Strange Charm Hank Green
This song is not too difficult to learn to play (the lyrics are a bit tricky, but it's a
DARN good song!) I hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions, you can email me at
lsohfan@gmail.com and I plan on posting a video lesson soon.
A [C]quark is a fundamental const[C]ituent of [F]matter
Ob[G]served in 1968 through [F]deep elastic [C]scatter.
We [C]found that protons aren't as [C]simple as we [F]thought.
We thought [G]they were solid particles but[F] they are [C]not.
Pro[C]tons in fact are made up of [C]three separate [F]pieces.
It [G]just gets more confusing as our [F]knowledge [C]increases.
But [C]that is what a quark is; It's a [C]piece of a [F]proton,
And they [G]also make up other things [F]including the [C]neutron.
Oh, [C]up, down, strange, charm[C], top, [F]bottom
If you [G]don't know what a quark is, it don't [F]matter you still [C]got 'em.
And with [C]leptons and bosons, [C]unless something's [F]amiss,
They make up [G]everything that we can see and [F]that we know [C]exists.
[C]Things made up of quarks including [C]protons and neu[F]trons
[G]Are composite particles that [F]physicists call [C]hadrons.
[C]Many types of hadrons are theo[C]retically de[F]scribed,
But [G]most exist for only very [F]brief amounts of [C]time.
[C]Quarks have electric charge, color [C]charge, mass and [F]spin,
And [G]having color charge means they [F]exist solely [C]inside of
[C]Other kinds of particles and [C]cannot exist [F]alone.
Which is [G]why quarks have never been studied[F] on their [C]own.
[C]Up, down, strange, charm[C], top, [F]bottom
If you [G]don't know what a quark is, it don't [F]matter you still [C]got 'em.
And with [C]leptons and bosons, [C]unless something's [F]amiss,
They make up [G]everything that we can see and [F]that we know [C]exists.
[C]Quarks can join together in two[C] different [F]ways,
[G]Baryons and Mesons, but most [F]instantly [C]decay.
If a [C]particle has three quarks, then it'[C]s a bary[F]on,
If there's [G]one quark and and anti-quark, then [F]it is a mes[C]on.
These [C]tiny bits of matter are a part of [C]almost every[F]thing
And there [G]is no unified theory to [F]make it less con[C]fusing.
But the [C]fact that we've identified that [C]they exist at [F]all
Is [G]so god damn remarkable that [F]I just sit in [C]awe.
I hope you enjoyed!

Trey
