Have Love Will Travel Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
One of the better songs on "The Last DJ." I don't have any of the soloing, but the bulk
the song is here. And the chord placements will match the timing with the lyrics, which
is always nice, I think.
A quick word on the four chord progression that is played right before and during the
bridge -- you can play it as open chords, but I like to play it like this:
e---3/5--5/7--7--5---| B---5/7--7/8--8--7---| G---5/7--7/9--9--7---| D---5/7--7/9--9--7---| A---3/5--5/7--7--5---| E--------------------|
It just sounds more like the recording to me, especially with the slides. Also, you can
mess around by picking the verse chords a bit. The most frequent example of this in the song
sounds something like this:
[G] [D] [Em] [C]
e-------3-------2-------0-------0----| B-------3-------3-------0-------1----| G-------0-------2-------0-------0----| D-------0-----0---------2-----2------| A-----2---------------2-----3--------| E---3-------2-------0----------------|
You can kind of make up your own stuff though, or just play the chords. It all sounds good.
Here's the full song.
