Downbound Train Bruce Springsteen
ok, here's another great bad luck brooder by the Boss...
i've heard it covered by both the smithereens & by raoul malo
(the mavericks) on the "nebraska" tribute album, but i think
i like raoul malo's version best (i love his voice.)
anyway the rhythm, etc. is typical springsteen stuff,
simple yet effective.
comments, improvments, donations are welcome.

DOWNBOUND TRAIN
-Bruce Springsteen
[Em] [G] [D]
[Em]I had a job, I had a [G]girl
I had something g[D]oing mister in this world
I got laid [Em]off down at the lumber [G]yard
Our love went [D]bad, times got hard
Now I [C]work down at the [D]carwash
Where all it ever does is [Em]rain
Don't you f[C]eel like you're a r[D]ider on a downbound t[Em]rain[G] [D]
( Tab from: http://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/b/bruce_springsteen/downbound_train_crd.html )
She just said "J[Em]oe I gotta [G]go
We had it o[D]nce we ain't got it any more"
She packed her [Em]bags left me be[G]hind
She bought a t[D]icket on the Central Line
Nights as I [C]sleep, I hear that w[D]histle whining
I feel her kiss in the misty [Em]rain
And I [C]feel like I'm a [D]rider on a downbound [Em]train[G] [D]
[Em] [G] [D]
Last [Em]night I heard your v[G]oice
You were crying, [D]crying, you were so alone
You said your l[Em]ove had never [G]died
You were [D]waiting for me at home
Put on my j[Em]acket, I ran through the [G]woods
I ran till I t[D]hought my chest would explode
There in the c[Em]learing, beyond the [G]highway
In the m[D]oonlight, our wedding house shone
I rushed through the [Em]yard, I burst through the f[G]ront door
My head pounding [D]hard, upstairs I climbed
The room was d[Em]ark, our bed was [G]empty
Then I h[D]eard that long whistle whine
And I drop[C]ped to my knees, hung my head and c[G]ried
Now I s[C]wing a hammer on a [D]road gang
Knocking down them cross ties, working in the [Em]rain
Now don't it [C]feel like you're a [D]rider on a downbound [Em]train[G] [D] [Em] [G] [D]
Em G D .......
(there ya go....)
