Roscoe Jones taught Hank Sr. the A chord and how to yodel (chordiestock folks will get that joke).

I don't know how i missed his post - but I just listened to all of the links and they are all fantastic. Thanks Amy!

Gained a ton of respect for Hornsby after seeing that, really enjoyed it. And I was dreading clicking it at first thinking it might be Springsteen smile

I just found out that our old friend Dennis Grey, AKA Tubatooter passed away today. I'll never forget his kindness and the time he traveled all the way from Alabama to my place in  NC for a weekend jam. A veteran beach bar performer, he played guitar and tuba and can be heard on many of John Reno's CD's. Beyond his talents, he was a genuine great guy offering tips, encouragement and a lifetime of stories worth a belly laugh every time. I admired that old man like few others - he knew how to enjoy life. RIP toots - the earth lost a good-un today. Luck me, I've got one of his CD's and will be playing that regularly in the coming days

Bumping this post as we are only a month away now. Dirty Ed messaged me and asked if it is still on - MOST DEFINITELY. I am looking forward to making it the best chordiestock yet!  If any chordians have firmed up plans, please let me know either by private message or posting here. Have had several requests for floor / tent space so the house is filling up, but there are plenty of hotel options in the area.

Going to see JP in Clearwater tomorrow with a few friends. One of my musical hero's and a legendary songwriter. I'll report after the show!

Only 2 Months away now, time to start firming up the guest list. Here's what I've got so far for musicians - of course there will be family, friends, dancers and drinkers as well. Every year has been better than the past. A good time is guaranteed! Would love to see more names added to the "confirmed" list!!

Confirmed Chordians: Me, Zurf, Topdawgz, Dirty Ed, Southpaw41L
Confirmed Locals or other non-chordie folks: Cowboy, Wyatt, Bee, Roger, BlackRob, Paddy, Pepper, The Steve, Roscoe, Jeremy, Jeff G, David

Maybe Chordians: Wlbaye, BGD, ROCKEY97, Garuchi, UJB, Strummerboy, normtheguitar, and Super Guest Star - Mr. Admin himself.... PER!
Maybe others: Chic, Rick, Sergio, Kevin, Mario, Shawn, Natalie, many others

I fly pretty regularly - about every other week. I am also in the habit of carrying a pocket knife regularly - like pretty much every day. A small pin knife - much better for cleaning fingernails and opening the occasional package than it is for harming another human being. About once or twice a year, I find myself at airport security and realize that these 2 activities do not go together. This is done strictly out of habit - I would never try to smuggle a knife onto a plane.  I have attempted a time or 2 to sneak this little knife into my carry-on - been busted every time. Now I just throw it into the rubbish bin and when I reach my destination, I order a new one on Amazon so it is in my mailbox when I get home.

While I appreciate the need for the TSA, I don't believe there is a single larger waste of funds or loss of productive time caused by any other government agency, including the DMV. It is absolutely ridiculous

I found it interesting that the Bucks, while continuing to suck, were in contention for their division right up until week 16 ( I think ), with a rookie QB still fired Lovie Smith yesterday.

The firing of Lovie was a shock here in Tampa as well. Most pundits were calling for giving him at least another year. Speculation is that there has been interest from other teams in hiring our OC, Dirk Koetter as a head coach. Dirk is an awesome coach, and has had much to do with the progress of Jameis - Koetter is first in line for the HC position - if that is the case, I fully support the change. Lovie is supposedly a defensive guru and while we improved our record, our defense was still ranked 26th in terms of scoring. Pass defense was especially pathetic. Penalties are another huge issue - Tampa was 31st in penalties - week after week, Lovie's only response was "we are going to fix that". That lack of discipline falls directly on the head coach.

*  The Jameis Winston Marcus Mariota Flying Circus.  Neither team is going to be any good, but Mariota will be a better NFL QB if his offensive line doesn't get him killed, ala Jake Locker.  Winston is a head case, and will either be Jeff George or Ryan Leaf, depending on if he has his impulse control problems solved or not.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and have been hearing about Jameis non-stop for over a year now. While I agree, he did some bone-headed things in college and I was extremely skeptical about drafting him, since he has become a buc, he has said and done everything that could be asked. All reports and early training camp buzz has been extremely positive.

Training camp buzz is what the media reports on in order to sell more dish soap.   I look at his behavior when Oregon was kicking the snot out of him.  He had a meltdown and didn't look like a guy that I'd want under center under pressure.   If Oregon's (admittedly under rated) defensive front can elicit that kind of response out of him, I can't help but wonder what he's going to do when JJ Watt and Charles Johnson are up under his grill all night.

He is an incredible athlete, a gym rat and great student.

All of this is true.

He is a natural leader and exudes charisma.

All of this is not true.  He is not a great leader.  He is quite the opposite.  He is immature, has impulse control issues, and has been generally unaccountable for his actions, and protected from their repercussions by his academic institution.

While 1 stupid move could wipe out all of the positives, so far, so good.

That would be after the long string of stupid moves he's made in the past?   The list of leopards that change their spots at this point in their life is pretty small.   Chris Carter is the only guy I can think of that's managed to do that.

So while the bucs season was nothing to get excited about, Jameis' performance certainly was. He kept his nose clean, was a model citizen and has become the leader of this team. He had the 3rd best all-time season as a rookie QB in terms of yardage (behind Luck and Newton) and threw less INTs than the both of them. I'd say the Bucs have found their franchise QB.
