Storybook  Roger Creager

"Storybook"
Words and music by Roger Creager
Intro: G C G C G C G C
if you listen to the song, he plays a harmonica over the intro, if you know how to play
the harmonica this can be a really fun song for a crowd
Verse:
[G]Sometimes I sit in my b[C]ackyard, [G]I kick back and drink iced tea[C]
[G]I stare all the way to the[C] ocean and dr[G]eam of how it would be[C]
[G]If I were a ship captain[C] somewhere or an [G]old fashioned sailor at sea[C]
[G]Or a stowed away pirate just [C]down below hiding and p[G]raying the law dont find me[C]
[D]Maybe I'd sail from Na[Em]ntucket[D] chasing the great white whal[Em]e
[C]Oh without a sound, I'd[G] run him aground then I'd br[D]ing old Ahab the ta[Em]il
Yeah I'd[D] bring old Ahab his [Em]tail
Chorus:
[C]But I'm not a (sailor, outlaw, runaway)[D], I'm just a man stuck[G] her[F#m]e in the pro[Em]mise land
C D G (listen to the song and you will hear the rhythm here)
Living hard and living free
[C]Im a dreamer that'[D]s what I got,[G] Oh but [F#m]here goes one[Em] last shot
C D G (rhythm is same as above in chorus, again...listen)
I hope someday they're dreaming about me
Intro
Verse:
Sometimes I dream Im a cowboy around 1949
Id cross the border on horseback with a real close buddy of mine
Id know we'd run from trouble but Im sure its what we'd find
When you're out of the frying pan into the fire, who cares what you leave behind
I know i'd fall in love down there and I'd probably end up in jail
WHen you fall in love with a rich man's daughter, 'who's gonna go your bail
Ohhh i hate them mexican jails---
Chorus
Solo: G C G C G C G C
Verse: (only have the G C progression) shorter than the rest
I'd love to go rafting the waters. riding the mighty mississipp
I'd float around from town to town causing trouble then I'd give'em the slip
That water could take me back to the days of old Huck Finn
I'd sleep all day and smoke all night and play tricks on old Jim
Yeha I'd think I'd like old JIm

------you will notice in the chorus i put three words in parenthesis, Roger goes through the

chorus three times and each time he goes to the next word to match the verse lyrics. Also,
on the last verse, it is shorter than the other versus, so the chord progression is shorter.
Just work at it and you will get it. Once you figure it out its a fun song to play,
especially with a harmonica.
