Children on Parade Colin Hay
Taken from the Going Somewhere album. This song is alot more complicated on the album
than just chord strumming, but its easier to just give the basic chords to work around.
If you're just want to play the chords, then its probably better to play them as open
chords rather as bar ones.
Standard tuning:
Bm - 799777 or X24432
G - 355433 or 320033
D - 10 12 12 11 10 10 10 or XX0230
C#m - 9 11 11 9 9 9 or X46654
C - 8 10 10 9 8 8 or X32010
C# - 9 11 11 10 9 9 or X43121
Verse:
[Bm]All the girls and boys have gone a[G]way
[Bm]They never really had much to s[G]ay
[Bm]They took off all their clothes and their s[G]hoes
[Bm]Politely asked to be excu[G]sed
Chorus:
D C#m C C#(strum this once on the change)
They're the children on parade
[D]They have secr[C#m]ets that they[C] share[C#]
[D]They're the ch[C#m]ildren on par[C]ade
[G]And nobody knows, nobody knows
And then back to the verse. Like I said if you listen to the album version its got alot
of slides and things on it, not just the basic chords, but they mostly work around the
bar chords so start from there. Also he doesn't play the high notes on the song, so stick
mainly to the low strings. Or just play the open chords if you'd rather. Comments welcome.
