Well I have to reply to my fans.Thanks for your support, I guess nobody likes political statments here.  But I knew when I wrote this there might be a problem with my ideas. It seems that we dont hear our real voices.. Silver Lena and Russel thank you for kind words.. Maybe I don't play this game right.......I really think that this in of itself is the problem we face..Good life to you all

Well, my fellow Americans, what can I say about this one?  I hear this all the time out here. You're either going to be offended or uplifted, which is my intention. I find this a very lamenting, patriotic song that might make us wake up to what is happening to our country. This one woke me early one morning. And has been a challenge as I searched my soul for what I really believe. And the first draft was much more hostile as some could attest. THESE THINGS NEED TO BE SAID NOT HARBORED

I like to use a bass line walk down from the G to the Em in the second verse but it doesn't work all the time. Fancy it up any way you like. Hope y'all enjoy.  marcalan

Our Ladyby M. McVicker 2008

[G]On this pier I step[D] ashore;

with my[C] wits and not much more.

[G]Among this crowd, [Em]I’m pushed along;

[Am]Many faces, foreign [D]tongues.

[C]I saw the lady as we sailed to [D]sea,

[G]I thought her light not as bright, as it [Em]used to be.

[C]And as the fog swept her [D]breast,

[C]disappointment filled my [D]chest,

as we [C]steamed [D]from Ellis [G]Island.

Oh [Bm]those that came and [Am]we that leave.

Sure we [Bm]all know [Am]what we grieve.

All the [C]greatness at such a [D]cost;

as I [C]remember, the [D]ghosts, of Ellis [G]Island.

[G]And the thousands that came to [D]die for her

[C]the land, their blood, [G]inters.

[G]The pride of many, [Em]the hopes of all;

as we [Am]watch our loved ones fall.

[G]She was there when we left the [D]yard.

Her eyes were [C]closed, not to [G]see.

[G]With the book held, in [Em]high regard.

She [Am]almost, took the breath from [D]me.

[C]Now with hope, I stand on another [D]stage.

Ancestral [G]land I have [Em]engaged.

With so [Am]many who leave in [D]disgust;

the [C]land given in[D]trust

to [C]those who would [D]stain her [G]page

Oh those [C]that came and we that [D]leave.

Sure we [G]all know for those we [Em]grieve.

Their [Am]lives were lost, for which we [D]stand.

And it is [C]we, who became, the [D]ghosts, of Ellis [G]Island.

Further clarification is in order.  the E6 is played at the second fret b string andD string and the F#sus chord is played like a Bm without the barr but with the high E played with the index.  ok here you are if anyone cares my ameture effort of showing how to play this have fun  I make mistakes great fun

Whew, that was gruling.  I hope I did this right. Chording on this tune is modified. The G chord is played in a second position up the neck in a C type position  Third fret B string,4th fret G string,5th fret D string.  The add 9 is that same form with pinky on E string 5th fret. I'm sure there will be questions or maybe not. I hope you all enjoy this. This is my story and the story of someone very dear to me. Thanks for your patience.  marcalan

[D]She went on her[G] way,

[D]and try as she[G] may,

[D]she couldn’t[G#add9]hold the[A6] tears from her[D] face.

[D]She held her hands[G] tight,

[D]and with all of her[G] might,

[D]found her[G#add9]way to her[A6] most cherished[D] place.

[F#sus4#5]One day I’ll find[G] some peace of mind

[F#sus4#5]and one day perhaps someone to[G] love.

[F#sus4#5]Its all that I know.

[G]Some sign to show[Em] me the loved one I’ll[E6] find.

[D]So back to her[G] life,

[D]she smiles at her[G] strife,

[D]and[G#add9] loves the[A6] family she[D] knows.

[D]Flowers of[G] love.

[D]Ordained from[G] above.

[D]Creative [G#add9] hands which the[A6] Master[D] chose.

[D]Hollow in[G] heart.

[D]A man torn all[G] apart;

[D]dredging[G#add9] from[A6]day to[D] day.

[D]In his mind from time to[G] time.

[D]Another woman? Life[G] sublime?

[D]Wondering[G#add9] what on[A6] earth it would[D] take.

[F#sus4#5]One day I’ll find[G] some peace of mind,

[F#sus4#5]and one day perhaps someone to[G] love.

[F#sus4#5]Its all that I know,

[G]some sign to show[Em]me the loved one I’ll[E6] find.

[D]In the world that is[G] unseen.

[D]There is He that would[G] glean,

[D]the love energy[G#add9] that these[A6] two souls[D] share.

[D]With mysterious[G] ways,

[D]with a wave of His hand He[G] says,

[D]“These two,[G#add9] for each[A6] other, will[D] care .

[F#sus4#5]And from this day they’ll find

[G]their peace of mind.

[F#sus4#5]This will be all that they[G] know.

[F#sus4#5]And their sign shall be,

[G]directly from me.

[Em]Together they will[E6] let their love[D] show .

One day I’ll find
You at my sleeve.
Poking fun at my sleepy face
and wanting to dance

I’ll say ,† Enoughâ€
You’ll say; you ain’t tough
And I’ll smile at you

We’ll hold on
To each other and laugh
In the kitchen we’ll waltz

Tennessee Waltz? Remember me?
I can’t see.
Life, before I knew  your name.

Passing in the Night                                           m. mcvicker      2007

In the past few days, as I head out to sea,
I’ve noticed this reoccurring event.
My hands on the keel, keeping mind of what’s real,
how the sea shoves without relent.

The early morning hours,
fog and light showers my eyes, not as young as they were.
I took up my glass, leeward of the mast;
to glimpse, a fine clipper.

I turned to look again,
I felt my head spin,
cleared my eyes,
to see her grace upon the sea.
What I saw was a vision,
beyond my imagination, only to disappear.
Far beyond the sighting of me.

Over and over, I must be mad.
These illusions I’ve had
to seek the visions and chase the unknown.

I’ll hail her next morn
when my crew is well worn.
To find who is on board.
Who lies within?
Who lies within
If I find her, again,
I’ll……………..
