At the Bottom of Everything  Bright Eyes

Band: Bright Eyes
Song: At The Bottom Of Everything
Album: Im Wide Awake, Its Morning (probably the best albume ever)
Tabbed By: Luke Burba
So there was this women and she was on an airplane and
she's flying to meet her fiancé sailing high above the largest ocean
on planet earth and she was seated next to this man who you know
she had tried to start a conversation but really the only thing
she heard him say was to order his bloody mary
and she's sitting there and she's reading
this really arduous magazine article about this
third world country that she couldn't even pronounce the name of and
she's feeling very bored and very despondent
and then uh suddenly there's this huge mechanical failure and one of the engines gave out
and they started just falling thirty thousand feet and the pilots on the microphone and he's saying,
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Oh My God, I'm Sorry" and apologizing and she looks at the man and she says,
"where are we going" and he looks at her and he says, "We're going to a party, it's a birthday party.
It's your birthday party, happy birthday darling.
We love you very, very, very, very, very, very, very much."
and then he starts humming this little tune and it kind of goes like this:
One, Two, One, Two, Three, Four
Intro: C F C F C F C (listen for the rythem)
Verse:
We must [C]talk in every telephone, get [F]eaten off the [C]web
We must [C]rip out all the epilogues from the [F]books we have [G]read
And to t[C]he face of every criminal strapped [F]firmly in a chair
We must [C]stare, we must [G]stare, we must [C]stare
We must [C]take all of the medicines too [F]expensive now to [C]sell
Set fi[C]re to the preacher who is [F]promising us [G]hell
And in the[C] ear of every anarchist who [F]sleeps but doesn't dream
We must s[C]ing, we must s[G]ing, we must [C]sing "And it'll go like this"
Chorus:
W[F]hile my mother w[G]aters plants
my [C]father loads his [F]gun.
He says, "[F]Death will give us [G]back to god,
just [Ami]like the setting [F]sun
i[G]s returned to the lonesome ocean."
(Intro is played again here)
(Then during the solo, the same chord progression as the verses is played)
Verse:
We must [C]blend into the choir, sing a s[F]tatic with the w[C]hole
We must [C]memorize nine numbers and [F]deny we have a [G]soul
And to this [C]endless race for property and [F]privilege to be won
We must [C]run, we must [G]run, we must [C]run
We must [C]hang up in the belfry where the [F]bats in moonlight [C]laugh
We must [C]stare into a crystal ball and [F]only see the [G]past
And in the [C]caverns of tomorrow with our [F]flashlights and our love
We must [C]plunge, we must [G]plunge, we must [C]plunge
[C]And then we'll get down there, way down to the very bottom of everything
[C]and then we'll see it, we'll see it, we'll see it
Chorus:
O[F]h my morning's [G]coming back
The [C]whole worlds waking [F]up
Oh the [F]city bus is [G]swimming past
I'm [Ami]happy just [F]because
I [G]found out I am really no one
End: C F C F C F C G C (again, listen for rythem)
