Just realised something: these lyrics are in a similar style to Less Than Jake.
Have a look for "Look What Happened", "Hell Looks a Lot Like LA", "Scott Farcas Takes It on the Chin" and "Al's War".

How about a basic chord progression (I IV V or something like that) but power chords instead? They sound great on an acoustic.

Play this on an acoustic and you'll see what I mean about the sound.

Reggae and Ska use the same chords.
What you do is you strum the three/four highest strings in a barre chord.

I bought a set of Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky strings for one of my guitars, they won't fit into the grooves in the nut.
If you've got an Electric try Ernie Ball Regular Slinky or Super Slinky.

Two ways:

Either plug the guitar into a chromatic tuner and see what it says it is.

Use the name of the Root, which in this case would be the note played on the 6th string.

If either of these are wrong feel free to correct me.

No problem, and thanks for the tip about removing the nut. I'll have to remember that.

I found it a while back, when I was finding out how much it would cost to build my own guitar.
He's a few more links:

And the only place I have found Tusq parts:

Lets see if you can use this, it's the title of a song from "Liberation Transmission" by Lostprophets:

Can't catch tomorrow (good shoes won't save you this time)

The latest craze seems to be making song titles out of phrases!

If you like Filibuster you should like Less Than Jake. Sort of Ska-Punk or Ska-Rock. There's an intro to the 2nd song on "Hello Rockview" based on a Motley Crue song.

Try this one:

Don't be fooled by the .com, they are in the UK.

Check this out:

They're a band called Filibuster. The song is "Sutter's Fort"from the album "Deadly HiFi". If you like this style I can find a few more bands.

Try "Angel Interceptor" and "There's a Star" by Ash.

Hello I have a very good friend who is a luthier....

I know that he would be more than happy to answer any of your questions.
He is a complete star.

And if he can't help you, he'll know some one who can, also check out myspace, have met lots of amazing Luthiers there !

Where does he live? I'm near Porthmadog, Gywnedd.

Also, I'd get rid of the email address if I were you. People are spamming the forums and they might find it.

Thanks for the input, and keep the ideas coming!

If you can make a decent LP-ish guitar and coil-tap the humbuckers that should sell. Or a strat with 3 coil-tapped SD strat-sized humbuckers. Those are the kind of things I'll do when I can finally make my own guitars.

Don't forget PRS and Ibanez, possibly Fernandes for variants to Gibson/Fender high priced guitars for the back wall.

I was a bit worried by that as well, but I think the admins would have deleted the link if it included a virus.

umarboy,
Go to a music store and grab a guitar and plug it into each of the different amps and judge them for yourself. Use only one guitar.

I didn't know you could do that. They actually let you test the guitars?

Try Green Day ("American Idiot" and "International Superhits!" albums) and Less Than Jake ("Hello Rockview" and "Borders & Boundaries").
Try Filibuster as well if you like Ska.

A couple more:

Foo Fighters
Queens of the Stone Age

Check out the videos on this website:

www.wesleyguitars.co.uk

That should explain the difference between humbucker and single coil.

The guitars I would have:

Gibson Firebird
Fender Jaguar
Coil-tapped Fender Jazzmaster

Well, you were both wrong.
I fixed it yesterday, the problem was the inside and back of the jack was covered in rust! No loose wires anywhere. Scraped the rust off and it works fine.

But the rust did not allow the jack to be grounded so the common cause of buzzing is a loose wire. In your case the rust did not allow the ground to make contact in essence working the same as a loose wire. Still not grounded correctly. Your problem was still diganosed by two persons correctly, which in itself tells you something since we did not have the guitar in front of us. We worked of the post that you wrote and you did not get a bill.

Bootlegger.

I wasn't complaining, I just wanted to make sure that people know that this can cause problems. Rust isn't mentioned in any of the fixes in my guitar books. I apologise, I should have worded it better.

Thanks for the advice as well.

Since this is still about guitar-making, how much does it cost to make a guitar? I know that's a "how long is a piece of string" question, but can someone give me a rough estimate?

Does it look like a Les Paul? Cause I've seen a Suzuki LP copy before.

Well, it wasn't a loose wire after all.
