bensonp wrote:I agree with the B chord, but I use the cheater chord with two fingers the same as I use the cheater for Bb, just up one more fret. They sound OK to me. Maybe not the best sounding, but good enough for me.
My teacher is showing me a few cheats as well. As long as they sound good, thats what matters.
Quid pro quo, hic ad hic,

Yeah. Told most of 'em, too. The program I want into is a dual masters. JD (law) along with a Masters in International Business. It's really the MIB that is the key to all the doors. The JD just keeps people honest. I have no desire to litigate, so I'll probably never take the Bar exam.
Sounds like a better plan than jumping thru hoops to go to a "good" law school or whatever society "holds dear." The MIB will rely on diplomacy and musical skills will play a big part in that. Music is certainly an international language that has no boundaries.
I always felt bad about my voice and always used to tell my guitar teacher that I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. When I sang in the shower, the soap would get out of the dish and walk away and the towel would hang itself in despair. Then I decided to take singing lessons with my guitar teacher partner, Beverly, and it has been money well spent. I CAN SING, my inner 5 year old is ecstatic AND I even managed to hit the High notes in the tune "Wimoweh" (the lion sleeps tonight) effortlessly and with full volume. Just about at Pete Seeger's range. I'm having fun and loving music even more.
So all I can say is, if you want to sing, SING and enjoy the feeling, it's been liberating!
Bottom line......if it sounds to good to be true............it is.
Registered Nurse and full time dad and househusband. Wife is a pharmacist and makes way more cash and better benefits than I could if we relied on my income. My daughter is a senior in high school, so my sabbatical from nursing will as end soon as she goes to college.
I would say B any chord, but, my teacher is pushing them and I am getting a tad better. However, I'm with Zurf on F#m, it is hard and I can do without it. THough one of my favorite Jim Croce songs has it. Oy I muddle thru. My biggest challenge is a rapid transition from G to F and back to G on the traditional folk tune "Ground Hog." Then my fret hand develops major spasms and it's all I can do to keep up with the rest of the String Band class. OY
Now if there was only something I could do about the "Brain Worms" that I get whenever we play this and certain other folk tunes for long durations.
Brain Worms......the song that gets stuck in your head and you can't get it out!!
I found a vinyl album of theirs at the dump a few years ago, and it was quite a treasure!
Sounds familiar! You could be right!
I think that song goes back even further! Though my brain draws a blank as to who did it originally!
As for Randy Travis.........I so love his song, "Better class of losers." <grin>

Here is the 1957 Marty Robbins song that inspired that album title: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn95U2a6 … re=related

Spike Jones, a madman genius if ever there was one! <grin>
Age is a state of mind, music keeps the mind young. A little Gene Chandler sounds good!

Nice to see that Chad and Jeremy are still out there and playing. <bliss>
I also checked out The Seekers with Judith Durham, WOW.

Could anybody dig up some Chad and Jeremy (Summer Song or Yesterday's Gone) or Spanky and Our Gang or even the Zombies.
I would be extremely GRATEFUL!
