Carolina in My Mind James Taylor
Hey everybody, this is my homage to James Taylor.
I always look tabs up here and out of respect to the
community here for helping me learn so much, I
thought I'd contribute one for a change! I think
I've more or less nailed the song the way he does it,
basically you need to emphasize the bass melodies.
Of course there is an amazing descending bass line in
the chorus. The third verse has one chord variation/substituion
that is a bit tricky at first (a chord for every eighth note) but if
you spend a little time on it you can get it easily. The bridge
has a couple weird chords at the very end that I've tabbed
out at the bottom.
Also, almost everywhere that you see A Asus2, or D Dsus2,
he's doing this little hammer/pull thing with the chord. That
one you can do by feel/style, etc, the other tabs will show you
that more specifically as well. He plays it with his fingers, I play
it with a pick, it's really up to you. It's capo on 2nd fret, although
I've seen him play it with capo on the 3rd fret, and I prefer that
sound so that's how I do it. Please note that the chords are relative
to the capo (i.e. they relate to the chord's SHAPE, and not what it
would actually be, say, on a piano, bass, etc.) Transpose it up 3 frets
if you want the 'real' chord names! Trying to denote bars the best I
can. If you have questions/comments, please get in touch and like
