Owen's Lament  Augie March

OWEN'S LAMENT - AUGIE MARCH
Hey guys,
I've seen a few tabs of this one lying around but none have got it exactly right, so
it is. During the verses, make sure you're playing all barre chords! With the crescendo
feel free to use open chords though.
This is one of the greatest songs ever written.

(waltz fingerpicking)
(Dm, Em, Fm) F#m(1)
Level your fretting,
I won't be forgetting the [Dm]flush of your face.
When I [F#m(1)]lifted you level to me and the wattle tree
[Dm]Framed your body.
[Bm] In whispers [Dm]welling with the dope
Of a [A]new spring.
You said [Bm]kill me a dynasty or our [G]love won't mean a [D]thing.
A [F#]bullet for a diam[G]ond ring,
A [Em]favour promised, a [F#]promise delivered and [G]more,
To [D]yoooouuu[Am]uu.
It's [C]only a war, I'll [D]back to your shore,
Before you know I'm [Am]gone.
And I'll [Cm]cover your body.
*REPEAT INTRO*
(Dm, Em, Fm) F#m(1) Dm
And if you have to go, please, go lightly.
[F#m(1)]Keep it to a foxtrot, [Dm]whether he's a fox or not.
[Bm] Keep it cold[Dm], keep all your heat for m[A]e
[Bm] I'll be needing it for [G]when I'm cold, you [D]see.
[F#]Let your children remind you of m[G]e.
Whether [Em]by another, or [F#]by the ghost of [G]me
In [D]you[Am]
[C]There goes my [D]baby,
I would think of you and a [Am]palm tree
Would [C]cover your body.
[G] You, [D]you.[Am]
In [C]love and war, we are [D]bound by a law
It goes to you and then to [Am]yours.
To [C]recover my body
[Cm]Recover my body.

In this section, when switching between the C and Am, Glenn
slides the C chord up two frets to a D for half a bar before landing on the Am.

You always get the same answer, always with a smile. Not too cold sir..
not too wet sir! But it's wet... it's so cold...")

She [C]covered my body
In a [Am]ragged flag and bloody.
Not on your life.
