The Chemical Worker's Song (Process Man) Great Big Sea
One of my favourite Great Big Sea songs. Its apparently written by a folk singer named Ron Angel,
but I've never found any version other than this one. On record, GBS sings it a cappella, but I
decided to figure out chords for playing it on the guitar. I'm fairly certain
this song's in F minor, so
the easiest way to play it is to capo on the 2nd fret and play the chords in Em.
Hopefully its pretty
accurate. Cheers.
And it's [Em]go [D]boys[Em] go,
They'll [G]time your every [Em]breath,
And [G]every day you're [Em]in this place
You're t[G]wo days n[D]earer d[Em]eath
But you [Em]go
A [Em]process man am [G]I and I'm [Em]telling you no lie
I [Em]work and breathe amo[G]ng the fumes that tr[Em]ail across the sky
There's [Em]thunder all ar[D]ound me and there's p[G]oison in the [D]air
There's a [Em]lousy smell that [G]smacks of hell and d[Em]ust all [D]in me [Em]hair
Chorus
Well I work among the spinners and I breathe the oily smoke
I shoveled up the gypsum and it nigh on made you choke
I've stood knee deep in cyanide, got sick with a caustic burn
Been working rough, I've seen enough to make your stomach turn
Chorus
There's overtime and bonus opportunities galore
The young men like their money and they all come back for more
But soon you're knockin on and you look older than you should
For every bob made on the job you pay with flesh and blood
Chorus
Repeat 1st Verse
Chorus
