cytania,
great idea. I will start shopping round and leaving ideas for my wife then she can still suprise me.
I could also let her go to the shop nearer the time with my father in law as I trust his judgement.

Na, the shopping thing is good. I will take pics , print them out and write what shop they are from.

I decided a while ago I was wanting a semi acoustic ibanez guitar after trying one out in the shop.
I decided I needed one for when the few times I am in a pub I can just plug in and play instead of using someone elses musical tool. My wife think I should just use anyones guitar that will allow it but I feel awkard with that.

So about 8 months ago I tried this guitar and I loved the sound, loved the look and thought I must have.
Yesterday when my wife woke up in the afternoon after a nightshift sleep I told her i was going into Clydebank to buy one and pay it up interest free. She was a bit shocked when I told her it was going to be about £349.
She tried her best to talk me out of it but to no avail. She even told me that she was going to surprise me for my 40th with a guitar. I told her never to do that as it is a personal thing and she should not go out and listen to someone in a shop saying how great a guitar is and she comes home with it for me t othink how I hate it because I never chose it, I never tried it out for size, sound, comfort, action etc.

well she did try her hardest but accepted I was going to go and do what I want.
We got to the shop and I saw the same guitar next to about 12 others. I went straight for it and sat on the stoll and played a few chords, picked a few notes and I felt myself gettiong sadder and sadder. It sounded duff! just not the same sound I remember months ago.
I was not going to give in there, I tried the other 11, some several times! We spent about 52 minutes in there. ( while I was strumming away my daughter and wife were playing the piano in the shop and not realising how loud it was and how folk walking by were stopping and watching, when my wife finally noticed she was getting watched she got very embarrassed and stopped)

I gave in, I never bought a guitar. I feel cheated for some reason, no idea why. I just think right now I should have a new guitar. But as the saying goes " good things come to those that wait" ,,,,well after a very long bloody wait to my 40th next Febuary this good thing ( being a very good guitar) better be a very good guitar.
I have gave in to her and said I will wait.

So a moral behind this is even though I could afford to go out and get a guitar I decided not to as I know I would not be happy later down the months and wished I had waited for the right one to come.

I would have thought is you tuned it an octave lower the tuner would not pick it up properly.

Phi,

Did you put the same gauge of strings back on it? If you have put lighter gauge strings this can sometimes cause a buzz from the nutt.
Maybe the action is too low and the E string is buzzing off a fret?
maybe at the bridge, is it sitting on the bridge properly?

Where abouts is the buzzing coming from? Does it buzz when you are holding it on a fret?

loads of possibilities

Ken

Hi Phi

I agree with ye here. I think I said this yesterday in the poems or songwirting section.

But I would say there are songs that are wrote from the heart and are fast and ye can dance and bop about to like anarchy in the UK by the sex pistols lol

Slower songs I tihnk have more heart feeling to them because they are slow and you have time to digest the lyrics into your mind.
One song that I cannot stop playing just now is " trains and my grandfather" by BRian McNeil a song about his memories as he travelled across america to visit him. It starts when he was 7 years old. 4 verses later he is 30 odd years old and his grandfather is dead.

so my top 5 for mid 80's to late

Guns'n'Roses
Poison
Motley Crue
Bon Jovi ( but not anymore since after bad med they went right down hill)
Dogs D'Amour

superb words stranSongs.

Never ever has there been words too sad to sing. Sad songs are probably the best songs out as they express feelings more than happy songs I tihnk.

hi minette

Once you learn chords ( and you will) you will find you wont need the chord chart much. I do still use it for the odd one or two.
If I can give some advice though, dont try too much at one time.
Try songs with the same chords in them i.e. songs with G,C,D, or G,C,Am etc. give yourself a wee group of chords to practice first so you can change without thinking.
It will come to you as it has done everyone else.

good luck and welcome to chordie

so they are wrong.

This is the fault of the original host not chordie's. As chordie does NOT host ANY song here chordie is NOT at fault for WRONG chords, or even correct chords lol

IF you click on the option to see where the song originated from you could go to their website and moan.

Also you might have noticed a lot of threads on the "edit button", this feature was used to correct songs or in some cases make them worse, but you could alsways revery back to the original from where chordie took it from

Hope that explains everything you ever needed to know in this big world that is full of wrong things.

Someone needs to invent the fishing guitar. It would be kind of like a guitar that you could play but the sound and vibrations would attract fish. The only thing is how would you attach a reel to it?
I'd buy one just so i could combine both my favorite hobbies.

inventions? fishing? well it would have to be a scotsman that invented this wouldnt it? salmon, inventions, scottish, reel ( as in a scottish reel as in a piece of music) combine ( as in harvester for farming)
seems to me too much connections with scotland for it to be a foreigner to invent such a device , lol
BUT if anyone outside Scotland does invent this then I would put £50 bet on that he has scottish blood somewhere in his family tree. lol

I was following this but then with going on holiday and deaths and parties I missed most of it I think.
But the U.S done very well and I still say within 10 years they will be right up there. Since they pump so much money and training into sports and they have so many folk they should really be in the top 3 just now.
But saying that the rankings is a load of nonsense. They should not include friendly games in the rankings. But they should still be really good for 2014/18 world cups and there after.

Spain won me a few bob ( a few pennies. A bob is 5pence) in the euro tournament.

I dont think Italy deserved to win anything really in the last 8 years and I am hoping for Scotland to win 2010 cup lol lol lol lol yeah im dreaming again.
