Transatlanticism  Death Cab for Cutie

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
How to read this: There are three sections (A), (B), and (C). Each section has a chord progression that goes along with it. I've marked these sections within the context of the lyrics, so just switch to the right chord progression when you get to that point in the song.
SECTIONS:

 (A): A - - - C#m - - - D - - - F#m - - [E]*

(B): D - - - A - F#m E
(C):

 F#m - - - C#m - - - D - - - E - - -
 F#m - - - B - - - D - - - A - F#m E

FORM:
(A) [cbords alone] (2x)
the atlantic was born today and i'll tell you how:
the clouds above opened up and let it out.
i was standing on the surface of a perforated sphere
when the water filled every hole.
and thousands upon thousands made an ocean,
making islands where no island should go.
oh no.
(B) [instrumental] (4x)
[for guitar riff, play these notes:
B C# G#, B C# A ]
[(A)]those people were overjoyed; they took to their boats.
i thought it less like a lake and more like a moat.
the rhythm of my footsteps crossing flood lands to your door have been silenced forever more.
the distance is quite simply much too far for me to row
it seems farther than ever before
oh no.
[(B)]i need you so much closer (4x)
[(C)]i need you so much closer (4x)
(B) [cbords] (14x I think)**
[(C)]i need you so much closer (4x)
(B) [cbords] (2x)
[(B)]so come on, come on (4x)
[ambient stuff in background]***
[-----]NOTES:
* Starts off without an E here, but later on in the song, one is added.
** I've counted the number of progressions twice, and I got 14 both times, and felt wrong both times. It seems like a somewhat unnatural number (as you usually divide most duple meter music up in multiples of 4), and I really have to wonder why Ben and/or the band chose it. Still, if I was actually going to cover this song, I'd play it maybe 4 or 8 times instead of 14. Don't want my audience falling asleep!
*** If you want to imitate those ambient pad thingies in the background at the end, it sounds mostly like notes from an Amaj7 chord (A, C#, E, G#).
Also, if you don't like the way your A chord sounds at the very beginning of the song, you're probably not voicing right. The chord's voicings on the piano (from bottom up) are E A C#. As far as I can tell, all the rest of the voicings are just your standard first position triads, though.
