Re: Songs for teenage girls to learn (19 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Avril has loads of songs that sound great on acoustic.
Then there's the whole Disney thing with Hannah Montanna and The Jonas Bros. When I think of the songs I've attempted to play because my daughter was listening to them it makes me shudder.

Re: Song Request Search (29 replies, posted in Song requests)
Hi Pastor Laurence, welcome to the forum. I guess you've noticed that I moved your topic. Just a bit of house-keeping. I felt that it belonged more in the song request section.
As you can see already we are a helpful bunch here. Glad you've found the forum helpful and welcoming.
Now, I'm off to check out this song of yours and see if I can figure something out. I'll hopefully be in touch.
Cheers,
Al V

I think some areas are worse than others. As well as a bit of natural selection. Kinda makes sense to make sure 1st class and parcels get through but slog away at the junk-mail.

Aye, blame me!
How's about Spinning Around by Kylie Minogue. Or Patience by Take That. Or About You Now by The Sugababes.
Another I like to do is The Muttonheid Wearies by Ian Davison; good for drunken parties.

Hi, Cam, both parties are in talks (again) but more strikes are planned for Friday and Monday. Hopefully it will be resolved before this.

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs. (41 replies, posted in Acoustic)
May be better asking this in the recording section. I'd like to know the answer too. I usually just use my digital camera but there's got to be a better option, sound-wise.

Two of my favourites on the 1 stage, SP. And the kid! Makes you wonder why you bother. Campfire for me, and loving it.

Re: Electro Acoustic advice.. (13 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hey Joe,
How do you like your Yamaha? I got a Yamaha APX500 electro-acoustic just over 2 years ago and have fallen deeply in love with it. Lovely sound and nice easy action. Lightyears ahead of the Fender I used to have.
Long time users of the forum are now fleeing in droves - O here he goes again, he's always bleatin on about his Yamaha - Only cos it's a fantastic guitar for 200 quid.
What I will say is - make sure you try before you buy, whatever you go for. And for you're price range I'd stay away from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. Guitars on show are in a shocking state, unless you're spending in the region of £1000, in which case you get all the special treatment.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum. And yes, there is a search facility

Re: can someone post this? i dont know how (16 replies, posted in About Chordie)
so how do songs get posted then?
They don't. Chordie does not host songs. No songs are posted on chordie. Chordie works like a search engine and finds songs on OTHER SITES and then displays them in a new format.

Re: how can i add a new song on chordie ? (8 replies, posted in About Chordie)
You will need to post your songs to another website. There are loads of tab and chord sites as I'm sure you know. Once you've added them, and they are shown on that website, take a note of the URL. Then come back to chordie and click the resourses tab. From there there is an option to add songs to the index. Add the URL of the webpage your song is on to the box and click submit. It may take a while before they become available on chordie.
As Russell says Chordie does not host ANY songs but searches for them from other sites and displays them in an easy-to-read format.
Good luck.

Re: What brand and thickness picks do you use? (32 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I use one called a Wedgie, 60mm. They have a very slight hollow for your thumb so that they are easier to grip. Works for me. It's hard to describe so here's a photo...

Re: Back in the fold (4 replies, posted in About Chordie)
Good on you, Tony. There are loads of us here that've come bck to it after a long break. I'm finding it so much easier than it was 1st time round to learn songs. The internet and digital music make it so much easier. I'd never heard of tab eaither, but it's a lot easier than music notation (I think).
Welcome aboard. Family gatherings will never be the same again.

Re: Sex Pistols (7 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Can't believe we're talking about the quality of playing on a sex pistols record. Surely the whole point of punk was that YOU could do it, I could do it. ANYONE could do it! The music scene at the time had been bogged down with tha same old people doing the same old things and saying nothing in the process. And then along came punk and said - hold on, I can do that, I have something to say; you have something to say? then get out and say it.
Got to agree about the butter adverts though. But then, John always does exactly what he wants.

I suppose not if you're going to get that picky about it. But musicians from USA, Canada, Scotland, England and Ireland is pretty transatlantic in my book. I could watch this kinda thing for hours on end.

Topic: Transatlantic Sessions (3 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I don't know if anyone in the UK has caught any of this on the good ole BBC. A group of musicians from both sides of the Atlantic (a different group each week) get together and see what comes out. The result is usually quite beautiful. Here's a link to the latest helping; have a look. It's about 30mins long but I think it's well worth a look and listen.
