Fine Line  Hootie & the Blowfish

Fine Line by Hootie and the Blowfish
This tune is taken from Hootie's Let Her Cry single. They've been playing it
for years (I'm sure) and I had the pleasure of seeing them perform it live at
Hardee's Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC, back in August of '95. I think the
song was written by their producer, Don Gheman (I think), and I love the
song. I'm not exactly sure on the lyrics, the strength of Darius' voice kind
of muffles his lyrics sometimes, so if the words don't make sense to you,
they may be incorrect.
INTRO: strum on G
VERSE:
There's a [G]curve in the highway, just south of town[D]
Where our m[Em]atters roll over (?), could've figured [C]I'd found (?)
With only h[G]is conscience, and a lonesome soun[D]d
And Jesus wi[C]nding up creek (?)
Got a wife a[G]nd two kids, bringing up his son ([D]?)
Got a woman [Em]down in Charleston, and she's starting[C] to show
And he's dam[G]ned if he leaves her, and he's sure damne[D]d if he don't
And he wonde[C]rs how his life got this way....
CHORUS:
Cause it's a fine li[D]ne i[G]nbetween [C]right and wrong [D]
[G] [C]
Yeah you've been crossi[D]n' over that border way too long
He should've[Em] seen it comin' at him right from the [D]start[G]
Now there ai[C]n't no escape from a broken heart[D] [G]
[C] [D] [G]
VERSE 2:
And a call [G]from the highway is a powerful thing[D]
Like a pullo[Em]ver lover, or a child in a swing[C]
And he's tal[G]kin' to her, only one way to explain[D]
And there bot[C]h gonna have his babies now
So ho[G]w do you confess what words [D]won't explain?
He n[Em]ever intended to cause this[C] much pain
And [G]I feel like a farmer who's bee[D]n prayin' for the rain
Got [C]more than he bargained from the clouds....
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE:
[Bm]He'll turn his car around tonight, go home and try [C]to face the truth
[Am]Everyone involved's[G] gettin' hurt and there ain't n[D]othing he can do
[D]no no no
(i use to know the guitar solo but I forgot how to play it and I'm too lazy
to figure it out again, but here are the chords to it in the same pattern as
the chorus)
[D] [G] [C]
[D]
[G] [C] [D]
[Em]He should've seen it comin' at him right from the [D]start [G]
[C]Now there ain't no, now there ain't no escape fro[D]m a [G]
CHORUS:
[D]Fine Lin[G]e inbetwee[C]n right and wrong[D]
[G] [C]
Yeah you've been cross[D]in' over that border way too long
[Em]He should've seen it comin' at him right from the[D] start[G]
[C] [D] [G]
Now there ain't no escape from a broken heart
[C]Now there ain't no escapin' from a broken heart[D] [G]
[C]Yeah we're all gonna wind up with a broken heart[D] [G]
(mumbling) Nobody'[C]s gettin out without a broken heart[D] [G]
[C] [D] [G]
Okay, that's the song. Maybe someday I'll come back and put in the guitar
solo, but not any time soon. If you have any questions, email is good
