Cheers Piri, apparently a lot of modern sayings come from Shakespear. I was at a Catholic funeral and I remember the Priest saying a lazy way to deliver a good sermon is to quote the bible and something that Malcom Mugrage said or wrote about Christianity. Many of the young ones at the funeral wouldn't have known who Malcom was but people like me knew of him because he use to be interviewed a lot on TV here. One thing I like about the internet is when reading history books in the old days I would have to refer to a dictionary to find out what some words meant but now I can just look them up on the internet.

Verbose Overdose
Is it pernicious or insidious
What about  indigenous or autochthonous
It is all a sea of words
Thrown at me by scholars
Making big dollars
Are they logophiles or lexophiles
Is it a genetic adversity to big words?
That keep people like me away from university
Like a dolphin dives in and out of the sea
I dive in and out of books
Finding new words that were previously a mystery to me

Thank you, Richard, for taking the time to have a listen and give me some feedback. I hope some more people have a go at this month's FSOTM.

When I started playing guitar again about eight years back after a break of thirty years of not playing it took weeks for my fingers to harden up. I heard Paul Simon say in an interview that he tries to play guitar every day for at least an hour and a half. He then said he found that the more you play your guitar the more it gives back or rewards you.

Thank you Richard your doing a real good job here. The four words that came up when I did the word generator this time are.

legend
Coincidence
Ritual
Broken

To get the ball rolling for this month here is a song I wrote Different Layers.

Jim I like the imagery of the lonesome pines and the train in the valley rolling down the track and the love that's lost and slipped through a crack. Clever lyrics.

Keep up the good work Grah

Richard, thank you for your kind comments. I tried to write and play this song in the tradition of good folk songs.

Piri, diolch yn fawr iawn brawd I think Wales are playing better than the All Blacks in this World Cup tournament. The sad thing about driving and using mobile phones is it has killed and injured many. In the Halls of justice if someone gets killed because of someone texting or using their mobile device instead of concentrating on the road I think it is worth a harsh penalty.

It was on the news the other day more people here in New Zealand were walking into trees, tripping over and falling down curbs while on their mobile phones. I know I have had people walk into me while on their phones when I have been out and about. The numbers of these sort of accidents are rising every year in New Zealand. I was in a coffee shop when I heard an older lady on a table next to me scold a younger woman sitting with her for focusing on her phone instead of talking to her. A comment she made was something along the line of, I might as well be on the moon when your on the phone because you certainly aren’t aware that I’m sitting next to you here. That comment got me thinking about distance being so close and yet so far away when someone your with or near is on their mobile phone. From that and watching people everywhere on their phones came the song “ I Am Here”. BTW  I’m impressed by the way your Welsh rugby team is playing at the moment in the World Cup.

Another excellent song Jeff. On a clear still warm night I often sit outside and look at the sky and the thoughts that enter my mind trying to grasp the size of it all up there always blows my mind. When I read astronomy books and the big numbers, they use such as the estimated 4 billion stars in our galaxy the Milky Way makes me think how awesome it all is.

Thank you Piri also Jeff and jakarta , I am glad that my bad vocals and guitar playing entertained. I wasn't sure if my attempt at having a bit of fun with the irony of  kids expecting a mother to take them in a car to demonstrate in front of our Parliament about the older generation using petrol powered vehicles would work.

I wrote song as a joke after a lady told me about how her teenage kids who have good access to public transport and yet they insist she drive them everywhere including to a protest against people using cars. Her oldest daughter who is in her early twenties also informed her that cows are bad for the planet. I just recorded this on my cellphone.

Thank you  Jan
I like using pen and paper but recently I have taken to when I get an idea out of the blue quickly putting it on my phones voice recorder. When I do that walking along the street it looks like I’m talking to someone on the phone when I’m actually just talking into my voice recorder with an idea. As Maree tells me I have invented a new way of talking to myself most probably a sign of madness but never mind it keeps me out of trouble.  Here is a quick poem about my Mums birthday yesterday.

It was my Mums birthday yesterday
One hundred and three she be
An all she wanted was a cup of tea
No fuss said she
I just love her simplicity
She falls a sleep a lot
During the day
Happy in her own way
Her mind now in decline
Between naps she is having a good time
No longer interested in a fancy Gin
Just a cup of tea a cup cake and happy as can be

I have been using cumin for a while as a natural remedy and that seems to have helped. Because of other factors I also had to takes standard meds Further down the track I might look more into Doterra. I was walking with a walking stick and in a big amount of pain all over my body but now I don’t need the walking stick and am not in pain. Thank you for taking the time to offer up your advice. Not sure how much of my guitar fingers dexterity I can get back but I'm slowly working away at it. I sometimes play my friends slide guitar it is a lot of fun.

Brian and Richard keep on commenting and posting its good to have some life on here when I visit. Brian once again you have written another excellent kids' poem.

Violet King was her name
Inflicting pain was her game
Many Scandinavians didn’t like her
Not because she was a one percent biker
Famous for picking up hitch hikers
It was the words tattooed on her forehead
I’m Vi King proud , loud and bad
When asked why are you so loud and gaudy
And have those words tattooed on your head
She replied it's because I am loud and bawdy
That’s why I like to get comments on the words I’ve got written on my head and should have put on chordie
Vi King
When she died her obituary read
Vi King died while out biking over in Greece
Looking for men hitchhiking
She was sadly struck by lightning
Will be remembered for the words written on her head
Vi King more frightening than enticing
Vi King resting in peace in Greece or is it Grease
Now she is deceased  there are no more words for her to release
Why did she pick tattooing when she could have chosen chordie

EB, it is time to get your illustrator man back to work and put your latest kids' poems into a book form.

Richard, your Wanneroo Club website would have to be one of the best music club sites I have seen. Excellent photos and write ups

There is an urban legend which claims that Charlie Chaplin entered one of the many Chaplin look-alike contests and lost. It is retold in the musical Chaplin.

Richard that is a good song and I like its title "Prelude To Solitude".  The Waneroo Club is that a regular place where you play??

I just looked Hank up on the internet and it said he has lived in Perth since 1986. According to an article I just read when he is out door knocking with the Jehovah Witnesses people have told him he looks a lot like Hank Marvin.
