Travis has put out so many heart touching songs over the last few years,
and when I heard this song coming home from work one morning, I had to stop
and listen, I mean really listen, and to Travis, I must send a heartfelt
Thank You. This song has gotten me through some pretty tough times, and
helped me remember that I can't change my past, but I can do something about
the future. Thanks, again.
Capo at 3rd fret. Intro: A-G-C-G-A
[A-G-D-C-A]
As a[A] child I was told that I was destined to be nothing[G]
[D] Growing wild as I got olde[C]r I fulfill[G]ed what had been s[A]aid,
[A]Hiding ignorance and fear I prayed nobody sa[G]w me bluffing,
But I was layin[D]g the fo[C]undati[G]on for [A]a future I would dread,
[A]Yeah! Hmmmmm[G] [D] [C] [G] [A]
Seems l[A]ike every choice I made would somehow [G]leave me second guessing,
"Bout[D] the green grass I was passing ra[C]cing[G] tow[A]ards the other side,
I th[A]ank God for the blessing, That I finally learned this les[G]son,
One step in the right [D]direction's wo[C]rth a wasted[G] mile beh[A]ind,
(Chorus) Singing
No more [A]lookin"[G] over my shoulder, No[D] more[C] hang[G]in' ont[A]o the past,
No[A] more fillin' up my tomorrows, with yesterday'[G]s sorrows,[D]
A N/c A G
No More Looking Over My Shoulder.
I[A] could chill a room with reasons why I[G] would not give forgiveness,
To[D] the people who had selfi[C]shly lef[G]t me [D]a wounded soul,
I [A]kept dragging 'rounds those memories, like [G]a ball and chain behind me,
W[D]onderin' why my troubles [C]follo[G]ewd me wherever I w[D]ould go,
[A]Oh, but one night, sick and tired of bein' sic[G]k and tired,
I [D]realized forgiveness was the on[C]ly o[G]pen road,[A]
I swe[A]ar I heard those shackles snap, the moment that I took that [G]path,
I ne[D]ver have one time looked back, since t[C]he mo[G]rnin[A]g I arose,
Repeat Chorus.
No [A]More lookin' over my shoulder, no more hangin' on to the past,
No more fillin' up my tomorrow's, with yesterdays sorrow
No More, No more. No, No No More
Repeat Chorus,
