shoot,... I messed up,... I forgot to change the words in the last line to the right ones,...
it should be
"birds fly over the rainbow, why, then why can't I,...."

First of all, I don't think it's right when people try do this song like IZ did it,... not to many people can get away with that, in my mind only IZ can do it that way and he's dead,...
plus he did not do the song any favors by singing the words in the wrong order, now people are learning it wrong and singing it wrong,... he probably did that recording live and had to improvise and sang what ever verse came into his head,... he's a pro, he made it work, but even he would tell you he messed up the words and it doesn't even make senses (the story of the song) when you read them in the order he sang them,...
I urge you all to read the actual words (someone added them here,... good job,...!) and please, learn them the right way and do the song the right way,.... we can stop this madness,...! (ok,... I'm better now,...)
also, who ever wrote out this song,... good on you mate, but they're are a few little mistakes,..
the most glaring is your line (and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true) where you have no chord changes and there like 3 changes in there,... I've put them in but I don't kow how you could do that song, holding a C chord there for that whole line,...? (I'd like to hear a version done that way,...)
the 2nd mistake is a small one, but your D as the 2nd chord should be a Am,... the D does come into play later, but when playing this song in the key of G the 2nd chord should be a Bm,... (the D kinda works there as those chords are similar) but I changed the key from the standard "C" tuning as most play it in to G and that shows the 2nd chord as a Bm,....
but nice job,...
here's how I would do the the 1st verse in the key of G (with the right words,...)
thanks would love to hear your versions of this song or your response's,..

Guys the words are right, the chords are decent - if you don't know who Iz is, you just don't get it. Aloha no.

ooops, I see now what krzykat is saying.
The chord is represented the first time around, with the wrong words. And it needs to be played with "dreams that you dare to..."
Ribzy (report)
It does sound fine if you capo the 5th or just play it in C (Up 5 steps), but there is a chord missing.
Should ba a C on "dreams that you dream of" (or a G if staying in this original key).

Lyrics for over the rainbow
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
there's a land that i heard of once in a lulla--by
Somewhere over thew rainbow skies are blue
and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Some day i'll wish upon a star and wake where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops away upon the chimney tops thats where
you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rain--bow why then oh why can't I
If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow why oh why can't I
lyrics for wonderful world
only ones I saw that were wrong are the bright blessed day the dark sacred night

The chords are NOT wrong, in fact if you capo up to the 5th fret, you can actually play along with Iz on youtube.
