It really does need lyrics!!

but all in, for fun it was good. I would have rated it 5 but I just got a big screen and a play option, nowhere to rate it

and I noticed the uke in there not getting played properly, get him to learn the chords and play along

keep up the songwriting

good post Al.

I cannot adjust my capo, I have one of those clamp hard down things.

idont really notice my string stretching much though, after i have played my guitar I stick it on the stand or my twelve stringer goes on the wall and more times than not it is still in concert pitch.

But I can see why it will make a difference, I might buy an adjustable clamping cappo  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Hi David

I do not know when or if it is still going to happen but Pere ( the admin and oner of chordie) says he is starting a new site for songwriters to put on their own written songs in the form of MP3 or wav files.

Not heard much more about this.

yeah, ye can put it on youtube or something similar as James has said but with a dial up connection you will be waiting quite a long time, might even be an hour or thereabouts.

to put it on youtube you will have to have a video but you dont need a video as in a film.

If you have or get windows movie maker or similar program you can put pictures on, or leave it blank with no visual on screen, then add your song to the clip tarrrra, you have a video. then upload it.

If I were you, I would hit upload and go mow the lawn or go shopping for an hour.

waiting for sometihng to upload can be very annoying and the more you wait the longer it feels.

Not my problem here but one of my mates and I dont have a clue  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_confused.gif" border=0 alt="Confused">

on his guitar one of his strings ( I think it is his G string) sounds duff, it sound like it has been dampened when you play it.

It is not that old the string and everything looks ok.

One day is was fine the next it was not.

I dont think he has changed the string to see if the actual guitar is ok, but he no doubt will.

Anyone got any ideas for this duff sounding string

only a sugestion but have you tried a different lead?

Or try jiggling the lead about where it goes in see if that stops it.

Might be a bad earth in your lead.

Other than that, I have no idea.

hi Jeff,

Sorry, cannot help with this one.

But here

<a href="http://www.azchords.com/j/jam-1965.html" target="_blank">http://www.azchords.com/j/jam-1965.html</a>

is the best place I have fond for other Jam songs.

I think no one in the wolrd will be very hard to find on the net as it was not one of their mainsteam sort of songs, still a great song though, as is all Jam songs ( in my opinion)

Ken

nc,

I have been  telling everyone about slf for ages now.

Not just their first two albumc but all of them.especially their latest, guitar and drum.

They are also making a new one this year.

Been going since 1977 and very underestimated in my books!!!

this year for their tour they are playing the entire first album "Inflamable material" since it was 30 years ago they brought it out. they have played glasgow barrowlands that much same time every year they have been told they have got 17th march every year until they call it a day.

yep, what a band.

Roger waters ( also my god but no god on guitar) is not known as a guitarist. He was the bassist in the band. He does play acoustic guitar now and then though.

Dave Gilmour is by far the better guitar player.

This is a silly request maybe.

I think I am missing some posts becasue of the time difference.

IS it possible so each person can have their own time in their own country? so when a new post is up it shows what time local time it was put on?

I would like this.

Or just change the time to be GMT, this might annoy most users but it would please me very much  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Al,

If the shop in Gr***ock is called guitar guitar then I would recommend it, I got two guitars out there and still got them and play them, ye get goos advice of the guys too, especially the older guy, he knows his stuff. I also think they do repairs??????

If that is all that is wrong with your fender, take it down and ask about getting it repaired and a quote on how much to repair.

However, guitar store on argyll street I would say is just a "gee us yer money" sort of shop, but ye can get a bargain in it.

Let us know how ye get on and happy birthday when it comes.

all the best

Hi Al,

I dont know if you can get the shop you are buying it from to set the bridge or not, if they do they will more than likely charge you for it as I think if bought from the shop it is sold as seen.

When I got my new one last year I shopped a few shops, I just tried a few different guitars and each one different. I finally got one from folk revolution on mary hill road at the far side nearer glasgow. tis a good wee shp for acoustical instruments. But also down nearer your end I like the wee shop in greenock.

Now, this thing about not liking trying guitars out in shops. I was like this too before, but not any more.

What to do is find one tune, the best tune you can do, not even all of the tune just about 4 or 5 different chords and ignore the guy staring at you.

A good way of getting over your phobia is to go into " the guitar store " on argyl street and have a laugh. tell him you are just learning so they will not think anything when you play duff notes and ask randomly for a guitar down that is high up, one that he needs the ladders. After you try about 4 or 5 or 6 different very expensive guitars, tell him thanks and walk out. Or if you are buying one, try all the expensive ones then buy a cheaper one ( thats what i dont when i got my 12 stringer)

aye so, ( are you in greenock? i forgot)

the bridge, if you really like a guitar and you think it is too high, just go ahead and buy it then send it off to get lowered or do it yourself

fields of athenry is a good one for the 12 stringer, i play this song on 6 string, 12 string and the uke ( not all at the same time) and it sounds good on all.

or " everybody hurts" by REM, not good for picking on the 12 stringer but strumming on the 12 stringer for this song is excellent.

and some other ones :

massacre of glen coe -- scottish trad.

hurt   -- johnny cash

belfast 14 --- jake burns and the big wheel / jake burns

sam stone --- john prine

hope that helps a bit

yes, all improvements should be improvements but...

what if someone thinks the song is wrong when it is actually correct and they change it to be wrong?

Since there are a few songs that are wrong, some people must have posted them onto the original site it came from thinking they had submitted a correct version.

So, does this mean we might be chasing round songs and correcting them for them to be uncorrected then for us to recorrect them? etc etc etc  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Also, chordie is a search engine that gets songs from other sites. If we correct songs here on chordie they will obviously not be changed from the original source but they can still get changed here, would this not make the song unique to chordie and therefore the search engine part of chordie will not be the case in a particular song that has changed? ( it is ok, I am confusing myself as I type this  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">  )

With other sites that are getting looked into for releasing lyrics would this not put chordie in the frame too?
