, and I have to continue on this one, using other chords, matching, to finish this. You can try it out, or help me out with suggestions in my search for matching chords, knowing that the song starts from D to A.
Please can I have some advise, it is even for me now a little bit emotional, because it sounds so great. Lyrics will go about choices in life, where things got wrong, and why communication is so important. HOW CAN I WRITE THIS SONG TO SHOW YOU THE WAY OF PLAYING IT???

Topic: the gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum (3 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
In particular a question for all the "seniors" on the web, but maybe more important for the juniors.
- DO YOU RECOGNISE THIS SITUATION?
- IS IT STILL LIKE IN THE (GOOD OLD TIME)?
I remember me the end of the sixties very good, but there was a but: it was almost impossible to play a song, or worse an album, of our "idols", like BEATLES, STONES, even the BEE GEES. Within 30 SECONDS, mammy or daddy entered the room, asking if I didn't have to do better things, than listen to that ugly, dirty music. 1 Month later it was better, I had my own turn table. WHO remembers those strange items, it was a mini suitcase, you had to open it, the top served as an amp, and the bottom was this turn table, listening so much and skipping was manual, poor album and needle.
I have of course big, big favourite bands, but as always, taste is different.
My folks hated that music, even the softie song champions, the Bee Gees, but in this case I don't think that it was a question of taste. My mother, can really sing fantastic, but is a classic minded lady, with I think, more than 3000 CD's from every classical composer, like Mozart, Beethoven, and all those guys. My dad (+ 1974, at the age of 45!!!), he loved more folk music, and his all timer favourites were the DUBLINERS. I am convinced that my situation was identical to the situation of almost everyone older than 40 years. Now, I have to confess that my mother (77 years old) started to like some of our contemporary musicians, and yes I am guilty, I started to turn music from Dire Straits, but very well selected songs, like Romeo & Juliette and Why Worry. She will always remain like she used to be, but at least she stepped out of the "conservative" music fixation.
ARE WE DOING THE SAME WITH OUR CHILDREN? on 10 songs, my daughter will like 1, maybe 2 songs. R&B (still HATE this word), is her music. But she likes a lot of music, music that I like too.
I HAVE ONLY ONE CONCLUSION, and I WRITE IT IN LATIN:
DE GUSTIBUS ET COLORIBUS NON EST DISPUTANDUM = about taste and colours it is impossible to dispute. How many of yours have a similar experience? and I hope this topic can bring together the BEAUTIFUL international language of music, learning to appreciate our Parent's music, oyr own music, our Children's music. AND WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMPLETE THIS MISSION.

Re: pathetic pop stars (2 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I admit to know a lot (but this will still be 10%) about things going on in POP LAND.
I have an ocean of time due to a car accident, chordie means a lot to me. The "super nice thing" is that we can discuss almost everything about the WHAT'S GOING ON. Getting help, by asking questions, helping others by answering questions, and it is definitely not a (MUSIC+INSTRUMENT THING), alone, but we share, or at least try to share a lot of information.
I am 51 years young, probably you are younger, and between the USA & Europe: there will always be a difference in music styles, and bands.
Like you have TOM PETTY, I know the man, but almost nothing about his music. Knowing his name, means nothing. There was aso a strange phenomenon, I call it ping pong game. The end 50ties, there was the start of R&R, blues in the states. Because of "skin"problems, there were different charts. In Europe, especially England, there was a new phenomenon: sailors coming from the USA, had often a lot of albums and they sold them here, but in the spirit of that time, the most of the attention went to, CROONERS, BIG BANDS, and because of ethnic differences, the blues, later rock and pop, it all started here, this is the ping part, the pong part is that within 2 years, you had a lot of skiffle (using an authentic wash board"), they also started performing blues and rock. There are too many to mention, but I will giver you 1 name: the early "ROLLING STONES", try to listen to their first songs, and so it went back to the USA (at that time, all this music was diabolic music) to become a new start for so many hyper talented people.
If you should ask me about a man, or a group, I am as agnostic as you I think

HEY JIKKLOP, INTERESTING SITE, but to be honest, are we, I mean all these very enthusiastic chordians on the same frequency? I have it not easy to hear. So in a song I write, I can write a little lyric, like God Jikklop, backwards I should hear in fact Dog Polkkij, isn't it.
But JESUS, written in DUTCH it is JEZUS, separate this word before the Z, you will read JE ZUS= your sister in Dutch, where is mankind going to look for SATANIC messages, everywhere.
So many religions, so many disputes, even wars, and at the end of the story, MUSLIMS included, we all believe in 1 person: GOD or ALLAH, they started later, maybe a bit more aggressive, with MOHAMMED, and Jezus is in their religion a prophet.

