Pancho And Lefty  Willie Nelson

[C]Livin' on the road my friend is[G] gonna keep you free and clean
[F]Now you wear your skin like iron, your [C]breath's hard as [G]kerosene
[F]You weren't your momma's only boy,[C] but her favorite o[F]ne it seems
[C]She began to cry when you s[D]aid, "good-bye", [F]and sank into your[AM] dreams.
[C]Pancho was a bandit boy, [G]his horse was fast as polished steel
[F]He wore his gun outside his pants For[C] all the honest world [G]to feel
[F]Pancho met his match you know [C]on the deserts down [F]in Mexico
[C]Nobody heard his[D] dyin words, [F]ah but that's the way it[AM] goes
A[F]ll the Federales say, t[C]hey could'a had him an[F]y day
        [C]They only let him [D]go so long, out of[F] kindness I su[AM]ppose.
Lefty he can't sing the blues all night long like he used to
The dust that Pancho bit down south ended up in Lefty's mouth
The day they laid poor Pancho low, Lefty split for Ohio
Where he got the bread to go, there ain't nobody knows

A[F]ll the Federales say, t[C]hey could'a had him an[F]y day
        [C]They only let him [D]slip away, out of[F] kindness I su[AM]ppose.

The boys tell how old Pancho fell, and Lefty's livin in cheap hotels
The desert's quiet, Cleveland's cold And so the story ends we're told
Pancho needs your prayers it's true, but save a few for Lefty too
He only did what he had to do, and now he's growing old

A[F]ll the Federales say, t[C]hey could'a had him an[F]y day
        [C]They only let him [D]go so long, out of[F] kindness I su[AM]ppose.
A[F]ll few gray Federales say, t[C]hey could'a had him an[F]y day
        [C]They only let him [D]go so long, out of[F] kindness I su[AM]ppose.

OK on first part [C/G/F/C/G] ==but== when it goes to, "You weren't your mama's only boy ...", try the chord progression of F/C/F/Am/F/G/F/Am.

Ditto chord progression for the "And all the Ferderales say.... " .

The A minor usage, IMO, and that quick F to G in, as an example, "you said [F] .. goodbye [G].. " is important in this song both playing and singing. The A minor usage in particular.
