Two versions of the same song approached from very different angles. Both great . TIG your ability to write thought provoking lyrics is incredible.

Beamer, just leave it how it is, it sounds great. I particularly like the bass line, gets the old feet tapping

Wow I thought I'd spend a few minutes with this and ended up listening right through. As a musical it has to be up there with the best of them. The darker side reminds me a little of Tommy, that can't be a bad comparison.  On a lighter note. I see Fat Mike mentions The Rocky Horror Show. Love it, the missus and I have seen it many times. I refuse to wear stockings and suspenders, but we make a pretty good Riff Raff and Magenta.

I often just have a scroll around YT just to pick up a few tips here and there, but I haven't found one that focuses on singing and playing, although I guess thats partly because I haven't looked.
One site I particularly like is guitarnick.com, although this isn't on YT. A great site for anyone interested in finger style

I had an attempt at Junes song as I know quite a lot of NY stuff. Only problem is when I played it back , I realise I have the type of voice that would send a glass eye to sleep. Has anyone got any spare helium?

Never heard of John Butler, but what a player, great co ordination.  How do they learn to play like that?

I saw Motorhead a few years ago when they headlined a Rock and Blues fest near here. I'm not sure who was more drunk, the audience or the band. The whole set just sounded like Ace of Spades,  This ia a great find, may be worth having a go. Beamer, thanks for posting

Hi ctech. Please let me say again, I think the lyrics are great. Sorry it has to be about a bad experience.  I don't want to be seen to be interfering with your song but as I was playing it through this is what I found. Please remember, I am no songwriter or guitarist.
In the verses you play Am  F. I found Am  G added more emotion.
I added another line to the end of the first verse (D) what the hell am I supposed to do (Am)
Second verse, (D) should I get down on my knees and pray (Am)
I finished in Am rather than finish the verse in F and start the chorus with the same chord.
Their were a few other changes but perhaps to slight to mention.
Thank you for posting,

I played this through several times and made a few chord changes, but that's just to suit my style of playing.  I think the lyrics are great, I just hope you're not writing from experience.

Thats just not fair, making it look so easy.  They could have at least stuck a few bum notes in there just to make me feel better. Nice one TF

Some amazing guitar work,  loved it. And the dog looks pretty cool

That's right TF, and I'm pretty certain this is the same guy. He went on to have a great career after The Monkees as a C&W artist. One of his numbers I particularly liked to play was Different Drum, that went on to become a huge success for Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponys

It's a great song, no doubt about that. You pair work very well together. Looking forward to watching the vid.

Just a silly tune
from a strummer boy named Bill
and anyone who knows me
knows how much I love you
and that I always will.

Sorry Bill I'm on my lunch break at work and this just popped into my head.

I remember many years ago walking into my local record store and asking for, Some of Shelly's Blues by the NGDB. The shop owner refused to believe such a record or even the band existed. Eventually I persuaded him to order it for me. I did get the record although I'm not sure if it ever made the charts over this side of the pond. Incidentally,  I was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar, and still enjoy having a strum along to it today.
Nice one Bill

How odd. I never saw anything like that before. Passionflower is just amazing,  I thought us men couldn't multi task, but here we got a bloke playing percussion, singing, playing guitar and tuning all at the same time. I wish I could do one of those things properly.

I just played it through on my guitar a couple of times before I heard your version on soundcloud. I played it faster. Between verses where you play C Em Am G, I found myself just naturally slipping a F between Am & G.
TIG please do not bring yourself down about your voice and guitar skills. Your voice is unique and your guitar compliments your voice and writing perfectly
Give yourself that well deserved pat on the back TIG.

Happy birthday Roger. If I'd known you were in Nottingham I'd have dropped by to say hello.