Topic: RECORD COMPANY versus INTERNET (1 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
This is a non popular topic for the people playing the puppet (group)strings, deciding if you are good or not.
So I was thinking: IS IT POSSIBLE to place songs on the internet, there are enough interesting devices on the market, like ZOOM H4 for the acoustic, and BOSS, with 4 to 32 tracks + all the virtual tracks, to compose and burn your songs, it will take time, a lot of time, together with "critics" from friends, other musicians, with video (just you "can" perform in different places is enough: youtube and just the songs with or without your picture on myspace ). Of course this is not done in 1 day, maybe if you do it the simple way in 14 days, you have your devices with a lot of drum and bass loops, software to write down your music exists, software to correct for instance, your voice (if you are not pleased with your voice, and this is so tricky, because if you sing and listen, you will just hear the resonance of the music in your head, sinusses.., completly different than to hear you on a recorder).
So you try to perform as good as you can, maybe better at home and not in the studio, and STAYING MODEST when putting your songs on the web.
2 POSSIBILITIES
- your songs play only 1 minute to show your skill, and to give the listener the opportunity to hear just enough if he/she likes you or not, and can give critics.
- your songs can be downloaded for a fix price, like 50 cents for a song.
- Is there a chordian somewhere who agrees or disagrees with this theory, and if so WHY.
- Are there examples of musicians who are getting very well knowed, and getting contracts for gigs working this (internet)way.
I think this is a very nice topic, especially because we all like music, and we like to communicate with music. Every musician hopes that other people like their songs, how personal they might be.
IMAGINE 1 VERY IMPORTANT THING: 5 YEARS AGO, WE HAD TO SEND TO EVERY NAME FROM LITTLE TO BIG, FROM SMALL LABELS TO BIG LABELS A COPY OF OUR MUSIC, NOW WE HAVE THIS GREAT MIRACULOUS OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW WHAT WE CAN.
Not only great players, but everyone has the opportunity.
Some of us do have some songs on "myspace", and it's worth listening to these songs. They still come straight from the heart, and not from a sterile, completely controlled studio, where you have to shut up at the end.

You know what I mean. This was my first contact wioth this quit intreging group. Without the big publicity machine used by record companies, and having the risk that they throw you out, if you sell 5.000.000 copies with your first album, and the next only 2.500.000.

I want really bad more information about this topic, because I have the impression that the more money you own, in the USA, the better you are treated.
If it wasn't for Michael Jackson, but for JOHN SMITH, with a low salary: what would be the verdict in the USA, or are the top lawyers THAT GOOD and SMOOTH.
See also OJ Simpson: when court says you are innocent, why does he has to pay so much to the family of the deceased. HERE: not guilty = not guilty.
See also Paris Hilton.
I think that the other topic was not written as I wanted to, but here is the real reason.
Difference in trials. Also as owner of the BEATLE songs, and still having the record sale THRILLER, that man is a mystery for me.

I feel real bad and sorry for some guys who want to be famous.
The most sad, ugly and not worth to be humans (sorry, it looks hard, but I couldn't find the right expression) are people like Peter Doherty, more known as the ex, non ex, ex, non ex boyfriend of Kate Moss. Another one is Shaun Ryder, frontman of the (un)happy Mondays, and what the f** is that clown doing on stage with his red head (BEZ) trying maybe to be as funny as the late Jimmy Cooper? I saw them, because of my profession, in their trailer on one of the biggest ROCK festivals in the world. Sitting there for 10 minutes was enough to be real stoned, you were not able to see their faces.
The famous Gallagher fights, Liam & Noel, verbal and physic, are more important than the albums they made, containing some real gems.
I also remember me HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS Robert Zimmerman aka BOB DYLAN, more than place enough to go on stage, but we HAD to move 30 inches back. I still cannot believe what happened, they hold him better carried him on stage with 3 bodyguards, and, unbelievable his act was one of the best I saw.
30 years ago, a lot of magazines wrote so called DEATH LISTS: on top LOU REED, followed by KEITH RICHARDS and IGGY POP. It is unbelievable how they are today. I was told that, in the Keith Richards case, that he is still alive because he could have 100% pure heroin, and other drugs, in stead of the result of adding other substances.
WHO CAN HELP ME TO COMPLETE THIS NICE TOPIC?

