When I get that apathy creeping up, I'll do what Phill suggested and start listening to some good music. I usually spend more time listening than playing anyway, but if I get onto something outside of what I'm familiar with, that often helps.

This is soooo good, Beestie ... I'm nearly in tears. With you being so close to the situation, I can imagine it would be nearly impossible to read this to someone else, let alone try to sing it. Some feelings (IMHO) are best left as poetry ... the rest is private.

The Brady Bunch managed to squeek that one out last night ... crazy game. A sportscaster today noted that the only 3 undefeated teams left in the NFL are named after cats:

The Cincinnati Bengals
The Carolina Panthers
The New England Cheatahs

I'm a Pats fan, but that's still very funny. lol

This is getting really cool. I know there's some other Canadians who are members, and I sincerely hope they'll chime in and have their locations added.

Great idea!

JJJ ...

If you find yourself lacking a guitar to rehab your fingertips on, there's likely to be one at a pawn shop or flea market you could acquire. lol

That's a nice upgrade from both the RP250 and the RP255, Beamer.

Hopefully there are no issues with this unit, and you can transition to it with ease. Since you're already familiar with DigiTech's conceptual base, it shouldn't be hard. I like my BOSS board, as everything's done with knobs, without the view screens and menus that I can't see very well. A guy I jam with regularly likes Electro-Harmonix gear ... it's all what a person gets used to.

I've got a bass, but don't pick it up as much as the others 'cuz I don't play much with other people. And it's not much good as a solo sing-a-long instrument. Scales are definitely important, and developing an inner "metronome" is also useful, especially if working with a drummer.

Definitely can relate! You've got it in 4/4, but the message gives us all the blues! lol

We all do that from time to time, Topdown, and getting things back "in the groove" takes a bit o' time and pain. I really like Dino's suggestion to keep something nearby, just to strum and keep in touch with it.

Pink Floyd    "Us and Them"    London, 1994

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deU_uwlNpOo

This past Wednesday, many of us paid tribute to those who fell in war on our behalf (Veteran's Day, USA  /  Remembrance Day, Canada), and to also express appreciation to the living women and men of our armed forces. Wars are usually started by those seeking to impose their beliefs on others by force, or to seize what isn't rightfully theirs. That's when others need to step up, to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Unfortunately, many of us in the general public are often unaware of the true core issues, which is sad. This in no wise minimizes my own admiration for the bravery shown by our military and law-enforcement personnel ... they are heroes in every respect.

"Us and Them" is one of many Pink Floyd songs which speaks of such things. In simple yet profound terms, this beautiful piece of music is a reminder that those who wield power aren't always being honourable, and those of us who follow them have the right to think for ourselves. 'Nuff said.

We're very fortunate to have a Long & McQuade's only 3 blocks from where I live. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, and haven't ever steered me wrong. They seem to be more concerned about musicians enjoying their music, rather than just trying to sell you something ... which is very refreshing. I've even seen their logo come up as a Chordie advertiser on the home page from time to time.

We don't have Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, or other large chains like that in our area. But then again, Canada has 1/12th the population of the USA, so it wouldn't be viable for most of them.

Congrats on your NAD, FireArt!

I'd never even heard of this brand, so had to look them up. The reviews are terrific, and I might add that's a nice guitar your running through it. I'll bet they sound incredible together! That's also a very cool logo they have. cool

That's terrific work, Phill ... each part is fantastic, and the "whole" is even better. Like BGD I'm not a good songwriter. I've tried putting tunes to my poetry, but somehow it just doesn't sound "original", if that makes any sense.

Nicely done!

Hey Slammer ... welcome to Chordie!

I also do a lot of what Doug mentions, by "printing to file" so I have a copy on my laptop. Comes in real handy, instead of dragging a bunch of binders around.

"Super Dave Osborne" was a Made-in-Canada show, which spun off from another show called "Bizarre" (hosted by John Byner). It was obviously low-budget, down-home style humour, but it was an icon for years ... sort of our version of the Carol Burnett show. The main character is played by host Bob Einstein, and he was mocking all of the hype surrounding Evil Knievel back in the 80's. Every one of his shows featured him doing a "stunt" at the end, and he always got busted up.

Sorry to hear about that, Beamer ... you were quite excited when you told us about it. Nothing is as frustrating as a a disappointment like this. I hope you find something soon.

Bravo, Bill ... bravo!

Ms. Liona Boyd has that winsome, self-effacing persona, that implies she's unaware of just how great she is. Here's a clip from an appearance she made on the Super Dave Osborne Show back in the 80's, and she also reveals a classy sense of humour, as she and Super Dave ham it up a bit starting at 4:00.

And Maestro Feliciano? There no words to describe just how great he is.

Bill, when you began this thread, you stated an intent to give followers a lift on Monday mornings. Well, you've certainly come through this week. Many thanks!

My dear wife and I both have small sources of discretionary income, which are outside of the outside budget. We tuck a few $$$ away for our own hobbies, and never buy anything outside of that unless we've talked and agreed beforehand. She has a horse and also does dollhouse miniatures, I like music and fly fishing, and we both like kayaking and camping together. We're both happy for one another when things are acquired, and that's a habit we've carried with us since we were married in 1979.

Another great find, JJJ ... a real beauty.

I've run out of clever things to say about your bread machine, but it has become the "signature" to every one of your NGD pics. Will it hold a glass of booze like Zurf's new amp? lol

This week's selection is a bit of a cross-over between Prog and Jazz Fusion. There's some clever interplay between keyboardist Foss Patterson and guitarist / flutist Andy Latimer. The bass arrangement (Colin Bass) during the opening flute section always makes me smile ... so smooth. This concert was from their "Coming of Age" DVD, and was the last concert filmed before Latimer became very sick with cancer. There was a hiatus of several years before he could return to performing, but they're still going strong and producing terrific music.

Happy NEW PEDAL DAY, Beamer ...

It's always nice to replace something with another that's very similar ... virtually no learning curve.
