--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guitar 1 played by Billie Joe Armstrong Guitar 2 pre recorded by Billie Guitar 3 pre recorded by Billie --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guitar 1 ?clean but in distortion channel, mid distortion/gain/drive, slight reverb, and generally a crisp ?good? sound Guitar 2 ?same as guitar 1 for playing the intro, verse, chorus etc. but with a cleaner more reverbed tone set up on your amps 2nd channel hooked up to a foot selector switch for quick swapping being able ?as the bridge requires this Guitar 3 ?same as guitar 2, but there is no need for the clean reverb sounds being set up on a different channel ?just set it up on your standard channel as guitar 3 is nly played during the bridge. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes Effects: guitar 3 needs a vibrato effect unit or a multi effect unit that can create a similar buzzing and humming sounds for the bridge section. and for guitars two and three you could have a chorus pedal (set with required skill to make it sound like the bridge) or more easily have a reverb or echo pedal ?which should be ?jumped on? for the bridge and switch off as it goes back into the verse. But alternatively to that as I have said you could just set up a second channel on your amp to sound echo-ish and cleaner ?but not to clean. Bass: bass is a little more difficult that Green Day?s typical songs, it is a basic line of root notes of the guitar chords but occasionally played is a note or two which is in the scale ?and also within the equal guitar chord of which guitar is playing, I am very sure that there is a correct tab for the bass of welcome to paradise ?if you should require one just ask me and il tab one for ya. ?its not to difficult but if you?re a beginner, you?ll be working harder on this. just listen for the higher and lower notes on bass throughout the song. Also in the song appears bass chords, these are what they are! Their chords on bass! If played right (with required pressure on each fret etc) it sounds amazing but if played incorrectly it doesn?t create a good sound at all, so try to get them right bassists! Sounds: there are some difficult chord variations throughout this Green Day and 90?s classic, but all can be achieved easily and make you look good! The girls love this one! Lol! But an often overlooked technique in this song is the appearance of a fretting hand string mute in the verse and intro etc between the chords ?I have tabbed EXACTLY how I play this and if you palsy the fretting hand string mutes as I play them, which is order, timing, quantity and accents it will sound like the real thing. Additional: during the interlude to get that ?beautiful? ringing out feedback sound that Billie achieves, firstly turn off you feedback buster if you have one, then get close to your amp stack and play your guitar very close to the amp (basically do what they tell you not to do when it comes to stage performing!!) and add vibrato to every note ?that gets a good sound without the aid of harmonics and any kind of effect! ?its old skool Billie!! 2nd additional: guitars one and two are pretty much doubled apart from the intro and interlude/bridge, very simple song basis but a good semi difficult one. Lyrics and singing: difficult one to sing and play along with but it can be picked up ?chorus especially hard.