I still try to figure out that there must be a way to exchange albums, I have all the songs on CD starting with Peter Green, from FLEETWOOD MAC. I also have, and almost not to find, albums of TOM FOGERTY, I noticed that they are now on Amazon.com, but 6 years ago not so easy. It is a relieve that you can find, I PREFER BOOTLEGS of A CD QUALITY, a lot of music on the internet.

I am convinced that a BAND REUNION, has at least 5 purposes:
- $$$$
- ££££
- €€€€
- money
- and some are real happy to play together again, the "old friends feeling", and they really enjoy playing. I have to say: MICK JAGGER at your age still performing= stepping, walking, running and climbing at his age? A lot of people having that age are already PLACED in a service home. KEITH, he was always the freaky one, starts to forget a lot of things: because he felt down for "stealing a coconut, a nut coco yes" And to continue writing about the Stones, it is impossible, and I hate this word to think which way, path they would have token with "the not only pretty boy, but also a musical genius, Brian Jones, IT WAS IN FACT HIS BAND, and Loog Oldham, didn't put him together with Mick or Keith (he locked them up in a room, they were only allowed to leave that room with self written songs).
Also an always returning question is: WHAT ABOUT CHRIS JAGGER?

Topic: COILS HUMBUCKERS (1 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I tried already a lot of things to find "original 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom humbuckers".
What happened. Because I had already a Les Paul Custom (1976, I think), and having in lmy hands the BLACK Beauty, only equipped with 2 humbuckers and not 3, it was I think the first year they started to produce them again, meaning that this is a guitar can be considered as a "moneymaker"
Normally I didn't expect 1 problem. They started with replacing the neck humbucker by a P-94, = P-90, but is a little bit larger to fit in the hole after removing the original humbucker.
There is now since months the GIBSON Les Paul BFG, having a single neck coil, and a humbucker on the bridge. The sound this guitar produced, S-H, was also in the shop, never heard before. Most of the co workers, including me, preferred this structure. No harm done, you get your old humbuckers back. Having a guitar playing friend visiting me, I asked him to change the bridge P-94 back to the original humbucker to have that sound again.
My in that time already ex-girlfriend, threw the box containing the original humbuckers probably away. In 1968 there were TWO different "black Beauty" reissues, a 1954 with SINGLE COILS but P-90, and another 1957 model I think, having 2 Humbuckers. Those reissues are in the BLUE BOOK of ELECTRIC guitars in 2006!! both worth: 6000$, and far more, up to 10.000$. I am a lucky bastard, having the opportunity to buy this HUMBUCKER 1968 reissue for just the fraction of the price, including also a 1964 all original US fender stratocaster (both 4000$).
I am convinced that when selling the "black beauty", I will still have probably 5000$, instead of 2,5 times more.
THIS AGAIN ONE FOR MY FRIEND BOOTLEGER: what can I do. I still hope to find these humbuckers in their box on the attic, I can not go up there due to physical problems, and at first I even wanted not writing this topic, because I am blessed with a fantastic collection, and most of us have to do overtime to afford a more expensive guitar.
IT IS THE QUESTION that can help a lot of others with a single coil, or humbucking problem.
You know, boot, that I like you a lot for giving extremely good tips and tricks, so I hope that youi can have a solution, even the fact that I WILL NOT selling the guitar. I can maybe change the 76 humbuckers on my black, and the P-94 on the reddish custom, but when you sell a guitar, that expensive, it is like lying and cheating, and professional music players, stores they check it out.
THE GUITAR PLAYS LIKE HELL, should be with the "so called" original 1954 reissue with these 2 single coils. WHERE CAN I FIND, and what will be the cost, TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL 1957-58 reissue humbuckers?
