Visions  Stevie Wonder

Intro: Bm7 C#m7 (4x)
Verse 1:
[Bm7]People hand in hand
[C#m7] Have I lived to see the [Bm7]milk and honey land?
[A13] Where [G13]hate's a dream and [E7#9]love forever [D7#9]stands
F#aug Bm7 C#m7 Bm7 C#m7
Or is this a vision in my mind?
Verse 2:
The law was never passed
But somehow all men feel they're truly free at last
Have we really gone this far through space and time
Or is this a vision in my mind?
Chorus:
[A13] I'm not one who make [G#m7b5]believes
I [C#7]know that leaves are [F#m]green[F#m(maj7)]
They [F#m7]only turn to [G#sus4]brown
When [G#]autumn comes [C#m]around
C#m/B C#m/A# (same as A#m7b5)
I know just what I say
Today's not yester-[D#m7b5]day
And [G#7]all things have an [C#m7]en - [F#7b13]ding
Verse 3:
But what I'd like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to find our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?
(interlude: Bm7, C#m7 (4x))
(guitar solo over verse chord progression but ending with Bm7 to C#m7 played only once
Chorus:
I'm not one who make believes
I know that leaves are green
They only change to brown
When autumn comes around
I know just what I say
Today's not yesterday
And all things have an ending (hold F#7b13 and let decay for 2 measures)
Verse 3 (reprise):
But what I'd like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to take our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?
(vamp over Bm7, C#m7 and fade)
* Transcription and performance notes: Firstly, let's turn towards Michigan and Motown
and acknowledge the genius of Stevie Wonder and his musicians. I'm surprised this amazing
piece hasn't been documented before...
The recording uses three guitar tracks - steel string, nylon string, electric. Until
someone does a tab version, you can replicate the sounds by listening where the two
different acoustic guitars strum or arpeggiate the chords and inversions of the chords.
That process is actually the way recording was created. Artists like Stevie Wonder hire guitar
players who can create their own guitar parts from the raw chord symbols and add to the
feel of the song. Tabs are great to get you to the "starting gate", but I encourage you
to use these chords as your own starting point.
I'd also acknowledge the following website and the talented musician for providing the
foundation for this chord chart. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky8tbwN5thI
